Review:

After the first Iboga Compilation on 98 i was amazed, when i heard there

should be another one released on 2000 i expected a lot, but not that

much!!!.

This compilation starts up with a track from Reefer Decree called Mr.Gekko..

starts with a very jumpy kick that leads a weird background bassline after

it.

a few voices are added meanwhile. very crazy track. hard for me to describe,

not very danceable but good!.

Track 2 is a bit weak track called Bomb-Olej by Logic Bomb (half HuxFlux),

very weird track you have here, not very danceable. but very strong bassline

and a lot of nice background samples, i think they could make this track more

groovy and danceable.. but after all its a very dark and scary track, and

thats how i like it..

after this all weirdness,(Track 3) Beat Bizarre brings you more!! (half of

Martian Reefer).

very slow track, not very groovy but it 100% pure dark psychedelic trance!.

nice vocal sample on the start which i dont know what it says. but after a few

seconds the kick as entered and craziness has come!. after something like 30

seconds, there is silence which in the background you can hear the vocal

sample from the start and i lovly wind sample, after that comes a very

beautiful bassline which leads it a nice kick drum. very nice start, though

its a very hard, dark, scary track!. i like it a lot!.

4th Track is called Glow Of Dawn by Martian Reefer. amazing track!!!. gotta

love the high bassline that goes up and up and down and up etc.. in the

start!, a lot of nice background voices and boom the kick is coming!. make you

wanna dance even at home or a party!.

nice Tom drums in the background, one of my favorite tracks here!.

Track 5 is made by Reefer Decree (which are same as Martian Reefer, just

witout M.S.Zimmerman). more groovier then the tracks before, lovly background

strings, very scary and dark atmosphere in this track, very kick ass drums!

:). and gotta love that melody which starts in 2:03 and goes on!.

6th Track is made by Shazbatt and called Velociraptor. very weird and dark

track, lovly drums. and a lot of weird samples flying around, nice vocal

sample, nice beat. CRAZY!.

7th track starts with a nice beat and after something like 30 seconds a nice

bassline join it and thats how it keeps going which in few seconds a lot of

other small but weird:) samples lead it. after something like a minute or 2

the kick is coming and after a min a nicer beat is added. pretty weird track,

very spooky atmosphere when you hear a lot those weird voices which goes up

and down in you speakers, but though all that, its a nice track!.

Last track here is from one of my favorite scandinavian groups called Human

Blue. a very lovly track. starts a beat wicked but when you hear the happy

drums there, you feel happy (like that scartch). then comes a very nice melody

which goes up and brings you into a calm world and after few minutes a very

beautiful melody comes and just make you smile all the way!. very good ending

here. gotta love the melody in the end and the tom drums in the background

with those beautiful strings!!.

This compilation is one of my all time favorites, nice combination of tracks

here. enjoy the journy! 9.8/10!

This is the best again. If you like new sounds, subtlety, powerful tribal

kicks, and something with a bit of originality go listen to this. Othewise

pull out you old order odonata and first flight and listen to 303's and cheesy

samples for the rest of your life. 8/10

Ahh, so this is what is original! You put a kick and a hi hat together with a

simple bassline and you have a killer track! Way to go stupid people who buy

this.

Me thinx this has some pretty classy trax stretched upon its shiny surface. 1,

3, 4, 6, 7, 8 all likeable. Just missed out on their new compilation first

time round @ my local psy shop... it also rocks in that subtle, smooth, spacey

way once again judging by the 6 vynl trax heard.... just what the doctor

ordered... she says don't go with the general, obvious, overstated way, stay

with the deeper, simpler, refined messages... it seems to me she was talking

about psytrance, and it struck my musical heart.

if you dislike this album then u will hate the new Iboga compilation

"triptamine". Though by my opinion y'all should go out and listen as it has a

smooth tweaked morning sound the whole way through without one bad track and a

lot of tingly moments in between. Thats just a twisted aussie opinion for you

all. "Ethnobotany" is great anyways... Im surprised many reviewers here hate

it, as I have 100's of goa albums, and there is less wrong with this than most

others. I guess some people cannot handle space in the music for a little

imagination, or else the listener finds their style and rarely breaks out from

that until a little evolution comes and kicks them in the butt. One thing is

for sure, this album has more than kicks and a hi hat... and works suberbly in

the morning after 10 hours of noisy, subtlety-free, overdone , cheesy,

mind-numbingly derivative over the top goa... 8/10 - purely an opinion of

course!

This is simply one of the best comps you can every buy on this planet. Enough

said. But I should point out two other items before moving on.

One, please, drop the word minimal. To regular reviewers on this site, minimal

seems to mean one thing--anything not GMS or Infected Mushroom.

Two, judge the music by what it is, not what you wanted it to be when you

bought it. Not everybody, thank God, wants to make music that sounds like

Infected or GMS. Even if GMS were good, there is no reason that their sound

should be the benchmark. But especially considering that their present sound

(as opposed to "chaos lab" which was awesome) is totally devoid of

imagination, musicality, or care--in other words, is formulaic cookbook

trance--it seems especially unfair to want all music to be judged along those

lines.

Free your mind. Buy a better stereo. Turn up the volume. Put your head inside

the speakers. And listen to Danish trance, Iboga style.

Let me start by saying, if I were a Dane, Iboga Records would mean more to me

than the queen. If you see a compilation with an Iboga Records sign on it, buy

it, don't even look on the back, just buy it. With great artists like Reefer

Decree, Human Blue, Beat Bizarre, Lurifax, Shazbatt and many more this

compilation is an excellent masterpiece. 10/10

After listening to as much trance as we have. Some find the constant acid lines

and relentless squeaks a little much by say 10 am, in other cases 3am, it's at

this point when you'll find iboga records opens other doors.

Great compil here, especially that dark atmosphere in the Beat Bizarre track

gets to me everytime!! I do think the Lurifax track is a little too

minimalistic for my liking though!! The rest of the tracks are very good, I

also like the Martian Reefer track lots. I'd give this 8/10 (and guys / girls:

CRANK THIS UP!! If you listen to this on lower volumes all quality flies out

of the window and it just flows by without having any effect.)
