I always used to stay at Camping Vliegenbos in Amsterdam : they have both huts to stay in or places for tents, its in a nice forest and is very friendly and safe. Most of the hostels are dodgy and not much fun ! Once you arrive at Central Station in Amsterdam there is a building with the letters "VVV" on it opposite - this is the tourist info and they will help you choose and book accomodation in Amsterdam otherwise. For info on psy parties, check the site at http://www.goatrance.net for complete party listings. We are giving a label party on a boat on this night in Groningen ... see http://www.boomrecords.com/tripship2002.html with Rastaliens live and some hungarian djs if you are interested, its an all night party, so that might save you a hotel fee for saturday hehehe. Groningen is a beautiful city in the north of holland (2hrs by train from Amsterdam) and has its fair share of coffeeshops and tourist attractions too !!
