  1. Miranda - Asynja

    Artist: Miranda

    Title: Asynja

    Label: Goldhead

    Date: 2001

    Track listing:

    01. 08'18" Groom Lake

    02. 07'37" Evolution Quest

    03. 07'58" Anxiety

    04. 07'22" Keep Calm

    05. 07'59" Magnetic Levitation

    Review:

After releasing 2 mythical albums, Miranda released in 1999 a third album

which disappoint us a lot... a kind of bad commercial trance. So, how would

be the 4th album, this one ?

First track starts in a good way with a lot of power, but after two minutes a

bad commercial melody comes....boring. T2 starts in a nice way like a good

progressive track (with Miranda style of course)...it's better than the first

track, but during the second part, comes an horrible melody....why making

    that ? I don't understand.. T3 is a kind of old school goa..not bad..reminds

me a little bit old MFG or Tandu stuff.. :-) Of course you must like this s

tyle to enjoy... T4 starts as T1 with an energetic rhythm...then comes a kind

of energetic goa melody...not that bad even if that's not breaking new

ground. Next track is too simple and repetitive...boring, and we have already

heard those synth sounds 1000 times. You will like "visitors" (track 6 ) if

you like slow old school goa..., the best track of the album. Next track is

far too comercial. The last track is an ambient track, not very new stuff

    here too..

So, Miranda should choose between goa and commercial trance because those 2

styles don't fit together. She should also make an evolution, try to use some

different sounds, some different rhythm...maybe next, who knows ?

    Review:

Behind the scenes is a compilation released by Atomic records. Tracks have

been selected by Marc Van Der Vlugt. If you don't know him, this german is

one of the best trance DJ and he's involved in psytrance since a long time.

Honestly, the playlist was not exactly my taste...but when I heard it I was

amazed !! what a good selection, all tracks fit together like a good album

!!! (as in a Marc VDV set :-) So, let's start...

First track is MOS - "Komm das", and it starts with some little sounds ready

to blow up....here we go, a perfect track for the dance floor to dance and

dance and dance again... This track could have been made by Psychaos and The

Delta together... Next track is Synchro - " Elektrik" , which is also the

"title-track" from the last Synchro album, weird sounds, filters effects, a

nice kick, then the bassline come in the middle of the track, not the best

track of the compilation, the bassline is not fantastic, but not bad too. T 3

is Slinky Wizard - "Hit & run" , not a bad track :-) Next track is

Gilgamesh - "Sextant" , you will like it if you like powerfull effects and a

good rythm...maybe the bassline is a little bit monotonous ? Anyway, I like

the Drum'n'bass sound and the vocal sample. And now, ready to listen to

killers tracks ? T 5 is Four Carry Nuts feat DJ Alex - "Halogen"...you will

recognize Tim Shuldt work here...very nice beat, good electric guitar samples

and even a Wah-wah !!! Dark pads and a rythm that change everytime....boring

is a word that Tim shuldt doesn't know. Another killer track is Midi Miliz -

"cream". Remember The delta album ? this track could have been there...

thoses guys like power + dark. Very very far from cheesy stuff.... Don't

panic, this is only music ;-) Track 7 is Noosphere -

"Kaleidoscopter"...starts with a scary pitch bend effect then hard synth

sounds, then the groovy rythm comes...very good track. Next track is Bus -

"Night Tripper". Usually I don't like bus track, but there.... hey, Marc VDV,

where do you find such tracks ? I like this heavy rythm and the melody and

the vocal sample. The last Track is Avatar - "Machine Life (dub mix)", a

remix from this classical track created by Pete Martin and guess who ? Marc

Van der Vlugt, the master himself !! :-)

So, a very good compilation, best tracks are 1,5,6,7,8,9 and there is no bad

    tracks.

  3. There is something in this album that you hardly find elsewhere....I don't know

what is it but it's magical. If you like psychedelic ambient oriental (arabic)

stuff, "Oued" will become one of your favorite album..I do like this

    sound..9/10

  4. V/A - TIP Singles 2000

    Artist: Various

    Title: TIP Singles 2000

    Label: TIP World

    Date: 2000

    Track listing:

    01. 07'44" Fuzzion : Dazed And Confused

    02. 07'11" Phoetus : Sparkling Soup (Tarsis Rmx)

    03. 10'48" Ticon : Tekkno

    04. 08'09" Fuzzion : Fertilizer

    05. 09'55" Stoop And Fidget : Scar Spice

    06. 06'33" GMS : The Warp

    07. 08'26" Paps : Digital Ache

    08. 07'59" Absolum : Re-Generate

    09. 06'28" Citizen Kaned : President Johnson

    Review:

TIP.World had a good idea : gather some singles released in year 2000.

It stars with a good (as usual) Fuzzion track...those russians impress me.. :-)

A fat rythm (as "brown eyed girl") with sometimes some dub sounds, solid

melody. Then a Tarsis remix of a Phoetus track. it's starts very dark with

    voice fx...perfect for the dance-floor ! Track 3 is Ticon. It's called

"Tekkno" and it's the B-side of Ass:tronaut. If you like this swedish band you

will do like this track......it's so good, rythm is perfect.....Ticon is

really one of the best new goa project ! Track 4 is another track from Fuzzion

called "fertilizer"...if you get the "Xplan:Nations" compilation you will

recognize the begining sample "You're dead man, you're so dead" and.....mmm

?..yes this is the same track that "Killer"...so a very good track but why two

names and why put a track already released on another TIP-World compilation ?

    Track 5 is a remix of a Bus track....like all Bus tracks it's average...maybe

it's not well equalized...Next track is "The warp" from GMS..(B side from 1200

mics). What a track ! better than an energy drink ;-) Then a (very poor) Pap's

track, looks like an amateur stuff...Hope Pap's will do better the next time.

You may know De:Generate from Absolum ? track 8 is Re:Generate. Absolum makes

very good music and this track proves it..Some fx are really originals, I like

this minced fade out in the middle of the track. Voice samples are good (and

frightening) too. This compilation ends with Citizen Kaned..a kind of "once

uppon in the west....of trance"...a good and original ambient track.

This compilation is very good, all tracks (exept T5 and T7) are killers

tracks.....Maybe TIP-World is becoming the leading trance label in the

    world..... :-( ) Rating : 9/10

  5. Ticon - Tekkno / Ass-Tronaut

    Artist: Ticon

    Title: Tekkno / Ass-Tronaut

    Label: TIP World

    Date: 2000

    Track listing:

    01. 10'50" Tekkno

    02. 07'33" Ass-Tronaut

    Review:

Ticon is a swedish band involved in psytrance recently. They released this ep

    in june 2000.

First track, "Tekkno" can also be found in the "TIP-World Singles 2000"

comilation. It starts with fat psychedelic effects and the groovy rythm that

make us love Ticon ! It's minimalist but nothing boring here...you can feel

the power every second. And it's so good when it starts again after the

    transition... :-)

B side is "Ass-tronaut". You will also find "Ass-tronaut" in the "Movers and

Groovers at the temple of dawn" compilation. I think this track is even

better than A side...It's a progressive psytrance track as some Atmos or

    Vibrasphere tracks...and it's sooooo good....this track is a killer on a

dance-floor...you wanna fly ? good choice ! Groovy rythm, psychedelic FXs,

fat & deep bassline, progressive sounds, litte melody...one of the best Ticon

track (with Stinking thinking and Deep Fried Cricket)

So, a very good EP..as nearly all Ticon stuff !! I can't hardly wait the

    album ! Rating : 8,5/10

  6. Gabriel Le Mar - Gab's Gift

    Title: Gab's Gift

    Label: Spirit Zone

    Date: 2000

    Track listing:

    01. 08'52" Unlimited Love

    02. 06'10" Bob

    03. 06'58" Freedom Come

    04. 04'55" April My Dear

    05. 08'55" West-Ghost

    06. 06'47" Interpole

    07. 07'13" No Shelter

    08. 05'03" All That We See

    09. 06'36" Manipulation And Technique

    10. 03'53" Inna Fire

    11. 07'31" Fairytale

    Review:

Second album from Gabriel le Mar (Saafi brothers). Firt track is a psychedelic

ambient track with acoustic guitar and vocals...very good to start. Track 2 is

nice too, but nothing special..Third track starts with a good basic rythm then

comes a nice melodic loop and effects "a la" Gabriel le mar..very positive

song..reverb rules !..Next track begins with those famous psychedelic house

sounds that make you immediately recognize Gab' . A powerfull and well built

rythm make you wanna dance. It's a pity that this track is so short... Same

pattern for the next track : powerfull rythm, psy housy sounds... A perfect

track to fly....very kind with your brain :-) "Interpole" (track 6) have a dub

feeling..I would like to hear this track behind coconut palms B-) Track 7 is

"No shelter" that you know if you have Tantrance 9...a very good typical Gab's

track ! Next tracks is more psytrance with vocals...not the best track from

the album ! Track 9 make you hardly stay on your seat...if you're sad today,

listen this track..you will smile and dance in your bathroom :-)))) perfect

rythm....one of the best track of the album. Track 10 is a good psychedelic

jungle short track. Last track is called "fairytale" and guess what ? it's a

fairytale... beautiful ambient sounds meet a good rythm....

So, a very good album, Gabriel le Mar succeed in creating a melting from

different styles...and always very psychedelic. Rythms are "hard" ones as

psytrance but synth sounds are "soft" ones as House and ambient. The cover is

very smart like a Flemish paint !! You will find BPM for each tracks, too.

    Rating...9/10

  7. Not as good as said....all thoses tracks are so simple, looks like Nitendo

music...Listen to the whole album is nearly impossible...if you want to

discover Biot music you should listen to his second album (Synthetic Organic)

    which is much more better.

    09. 07'44" Man With No Name : Teleport (2000 Rmx)

    10. 08'45" Eternal Basement : Taking Place In You

    Review:

This compilation begins with the famous "mi-loony-um!" from

Hallucinogen.....you certainly already know this fantastic track, nothing else

to say. Then a very good track from Shakta and a russian project "In

R-Voice"...good collaboration. Track 3 come from the new Shiva Shandra's album

(Auricular)..:-) Track 4 is an acid Etnica track. Then a track from Chakra

featuring Liquid Metal. This track begins like a Delta track, very dark and

powerfull then a second part very melodic but with the sound from nowaday..I

Like it ! Track 6 is a ManMadeMan track, nice but nothing special, Track 7 is

NTSX, too "commercial trance" for me. Then Trickster which is Tristan and

D.Trevor for Green Nuns. The last track from this CD is a beautiful ambient

track produced by Simon Postford and Process. This track is taken from Twisted

"Demented" compilation, as track 1 and track 8 ! >-o

Now, CD2, mixed by ManWithNoName. BEWARE this CD is TechnoTrance...you have

been warned... First track is Magnat ( = Eternal Basement ) , an boring track

for me...I hate this equalization !!! Then a Slide track, as bad as a UX track

;-) . Then Genetic, same style as usual..you like or not, it works for me.

Next track is an Avi & Dino Psaras remix from a MWNN's track...a little bit

strange..Then a Sound Check track (Ferry Corsten..stop grinding your teeth !

). Next track is Eat Static. Then Another NTSX (remember CD1..)..Hey, NTSX ! ,

you're welcomed to the north pole ! >-b Next is In-sect, Track 9 is the

MWNN-Teleport 2000 remix. The last track come from the Eternal Basement album.

So CD1 is very good except tracks 6 and 8 which are average and track 7 which

    is a big shit (sorry..)

    CD 2.....mmm.... :-o ....hhh.......maybe it was a joke, isn't it ???

Anyway I like the first CD...7,5/10..I don't rate the CD2.

  9. Yes ! this album is very good...all tracks are good, best seems to be

1,3,4,6,9,10 but others are fine too ! I don't agree with tequila and

Ubik'rate....this album is 8/10 or 9/10. It's melodic and you can hear it in

one shot whithout be bored because you don't hear that goa style often, as

said Prana has created his own style !

  10. Man With No Name - Teleportation

    Posted Image

    Artist: Man With No Name

    Title: Teleportation

    Label: Dragonfly

    Date: 2000

    Track listing:

    01. 07'00" Teleport

    02. 06'30" Eat Static : Boney Incus (Man With No Name Rmx)

    03. 06'40" Lunar Cycle

    04. 08'03" Three Drives On A Vinyl : Greece 2000 (Man With No Name Rmx)

    05. 06'44" Neuro Tunnel

    06. 06'35" Infernal Machine : Lion King (Man With No Name Rmx)

    07. 05'50" Sly Ed

    08. 07'06" Jack In The Box

    09. 07'23" Teleport Stripped (Man With No Name 2000 Rmx)

    Review:

All those famous tracks have been previously released in differents

compilations or singles (that can't be found anymore at store)...so now you

can hear it into one album.....I know some of you (Children ?) don't like this

concept, but for me it's usefull......a lot of us didn't listen GoaTrance in

94/95, and this is the only way to discover those famous tracks !

Now, let's start ! The first track, "teleport" is one of the 3 or 4 most famous

Goa tracks ever created..what a pleasure to hear it once again...:-) Then a

good remix from "Eat Static-Boney inclus". Next track is the fantastic track

"Lunar cycle" (a single, released in 1995) . Track 4 is a remix from

"Greece2000 - Three Drives"...why put this track here ? this remix is a little

bit boring :-(. Track 5 is Neuro tunnel, a good track but not fantastic. Then

a remix from "Infernal Machine" (Infernal machine = Simon Postford And Dick

Trevor) which is very good. Track 8 is "Sly Ed". (B face from the teleport

single in 1994) Track 8 is "Jack in the box". Two fantastic classic tracks.

The last track is an interesting remix from Teleport.

So, there is a link between those tracks (except Three Drives), and it's soooo

good to hear this goldie old Goa sound that make you smile....it's very warm,

    very positive, sane, simple... 9/10

  11. X-Dream - Live Fast

    Artist: X-Dream

    Title: Live Fast

    Label: Tunnel

    Date: 1997

    Track listing:

    01. 09'00" Live Fast

    02. 05'29" Who Can Make A Funky Beat

    03. 09'20" DJs Hardattack

    04. 06'49" Shit 4 Brain

    Review:

I think you would know the first track because it comes from the classic album

"Trip to trancesylvania" so very good track and a very original rythm too. The

second track " Who can make a funky beat" is also built on the rythm...it's

sounds like an old techno track.....funny. Track 3 "DJs Hardattack" begins

with some bass drum samples....then come acid sounds, don't expect any melody,

it's totally an acid techno track. The last track "Shit 4 Brain" is very

"Hard-techno" too.....so, a different sound than usual from X-dream (it

doesn't like the "Trip to trancesylvania" album )....maybe now it sounds a

little bit old, it looks like acid techno from the early 90's and there's no

melodies (except first track)...but it's not bad, even

    intersesting........Rating : ....? I really don't know !
