But it is underground trance music, hence it deserves it's place here. Mindbender reviewed Texas Faggott's first album ages ago, and ppl accepted it, and I reckon this will be accepted as well. Besides, so many of todays artists reviewed here nowadays are not goa...ok, to the point. First of all, tracks are way too short for good trance experience, but they are groovy, bizarre sounds and dark basslines. First track is groove killer, fast and furious, and it sounds longer than it really is. One build and verse more would have been fine, track would have been about 6'30'' then...it has some cheesy seventies club samples "everybody groove to the music" etc crap, which are pitched a lot. About 1/3 faster than original. In fact, if I use 33rpm instead of 45rpm it sounds normal . But those samples are so ridiculous that they just make me laugh, definitely not a turn-off, since I don't try to seek any spiritual feeling here. First track of the b-side is pretty dark all the way to the end. TF is using very pervert samples, and they mix happy and melancolic together, and it sounds so fucked up. As Mindbender back then then said, this sounds like experimenting with oscillators etc. But these guys are skilled musicians, they really know how to make complicated music. Last track begins with ~10 seconds of scrathing, but luckily it ends soon, and turns to really dark and a bit acidic basslines, which last for the rest of the track. Finally there is one artist in Finland that I can be proud of =). Bom! This is the kinda that doesn't need listening. I know, cause I listened it before I bought it at Spine records, after few seconds I was sure that I'll take it. First track was just so powerful. Tracks really are short, but they sound longer than they are. Short conclusion...if you like other trance genres than just goa, and have open mind for new experimental music, which might sound cheesy in the beginning, go for this one. But if you are strict old school goa-fan, you should avoid this one. As I'm writing this, Texas Faggott just released their new album "Petoman's Peflett" in Finland, dunno about worldwide date, maybe today as well. I'll give this EP fair 8/10. Goa has, and still is evolving and only because a sudden rise of acts who try and make tracks that sound like the old goa tracks, but never even get close (a try is allways only a try), this kind of record gets named "NOT GOA AT ALL". I wouldn´t go saying whats goa n´ whats nut until the fat-lady has sung.. uknowhadeyemean?? So my conclusion.. "sumone goes around saying what is goa n´what is nut, and the real GOA-pioneers won´t give a shit, cuz they know their place.." My review is: If you dare take a peak where goa is evolving today then check out this release with the coolest BS-boys sample what the texasfaggott has sung himself, and even made a killer videoclip to go with it!!!
