1. no Talpa in the list?

    231939

Is Talpa Goa? His style seems more innovative, intricate, melodic, tricky-crazy psytrance than he does goatrance. His album is great and if its really goa than thats very high up there, but... if Filteria is psychedelic goatrance, than that would make Talpa, er.. Psychedelic psytrance with goatrance influences, or

I would have to say Filteria, followed by Electric Universe, Ethereal, and Ypsilon5.

If Goasia would release a main album, (with all new, hopefully great, some super songs) I think they have potential to be one of the better or best (one of the best) modern goatrance artists. Some of their work on the Pure Planet comp was well done, and although I felt one or two tracks could have had even more waves and imagination, they surely have talent and I see the potential, but I can't judge them compared to the artists who have relased main albums. So Ypsilon5 was one of the big, goatrance surprises of 2004.

Still waiting to hear new Transwave and MFG albums. I hope at least one of them really brings back goatrance but more modern to what true goatrance trance would sound like today in their excellent styles.

  2. Mood? Everything involves mood. :)

Dark Soho's first album (Sunspot) was very good, maybe great for its time. :)

I prefer their second album, (Cumbustion) because of the several monster tracks, and I consider the first two albums very good; with several great songs.

The third album is a huge disappointment. Their actually is one track thats pretty good called Long Way Home, and one or two others are decent, but thats it.

I miss the dark, storming, gothic melodies like in Sunspot, and the carry-over into maybe as dark or even darker terrain in Cumbustion.

The Light in the Dark one is mostly typical, average full-on, and it is a huge disappointment because of who its coming from. People develop expectations when a group releases two very well done quality albums. I'm sure that many more people would have appreciated this "light" approach and newer diection, had there been more than just one or two good songs. Because of the lack of good songs on their third album, it makes it easier to bash Dark Soho for turning tword the light, when in essence, it very much has to do their lack of good/great "light" songs. The entire album is forgettable, and had this been dark but with as a typical a full on formula, it still would have been a disappointment, just not nearly as much. B)

  3. ASTRAL PROJECTION - TEN ... (Review)

My feelings 6 months later. I love AP's earlier work and my first goatrance song ever was by AP so my review is automatically in favor of AP, but they've attached their artist name to a compilation of something they didn't do: Covers.

You could say not all the songs are terrible, although none are good I strongly feel. After all, you can say, AP didn't do these? But its been over two years!, and its AP!

Look, this is the WORST, MOST DISAPPOINTING compilation of covers that I have ever heard in psytrance to date, and probably because THESE COVER SONGS HAVE BEEN DONE TO GREAT, CLASSIC ORIGINALS!!! WHY THE HELL DID AP ALLOW THIS TO BE RELEASED??? Listen, they should have had several great artists remix each song they chose to get remixed, and then taken the best one from each artist. People would than be in competition to make the best track for fear that they would lose if they made something half-assed or half-decent, as are found in many areas here.

WHY DID AP NOT REMIX THEIR OWN MUSIC??? AND WHY THESE PARTICULAR ARTISTS??? ARE THEY THAT BURNT-OUT OR THINKING NEWER ARTISTS COULD BRING IN MORE MONEY AND ATTENTION??? OBVIOUSLY NO CREATOR WANTS HIS OWN GREAT WORK HE OR SHE LOVES RUINED, BUT WHATEVER HAPPENED, THE INTENTIONS EXPLODED IN AP'S FACE, or rather IMPLODED I SHOULD SAY.

No one mixes your material better than yourself. No one KNOWS YOUR WORK BETTER THAN YOU!

Example: AP - Astral Files ... A phenomenal album with many great/excellent remixes by AP!

I HOPE THEY MAKE THIS UP TO THEIR FANS WITH A 5th or whatever number it is, main album which literally for once ever, revolutionizes goa/psytrance a second time by the same artists. (or atleast is freekin insanely imaginative and amazing, like their older work but just as or even more visual and ambitious, layered, melodic, and beautiful) Sound impossible? Anythings possible. AP put this out in the universe over a decade ago. I been a believer in them, anything; everything ever since.

BUT THIS COVER ALBUM IS LIKE THEM SITTING BACK IN THE CHAIR, GIVING UP THEIR WORK TO OTHERS TO PLAY AROUND WITH; WHO HAVE DONE NO JUSTICE TO THE MAJORITY OF THE SONGS, AND IN MY OPINION: ZERO JUSTICE WHEN COMPARED TO THE ORIGINALS. HELL, THEIR SELF-MIXED COMP, "IN THE MIX" IS DECENT COMPARED TO THIS!

Score / Grade: F out of A. Although tracks 4 and 10 are not bad; they are basically the only decent ones I think, this should have not been made, unless with far better remixes to such beautiful classics. Many songs are too repetitive, boring, typical, plain, unimaginative, forgettable! So yes, its a disgrace to what it could have been.

Because mediocre or less than half-decent for AP is just bad and unexceptable! Astral Projection are too talented and focused to let this happen, so what happened? Many fans thought this was a new album by AP, and I simply bought this because of their almost grade A history of truly stunning music and results. But its history now. One can only look forward toward the future of things to come. I want them to be positive. I believe AP has the potential to make another imaginative masterpiece main album with all new tracks. Anythings possible. :)

  4. I find this follow-up album to a respectful, popular comp disappointing and lacking in creativity and just being super-catchy or bringing something innovative to the table overall. Many people seem to agree that this album is not all that. I just don't find it as imaginative or catchy as its predecessor. The first one was so much better for its time, and its fair to compare that to this. Artists like Hallucinogen, Younger Brother, and Prometheus; I've enjoyed their work very much on their main album(s). Why so many of these tracks seem so not interesting or exciting is a delemma. <_<

    Lets see:

Epic Hair by Younger Brother is a decent, nice song, okay so maybe its a pretty good one but he's done much better. I'm still waiting for his follow-up main album to Flock of Bleeps.

Long Arms by Audio Chemistry is okay. Thats all I can say right now.

Stretch Tastic by Hallucinogen and Triston is cool, but considering this is coming from Hallucinogen, I expect so much more.

Oscar by Prometheus is pretty good, nice melodies and such, but nothing spectacular.

Lost and Profound by Tristan is decent I suppose, just not all THAT interesting.

Balloon Dance by Metal Sharon (who the hell is that??!) is just pointless techno crap.

Grow More Pot by Tristan and Prometheus is pretty good, but by now I've lost interest.

Black Ops by Hikmori is an okay ending track. The ending song could have been so much more memorable.

There is like only one or two tracks that I would consider putting close to good, and there doesn't seem to be one great or REALLY surperb track on this album I feel. I think that many of you realize thats its not entirely bad, it just could have been much better and its a disappointment for what it is. <_<

  5. I agree with so many things said, especially by AmithabaBuddha, Seraph, and Lemmiwinks.

I HATE Dark Soho's new album. So okay, Long Way Home was a nice track, but thats it. Seriously, putting a light in their dark is like me sleeping with the night light on again! You just don't regress, you elevate and become better, and by changing, they became worse, and worst yet.. they released it under the name Dark Soho... (!) And I agree with AmithabaBuddha that just about every old-skool artist has disappointed.

TALAMASCA - What the hell happened? Beyond the Mask is another world compared to new Talamasca repetitive crap! What is his fucking problem??? I mean, how the HELL do you go from making such individual, original music to something so formulatic and typical that almost everyone else is doing? :(

COSMOSIS - I haven't fully heard his new album yet... don't know if I want to spend the $$$ to potentially be disappointed again by another once awesome old-skool goatrance artist. Its not worth the money or the agony.

PLANET BEN - Full On my ass! I can take a crap and if I put a sign that says "FULL ON" I'm bound to make money. Get back to being original or drop dead. You're adding to the problem, not solving or helping it.

X-DREAM - Who I give some respect for -- for at least avoiding Full On like all the others and BEING ORIGINAL... even if their new stuff is mixed and obviously not like their older, more impressive stuff. They are still very talented and remind me of Madonna in that they're changing to keep with the current times, even if its a bit, er.. plastic or tacky... or a bit strange to hear such music coming from X-Dream.

SANDMAN ... Well at least when he released that crap he didn't call himself Sandman. Although it was still by the same artist. Unless a new Sandman album comes out thats bad, I can't say Sandman is bad... and I haven't seen anything from him in years.

Even SPACE CAT, and so many others... lets hope PLEIADIANS and TRANSWAVE don't end up on this list by avoiding the Full On thing. I have faith in Transwave because no one left their duo, (as they came together again) but Pleiadians -- if the rumors are true, I'd rather they NOT release an album unless its amazing because I don't want the perfect image of IFO and the unique, super-cool but flawed impression of FOL to be brought down.

And then there is Astral Projection, (I don't want to talk about their remixes on TEN, ugh!!!) which was more disappointing than IN THE MIX. So their last true main album was AMEN; it had all new songs. I gave it a 7/10 in the old reviews section, but I listened to AMEN several weeks ago and actually found it pretty good, several great songs, but it was never really great compared to Dancing Galaxy and Another World, which are classics. With the having others mic your own songs release of TEN... it just sucks to watch AP, artists so talented and innovative let others turn their impression into something so ordinary, and althogh AMEN was a dissapointment, it wasn't a sell-out or a disgrace like many of the old-skool artists; IN THE MIX was the clubish, too-mainstream one that most fans disliked. Same goes for MFG, if they ever appear again I hope its with something worth it; not this typical, formulatic Full On.

And then there's Infected Mushroom, who still make some very good, great music!, but WHAT THE HELL!!! Thats an endless argument because although I hate much of the singing and lack of innovation anymore, many people are learning about psytrance because of them, unfortunately these people are getting into psytrance not realizing it is the typical mainstream psytrance, which means more popularity and attention to the less obtuse, abstract projects which WE for the most part, those with me... seem to encourage.

And lastly there are artists I'm not sure about such as Hallucinogen, who releases tracks on comps but not main albums so its hard to judge, but regardless, almost everone seemed to really enjoy Sphongle so I can't complain there. However, I don't care for Hallucinogens recent work on comps. Its just not as detailed, interesting, overall kickass and hypnotic as the older stuff was. Like where is the innovation, the imaginative moments that make us smile and keep us engaged and intrigued??? Please give me more than a beat, baseline, and a occasional melody or two with several layers of noises and psy-sounds.

I had to quote this; I couldn't resist! Lemmiwinks has said something that is so important, and I feel that everyone should agree with this because its something that simply is.. and I couldn't agree more:

for me a great artist is one who knows when to stop. That's what makes him mythical: release killer stuff after killer stuff and when you feel your new stuff isn't as top-notch as the old then you just stop. That way people have a good image of you.

    227464

    AMEN!!! B)

    LEAVING WITH SOME POSITIVE WORD'S:

Lets try to NOT focus on all the disappointments. Yes they'e are annoying and it can get very frusterating thinking about it. We're all aware of them, and there is nothing that can be done, and plus its draining! Lets focus on the few quality ones that stand out and make an impact; the positive artists who successfully bring back that old goatrance sound or innovate and keep things real and individual, like Talpa when its not sounding like IM. By focusing on the bad we're making it our choice to be angry, and for what? At least those classic artists who unfortunately turned over to the easy way out, made great music in their times and we lived to hear it and have it in our collections! Lets be thankful for that and for new artists like FILTERIA, TALPA, YPSILON 5, SCATTERBRAIN and several more, who keep the scene fresh and alive and strong with passion and quality. There is always hope, and maybe MFG or AP will surprise us all and revive goatrance for the NOW!, Who knows, MFG has yet to disappoint, or not... and maybe AP will release a true intricate masterpiece, unlike AMEN, before they retire. As they said: "Anything is possible." Make it possible AP! Even if it takes years... please.

Greatest old-skool, goatrance artist to actually IMPROVE and IMPRESS with a main album:

CHI-A.D. - EARTH CROSSING. Bless this brilliant creator! He has done more in my eye's than I could have ever asked, because of the TIME he chose to make and continue that goatrance sound that we have come to miss so much, and he did it better on a main album than he has ever done!

And although not essentially goatrance I suppose: Juno Reactor, for never trying to fix something that isn't broken. For having their own style and NOT ONCE selling out. For remaining innovative, unique, imaginative, dark, stylish, interesting, taking risks, and being aware of it.

  6. The question is: does it have layers?

Space Cat's recent album was boring due to a lack of layers. I need more than one melody at a time for this style, and I expect it from these old school guys damnit :)

    230038

I agree, and I didn't like Space Cats last album either. I actually found it really disappointing, although I agree that is one of the better Full On albums of 2004 for what it was, but I hated it. Both Space Cats and Oforia's earlier stuff was much better, but their new stuff is like, boring, not many layers, and very clubbish -- just too general and predictable sounding!

This Oforia album reminds me of Space Cats last album somewhat as well, and I never found Pigs in Space THAT good but it sure is better than this unimaginative, TYPICAL Full On sound. If some of you like it, er, okay, but it sounds far too much like all the other Full On crap to me. I'm sick of it.

  7. Dragonfly Records has got to be the most confusing site to order off of...

Can any of you read this and explain anything, those who order albums too? Let be briefly explain my situation. I recently tried to order off Dragonfly Records, at their site link right below..

    http://www.dragonflyrecords.com/albums.htm

I wanted to order a copy of UX - ULTIMATE EXPERIENCE, but anyway, once you go to that link above, I clicked on more info on the bottem right next to any album, and we are linked to a box where more info pops up with an actual sound sample of the desired album and an option in red that says buy this product... but when I click on that, the damn site keeps linking me directly to ... http://dfly.3ev.com/

This is so frusterating. I can't access their order page anywhere. Their site is very confusing and I've ordered albums from them before; I don't know whats changed. I usually find what I want on psyshop or saikosounds, but witih UX for example, it seems to only be available through Dragonfly Records, same thing with Pleadians albums for those of you who never got it. Atleast it was avaialble several months ago...

Anyway, can anyone give me any advice or ideas why thisis happening, am I doing something wrong? This is the first time I'm posting about having difficulty on something usually so simple... its really strange. Does this make any sense. Can someone else check it out. It shouldn't be this difficult.

    thanks!

  8. BotfB???

Are you all mad? Battle of Future Buddhas being chaotic? Like, err.. how? heh

Define chaotic... like most crazy sounding I presume; most out of controll? (In a good way?, because out of control usually would relate to something not sounding professional, just crazy and not in-tune, simply incoherent or just really off-the-wall and maybe mad and angry and violent I suppose) ... I'm trying to pertain chaotic to albums in this genra, because usually this would relate to death-metal or certain industrial, but when I saw Seraphs options above, I began thinking of what I consider in this genra .... an insane amount of character, adrenaline-charged, layers, layers, more layers, over-the-top imaginative and heavily orchastrated layers, not just repetitive but really enthusiastic and hyper, yet coherent and moving in direction, but like an emotional kid or some young adults energy running through the roof and taking averything else out with it in that moment, from the sheer amount of internal visual representations. I'm surprised more people didn't mention SCATTERBRAIN....

    HALLUCINOGEN

    PLEIADIANS - HEADSPIN

    PLEIADIANS - ASTEROPE

    PLEIADIANS in genreral... (!!!)

    FILTERIA

XENOMORPH - (This is what I originally thought you meant by chaotic ... crazy and angry music usually is referred to as chaotic, but then I realized that it doesn't have to be dark or evil to sound really fucking chaotic, hehe!) I haven't heard Hux Flux or UX though, so I can't comment on those right now.

  9. hehe, what is this? Some of it sounds to me like a bunch of amateurs attempting to do what they think is melodic trance with goa influnces... ?

Most of this is not goatrance, new or oldschool. Its fairly melodic trance with ethnic, world influences. (i.e. tracks 1+2)

However, the melodies on track 4 remind me more of goatrance. Its like the only track that seems to be moving in the right direction. Its just too bad that the others aren't. This comp doesn't seem to know which sub-genra its going for, so its trying a handful. More tracks in the class of track 4 would have probably raised more interest in this comp, but who buys albums because of one or two tracks anymore? Not as many as back then, especially when it comes to trance.

The whole album has this synthetic sound and feel to it. It doesn't pull me in and engage me like a good goatrance album does. The only thing that seems goa-ish is the colorful cover, because goatrance albums in general seem to be known for their colorful, sometimes trippy or psychedelic cover designs.

These tracks seem a bit too basic for me; the second and track 6 seems a bit more interesting, but much of it is just so-so, and what the hell is track 7?, Man that sounds really bad, goofy, cheesy, call it whatever you want to. Overall this does not sound like an even fairly good album. Half decent at best maybe, but overall I don't like it, very basic and plain, predictable, and repetitive.

  10. From the samples I heard, I can say that I do like some of this Cosmosis album; its quite different from all the others in general. The only track I really don't care for track 7 because it is a remix or cover of a known mainstream song which is old and played-out now, and my mind instantly thinks of that song I've heard on the radio when listening to that track, so I wonder why he bothered doing it or putting it on the album but I'm sure its popular somewhere, just would have probably sounded better had he left the track Re order as a single because its not original.

On the plus side, I really like tracks 1 and 5 from the samples. Tracks 8 and 9 sound pretty cool to me. I wonder how much of "old" Cosmosis there is in this new album. I wonder if its better than contact and I'm curious to hear the whole thing.

Also, the voice samples in track 6 kickass, very cool stuff I wish there were more cool moments to raise up the songs or parts that sound more formulatic or rather less imaginative as his older work! :)

  11. Jon, I meant that first album is goa trance just because of those massive melodies that just morph one to another where second album is more concentrated on mind work, experimenting with different sounds and noises, you can even hear country guitar sample. When I hear playing with your brain I say it is psychedelic, when is strictly focused on layers and layers of melodies I call it goa trance. Maybe 2 tracks could be called goa trance from second one : MOONSHINE and HIGHER ACCESS because of excessive usage of melodies, but that is all in any case psychedelic trance, no matter the labeling...;)

    227164

Ahhh Seraph, thank you for explaining that. I have many of the pieces in my head for me to distinguish goatrance from psytrance (granded both are trance that that psychedelic) and your articulative words on this answered my question (s). Now when thinking about what you said, I totally agree with you and I strongly feel that its part-of (cause there's so damn much to it) what you say above which is why it should be known that there is a difference from goatrance and psytrance.

Also, on listening to the samples on psyshop, I can say that I do like this Cosmosis album, and I only really don't care for track 7 because it is a remix or cover of a known mainstream song which my mind instantly thinks of when listening to that track, so I wonder why he bothered doing it or putting it on the album but I'm sure its popular somewhere, just would have probably sounded better had he left the track Re order as a single because its not entirely original. On the plus side, I really like tracks 1 and 5 from the samples. Tracks 8 and 9 sound pretty cool to me as well. I wonder how much of "old" Cosmosis there is in this new album. I wonder if its better than contact and I'm curious to hear the whole thing. :)

  12. well not that rare...I ordered rock Bitch mafia 3 weeks ago from

Amazon  :) So no need to rip any needed bodyparts for that

How lucky you are! I ordered Green Nuns - Rock Bitch Mafia as well off amazon several months ago, and after two months I got an e-mail that said the copy was no longer available? I'm like, then why the hell was it available to order? Who bought my copy or what the fuck?!?!

Yeah, but amazon occasionally does have some great albums but they pop up not too often and are usually gone soon after...

  13. I've noticed this for around a year and said nothing until now.

On psyshop I click on "charts" every once in a while, and almost always, I get mostly Full On releases and around half or more of the list usually Full On comps!

I've been under the impression that these top 10 albums are simply albums that are the Top selling psytrance albums, but really, is that the real reason? You'd think they would be the most selling, but Top 10 could mean many things. Most of the albums on the top 10 usually suck unless you're a dj looking to buy general Full On for the clubs. I kept thinking, why the hell are these albums so popular... or on the Top 10 for so long and what is it really the Top 10 of ?

Go here and take a look for yourself.

    http://www.psyshop.com/shop/Charts.html

  14. Finally, I'm gonna get it!

    226355

Wow, its being re-released. Thats a surprise! Well if you haven't heard it, don't expect too much or you might be disappointed. This was never an album nearly as intricate (or I feel groundbreaking) as earlier AP, Hallucinogen, Pleiadians, Cosmosis, IM. Nonetheless, this is one of the most under-appreciated or rather underrated albums in goatrance history I feel, because of its innovation, and its unique, dark-melodic style, direction, and imaginative approach. This album is interesting; its just very different, the tone is mature, and damn its catchy. Even the more subtle tracks like the first one is so simple and yet such an intriging opening for things to come. Its like an introduction I feel, the beginning to a story I never fully realized.

I like this album very much, and it deserves to be bought and in all of your collections who collect quality goatrance, even if this artist, "Izik Levy" I believe, makes crap Full On music now days. Who even knows what he's up to now, but who cares? Witchcraft is so MUCH BETTER than his second main album, Psycho Toons, which was decent compared to this; it wasn't dark or provacotive, and it was much more aimed at the dance floor; the tracks were less imaginative and more repetitive, even if its considered to be a pretty good album for its time, according to reviews I've read on this site in the old goa reviews section.

About some comments above, I don't support the new stuff simply by not buying it or saying anything positive about it, but no one should ignore the earlier stuff, or not buy it if they have an awesome collection just because the artist sucks now. Witchcraft is like a collectors piece in goatrance history. I was NEVER amazed by this album, and I actually find seveal tracks not that good or great when in comparison to other songs on this same album, but in its entirety -- as a whole, Witchcraft is one badass, cool, interesting trip into the dark abyss. I haven't heard this album in years, but I give this album a B+ out of A or a 9/10.

An album I most appreciated with great sound-proof headphones, laying down in the dark with the lights turned off, getting comfortable, clearing your mind, and turning it up! :o

  15. Lord of the Dance is really good, especially toward the end. I like that track.

I really like their last track on BotFB, the atmospheric, dark, downtempo, ambient-goa, one titled Marsmellow. I'm very surprised that no one has mentioned that yet. This final track is great!; probably my most favorite track on the album.

Tranceportamental is a very cool track which really took time to grow one me.

And Tigerhill and Neuroglider are very, VERY repetitive!, I mean track 3 being Tigerhill, Jesus this is so repetitive... until those eerie, strange sounds come in at the second half of the song, but then it repeats itself all over again...

...and yet there seems to be something somewhat hypnotic, interesting, and engaging with both of these songs. Track 5; Neuroglider, is also very repetitive-- its amazing that so many people seem to like it so much? ... and yet there is something really catchy with the bassline and harsh, scratchy-dark melody and sounds, but damn its still so repetitive, just listen to it.

Anyway, how was their second main album? I recently found out about it and never heard it. Was it any good? There are hardly any reviews for some reason in the old Goa Reviews section, and its not highlighted in red like the first so, (?)

  16. Hey guys, I've heard Talpa live this weekend....whoaaa !

He progressed his previous style which awfully reminded on Infected Mushroom and developed his own in some ways...His music is much more innovative and wizardy.

    225921

Wow. Sounds... interesting. This could be like, insane or something, hehe. I keep listening to the Art of Being Non album and I really, REALLY like it, although there are two or three tracks that could have not been there for the sake of preserving high originality and stronger replay value and lasting appeal I feel. Several of my friends have heard and were impressed by this album, but they are not aware of IM like we are. The ones who heard Talpa I introduced them to this music not too long ago, so I can compare more, and I can't wait to hear the next album! :)

The first track on Art of being Non is really good, the second one My Kingdom is arguably my favorite on the album, (its fucking INTENSE-GREAT!!!) The track People are Animals really stands out and is great, (but the beginning sample story part about a strange trip is too drawn out) and lastly, the MOON track is so great! I even like the last track very much, but it isn't at the same imaginative, engaging level as the others I feel. Its still unique and decent or pretty good and its obviously cool, but thats the best I can say about it really.

However, couldn't stand tracks 4 and 5 (and the beginning of 3 was just goofy and took some too long to pick up, it like teased you before getting good, but the tease was too long I felt) I think those 3 tracks were way too Infected Mushroom sounding. So this puts flaws and takes innovation away from a rare and rather surprisingy great album! The IM tracks (as some of us call them) take away the mysterious, and crazy, unique, and different impression that is so great and exists in some others. I don't want my mind to associate to IM when listening to Talpa, I want to be taken to the next level by listening to the style of who the artist is! Talpa is arguably my FAVORITE, at least in my top two most favorite albums of 2004!, (other is Filteria)

Yes! I can't wait for his next album. I have to see what he would be like without the IM influenced tracks. He is one of the few people who to me, have true potential to be one of the greatest next generation psytrance artists. I hope -- I REALLY WOULD LOVE TO SEE more dozens or hundreds of hours put into his next album, because can you imagine the out-come with an artist like this... ??? Well regardless, I hope the next album is indeed more complex, imaginative, GROUNDBREAKING-INNOVATIVE-DARK-FUN-CRAZY-TWISTED-AMBITIOUS-MELODIC LAYERS-LAYERS, and more LAYERS!!!!!!!! ATMOSPHEREIC + CHARACTER + Interesting and mysterious and INTENSE.... a MASTERPIECE!!! (with NO tracks like 4 or 5 that remind us of IM, because Talpa's style is innovative in sense)

At least, I think this artist really enjoys being challanged and pushing the limits. Listening to the orginal tracks on his debut, and not the (for me) obvious IM sounding tracks on Art of Being Non, thats what I felt.

You bring interesting news Seraph. ;)

  17. Infected Mushroom - Classical Mushroom

    225889

I don't think Infected Mushroom - Classical Mushroom is old skool goatrance. Anyway, its impossible for me to cut it to five, let alone ten and think that other albums should be here before several ones I've left the list alone with, but I'll try to best list at least 10 of my most favorite old-skool goatrance albums.

    PLEIADIANS - IDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECTS

    HALLUCINOGEN - THE LONE DERANGER

ASTRAL PROJECTION - DANCING GALAXY (followed by) ANOTHER WORLD

    COSMOSIS - COSMOLOGY

MESSAGE FROM GOD - PROJECT GENESIS (followed by) THE PROPHECY

    CHI - A.D. - INFINITISM

    Chi-A.D - EARTH CROSSING

    PLEIADIANS - FAMILY OF LIGHT

MAN WITH NO NAME - EARTH MOVING SUN

    TANDU - MULTIMOODS

  18. Yes..

    X-Dream! ... Hallucinogen! (!) Koxbox!!

Wow! I mean, WOW! I wonder who finally realized that psytrance can really enhance certain games. This could be so damn smart and appropriate to put in other games, with psytrance depending on the themes, like DEVIL MAY CRY 3 for example, and they missed their chance with psytrance but I heard the soundtrack is much better than the overall shitty DMC2 at least. Great dark psytrance in DMC3 or DMC4 would just be nuts!

I have to admit however, the artists on this comp alone are better than the actuality; anticipation of their songs! but the songs are still cool nonetheless, just nothing excellent or amazing, but its probably lots of fun and great for a racing game. The songs overall don't seem great to me so far, but its one heck of a comp for what it is, and for a soundtrack I'm still surprised. Most racng soundtracks are fucking techno, dance, rock crap. Like the music in Burnout 3, a rather great racing game, had rock, pop, just more mellow music that just plain sucked. Too bad they didn't have a good soundtrack like the one here.

But seriously, is this a first to you guys? Psytrance in games? This is the coolest artist line-up I've EVER SEEN for a video game to date, even if not all the songs are great, several seem good; really cool. Most people who play GT don't even know what the hell psytrance is!

The Hallucinogen track sounds decent or pretty good, but nothing great or all THAT good to me. After all these years its kind of curious as to why Hallucinogen would appear on a video game soundtrack, ya know? Like what about a third main album??? The X-Dream track one is so-so, probably more fun to play a game to than actually pay much attention to, cause its more technoish than anything, or tech-trance. But their (X-Dreams) name alone grabs my attention because of the great work they have done years ago.

I wonder if this soundtrack is in the recently released US version of the game. Regardless, they (this soundtrack) should be available to listen to while you're racing for all versions. It should really enhance the music experience for gamers, especially on those detailed night tracks. Overall, this seems like its really good for a soundtrack during the actual racing game, but to me, if I wasn't looking at it for what its made for, I wouldn't be AS excited or interested, but I'd still be interested... :D.

And to AmithabaBuddha, Seraph, and the others who seem on the same page with certain things, I don't sound like I have a problem with psytrance in a game like GT4 because I'd rather see decent or perferably good psytrance made for quality game (s) than copies, shitty psytrance, minimal, more generic full on, a fucking Britney Spears Remix, etc... because that gives psytrance a bad name and introduces psytrance to people unaware at how amazing this foundation and history really is. I don't see this being effected enough to hurt it in a video game like GT4. So for me its interesting because I used to play games too and I thought, why not incorporate the best music in some of the best games? Same thing has gone for movies too, but when I say that I think of quality psytrance, not the crap thats takiing over the scene and replacing the truly and forever still ahead-of-its-time stuff. I agree 100% that if you're going to make money, at least don't change your style to something everyone else is doing. So when we see those old goatrance artists making Full On its just fucking stupid because we're aware at how great they USED to be, but thats another story for another time. The stuff for GT4 doesn't effect the scene like the crap thats being played in most clubs does, especially when its associated to psytrance or Goatrance. I think you see what I mean. :)

  19. Wait, this is from the actual Playstation 2 Gran Turismo game soundtrack???!!! Is this confirmed and official, I mean why else would they call it that? I'm saying that because I think thats so cool that they have Hallucinogen on Gran Turismo 4, such a known, great racing franchise, so basically by buying this compilation we are buying the soundtrack to the game? Thats where I get a little confused, like I'm surprised that psytrance is in a game, but I think their was some psytrance in Extreme G 3 or one of those futuristic racers on the Playstation or N64 but I'm not sure. I just find it really cool because I used to play racing games and its so boring after a while when you just have the typical techno and trance. Really good psytrance seems to be exactly appropriate for fast, cool, (futuristic especially) racing games need.

  20. Synergy is not goa trance but it is surely perfect psy...

    225857

Hey I was thinking about that. I thought they were both goatrance, but I found myself liking the first one over Synergy because something about the melodies was so great, for me more catchy overall than Synergy, even though most people consider Synergy as great or better.

So what exactly makes Synergy Psytrance and Cosmology goatrance? I mean, Cosmology sounds more old-skool and melodic, and Synergy sounds more modern while still having a good amount of melodies; they are both psychedelic sounding, but (?) why would Synergy not be goatrance? Or would you consider it psychedelic goatrance? ;)

And I heard the samples for Cosmosis 5th album. Hmmm... while obviouly psytrance.

OMG!!! No. Please tell me track 7 called Re-Order is an accidentally placed sample! If not, then he took the song, bassline, beat, melodies, and hum's from that popular, mainstream song that goes... "Do it like they do on the discovery channel..." Whats that artists name? I can't place my finger on it right now. Some of you have got to have heard that song before! It has a guy singing to it, "So do it like they do on the discovery channel." Yeah, no, this can't be right. And that song or sample uses ALL THE SAME SOUNDS as that mainstream radio song, including all the melodies!!! Is this a joke? This can't be him, I heard this the other day on in a club and it sounded the same, maybe a little less fast.

Aside from that shock, I still pray this is some mistake! Did you not all NOTICE THIS??? The first several tracks seem less minimal in general for what we'd expect from Cosmosis, and there doesn't seem like there is that many melodies in the beginning, but then several tracks in the middle seem to pick up better and have a decent melody. Overall, its just not that intricate or imaginative sounding when compared to his first two albums. So far I was more impressed with the CONTACT samples then these, but time will tell when this comes out. Track 6 sounds pretty cool to me, but like many others its not all that exciting, you know? I don't know, I'm hoping its much better when it comes out but I'm starting to expect less... This is a more "new" Cosmosis sound than old or close to goatrance in general, and his sound is leaning more toward full-on which worries me a bit because Full On seems to be the ultimate psytrance club-friendly albums, which are usually the least imaginative and risky because they have this formula to appeal to the mainstream, regardless if they innovate a style or fall in the general mold. I HOPE its not that way with Cosmosis. I'll have to hear longer samples when they're available on Saiko Sounds, but I still can't get over what the hell I heard when I clicked on the sample for track 7. That is like, not a song made by Cosmosis unless someone lined up the wrong song to that sample

  21. When is the release date for this?, like psytrance, saiko sounds, etc?

And for the record, if this does turn out to be typical, or not one of the greatest, [and/or] most innovative Full On albums ever!, he'll need the best of luck with his new fans, because most of his current ones don't seem happy! Maybe Izik Levy or DJ Lestat has a seat for in their table in the VIP section. Afterall, those guys make Full On as well now and its so ordinary, ANNOYING, IRRITATING ... its exactly like watering and dumbiing down the artists imagination to compensate for making a bit more money and for the labels' desperate urge to make more capital on a boring but more widely known because its less unqiue, -- sub-genra that is almost always so predictable, ordinary, repetitive, and just plain bad or unimpressive. Something that is mainly exists to rock the speakers in your sterio system or in the club, and when its over, you forget about it and never care to hear it again.

  22. its called "Full ON"

    225164

Its called Full On?! Jesus Christ!!! Is this really Full On or not? I too hope the titles a joke or ironic! That would be so cool to me, but it seems as though it could come off as misleading to the real Full On fans, the ones who buy this thinking its Full On! I don't even want to begin thinking that another once good or great artist sold-out to, few exceptions aside, the most typical, mainstream, common sub-genra in psytrance. That would be disappointing and annoying, unless that is, this album turned out to be amazing and totally reinvent Full-On!, but the chance of it being great Full On is difficult, considering Talamasca and Izik Levy's attempted and sound like everything else out there, with their several basslines, beats, noises, minimal melodies... its pathetic. It sounds as though their doing the least amount of work they've ever done in their careers, and it has no feeling, depth, or spirit. Its just there for DJ's to spin at the clubs.

This would be a unique title if it was anything but real Full On, because then its title would be of pure originality, sarcasm, irony! If this really is Full On that isn't groundbreaking or outstanding (from Planet B.E.N, an artist KNOWN for being innovative and creating such fine and inventive, at one time *groundbreaking* works of trance) well that would suck and my one question is why doesn't he change his fucking name?, because I'm not buying this unless iI consider it great or something that seems just ... all too rare.
