1. Nice deal :)

hmm makes me remember that i got a lot of rare vinyl that I never use.  Maybe it's soon time to get rid of it :)

402094

If I would have that not talking about the price I would sell it to somebody young, a new one who likes it and will keep the vinyl alive...

not a a collector who just wants to have it all and will listen once to it...

if you get my point ??? maybe explained not good

2. i bought a whole bunch of cds once for 7€ each....and it included rarities like Rock Bitch Mafia, IFO, VA-faith, hope & psychedelia. felt quite lucky it was being sold for about 150-200€ on ebay

401881

no way green nuns for 7 euro and IFO for 7 euro ???

next time you play you own me a track I chose :D

3. if it's finished I'll try to do the impossible but I repeat I'll try, to also create an evolution of time in each genre... that's very diifficult and it has to be right so it will be up to jos if he will use it...

I believe goa is not only lot's of subgenres but also fast evolution comparing to other music styles so If I can put some attention to that for the noobies too...

that they don't think astrix created the first goa

4. Go on, good one, you are right, I couldn't really label them in my categories... :) Are there more styles within that psychedelic trance style?

401800

I'm editing my post ;)

Yahel - For The People is not goa and not fullon but pure melodic psychedelic trance...

space cat - shapes of sound

how can I forget PSYSEX is the example of psychedelic trance

Also:

Hara Gobi

Transdriver (2001)

Tromesa

Shakta - Out of Sight

XV Killist

Yumade

Bamboo Forest - Random Future (2002)

Miraculix

5. i think if it's dedicated to newbies, it's important to make difference the other kind of trance (all which aren't linked with psy), especially since some recent people are confused with the "progressive' from a psy view (Freq ,Vibrasphere,Sun Control Species...) & the  clubby progressive (uk sound Paul Van Dyk etc..)

401788

voila that was my thought too...

it's for the newbies not for us, we already know...

and they call it just goa... not psychedelic trance cause psychedelic trance isn't played anymore at parties

you have

old skool

fullon

progressive

that's it nowdays

6. yes you're right put as Kristian & someone else point out, the main key word should logically appeared as Trance & not Psychedelic Trance which is,for this last ,already a sub category of Trance. Furthermore goa sound was created before what Psychedelik trance is defining, so you can't put them starting from a core thing called 'Psytrance'.

I mean the map should be built starting from word 'Trance' in middle then 2 parts:

-trance with all i explained which is trance & pre-goa & down

-the second part would be the current Anoebis part.

401780

now I understand you perfectly and indeed good idea...

a nice vision where the concept trance goes in diffirent directions and so subgenres rise...

yés i wasn't following with your first post preciously...

interesting :)

Ok, thanks all for the input

About the name for the whole genre... I have been discussing this a lot before I made this, and I decided to use the term psychedelic trance, simply because it is trance (that was my first idea), but as there is LOTS of other kinds of trance (club trance, dream trance, hard trance, trancecore,...) I called it psychedelic trance.

Maybe I've should have written (psychedelic) trance, or even "trance which is psychedelic". So Psychedelic trance is not named behind any subgenre, is is just trance music which is psychedelic (and that's where our scene is all about I think).

It's think it's terribly wrong to use the word GOA for today's full on or Progressive... Also because so many people hate the word GOA today for their music... (I hear artists complaining they've never been to goa... if I'm not mistaken Elysium, you said that too? So why calling it goa trance then)

@ SPacemonkey: Dark madness, I used Grapes of Wrath for it, but I could have used Mushy Mystery for instance.

For Dark minimal, I used Creeping Ambivalent Tendencies... Ambivalent Records has a very minimal but not progressive, dark sound...

@ Cinos: Derango not forest music?  You must be kidding! I know lots of forest artists and they all think it's thé modern definition of forest music!

401782

yés but when I went to a fullon party saturdayand meet you at the busstation on monday for example you will ask me...

How was the goaparty ???

and not how was the fullon party ???

many people who don't know a lot about subgenres just call it all goa jos...

we are the ones with some knowledge and vision about evolution but lot's of partypeople really have no idea what all those subgenres is about and just call it goa...

when you will give them your picture and will call everything psychedelic trance they will aks ???

what is goa then ??? :D

just thinking, sharing thoughts, to get an endconclusion or something...

7. I know the threads related to coverdesign,

don't have to teach me.

401746

wooow you are thinking I try to teach you mmmmmmmmm I was just trying to help...

it think you're a bit mad dont' know exactly why but will stop posting here...

never ment to teach you something

8. Then maybe the thread should be called different,

no matter which shade your humor has.

I have simply another opinion on this.

And contrary to the most people reading and answering this thread,

my interest here is related to my work. So i'm eager

to read sometimes something usefull, rather than only noncompetent jokes.

And kid, beware of people which claim themself to have humor!

The old lady from the park.

401722

you just don't share our vision about humor that's it...

no big deal, we are all differents...

but in psynews people got the feeling there were so many stupid covers comparing earlier times they started a thread about it and now every stupid cover release get's posted...

we have a good cover thread too my friend use the search...

don't judge on one moments ;)

9. The bassline is very fullon. As is the structure. Enough for me.

401706

we won't discuss this but the bassline is so but so not fullon woooooooow

the rolling element is pure forest style

the dubble thinking using a lot is so not fullon

you don't hear a 'sjing' every 8 steps...

it's cave music...

but again here we stopp... each his opinion peace :)

10. It's not about being a designer or not.

The thing disturbing me at this thread is the lapidary statements

to some of the work. Even when you people think the design

or idea is stupid – than you should make a statement, which is

contentfull and not only raving.

Sorry if you feel attacked by the reply.

L.T.

HOF'99

401319

it's pure black humor my friend,

a sort of humor psynews users share... don't take it serious,

it's like a bunch of guys sitting in a park laughing at an old lady (you don't do that) but héy nobody hears it...

see ????

11. Maybe but it's still wrong to define psytrance as the overall term over subgenres when psytrance itself is a subgenre. When you do a  thing like this you got to get the terms right.

401692

yés we both totally agree and are on the same level about that fact...

I would just replace it and say GOA like at the end we all do in real life conversations...

we say we go to a goa party tonight but actually they play fullon...

but still they ask you on monday, héy how was the goa ? :D

You put Derango in the wrong section, it's fullon.

401694

derango is not fullon my friend ,

the bassline hasn't got any fullon mark

it's full the psychedelic sounds true but that doesn't make it fullon...

to be fullon there are several main marks that have to be present...

derango hasn't those main marks at all...

12. agree for Trance as overall term.

btw if we start with trance, then in order to be fully exhaustive you may need to add categories such as 'Space' (very first term appeard in the UK in 90 for qualifying the very first trancey productions=> Space was one of the numerous pseudonym of KLF).

Then Chronogically , there's came Trance (early 90's) with a major part of german possee(the vision of shiva 92 ) + Age Of Love (90)+Quazar -Seven Stars(holland)+The Overlords (91).

There's the venue of the acidtrance with Hardfloor (90 or 91).

You've got too the hardtrance or rave side, i mean things like Bonzai releases (Jones & Stephenson 92 or 93), all prod which could released on Rave Mission, let's say Marmion as a big name.

There used to be a short Tribal Trance period in 93 which most representative anthem was Capricorn-20 Hz.

For goa it seems the pionneer stuffs camme out in 94 or 93 depends on how you consider Platipus releases , especially the remix of Casper Pound of  Union Jack - 2 full Moons & A Troat (93).

401686

isn't the meaning of anoebis to have a view of only psychedelic stuff ???

or am I wrong just thinking ?

I remember the bonzai releases very good :D , but that not psychedelic, it's uplifting dance music I guess....

13. Playing a track from this album during the most intense part of a set = mindblowing amazingness.

Playing a track like this to build tension = yer off yer rocker sonny.

Does that mean this fails as an album? Not considering I walked around with a big stupid grin on my face yesterday afternoon listening to it. I can imagine the brain beginning to feel a little tender in case of over-listening however. Health warning needed maybe? Prolonged exposure may cause head explosions?

And BTW the break just before each kick-in on operation pulse... *Mmmmmpwah!*

/kisses fingers with palm closed and then opens palm skyward

328277

mmmmm using filteria as advancement in your set, don't know... it's very hard to play a song after filteria that won't drown into the deepness...

to end a set, super off course :)

I was totally astounded when I first heard this album. It felt like the effect of all the old-schooler requests over the years, through the minimal era, the tech-trance era, the progressive era, and the full-on era, for the scene to get back to its magical roots. It was so fun to hear an album that did old-school better in many cases than the old-school! But the more I listened to it I started to find some things that bothered me. One, I didn't like all the blatant references to Pleiadians. My favorite releases are so because they seem to have come from out of the blue, with little reference to anything else. Two, I didn't like that all the tracks started to blend into each other, and that each track tended to lack character and personality because they were all following a similar programme. The third and final thing that bothered me was that I'd have to wait a while to hear the second Filteria album, which, since some time will have passed, will certainly show more individuality, maturity and style in the music, and will surely be one of the greatest things our genre has ever heard.

401664

well that comparing with pleiedeians people always do is I think because filteria copied one thing from them 100%... those little flying psychedelic birds that go from the left to your right speakers... but that's it... so comparing only based on that I didn't like at all too... pleiedieans is also more subtile and tells more a story, it's not based on the kick of who is the fastest of the most melodic but based on creating a concept that keeps you floathing, very trippy that IFO :)
14. damn it so I'm selling ka sol albums within a month every day <_<

LOL kidding, don't put time in it so, suntrip and my advice selfs itself :)

great news, I'm curious...

suntrip is reallly keeping busy and has artist that paste in the direction they want to release...

nice, looks a bit like suntrip can say of himself that it can be a bit lucky

filteria

very fast khetzal

now ka sol

all of them very popular albums so...

keep it rolling I would say ;)

15. I use to like it back when I listened to more dub, but after starting to listen to more psytrance and chillout it started to sound kinda naive like you said. Nothing beats Scientist vinyls  :D

401649

true it doesne't envolve...

like psy ambient always gets better and better dub like stays swimming at the same place and it's normal you start to compare...

well you have dub that envolves like the famous zion train but that not 100% dub anymore... it's very trance too and they use a lot of dub elements but if you know the roots of dub ,zion train isn't that dubby at all...

but still saw them one month agoo and they know how to entertain the people...

so safe I think :)

ps: scientist is good, always found it very funny he called an album of him 'the best dub album of the world'... If I'm not wrong... :D

16. hardcore ska was the first underground moshpit club music I encountered, back in the early, early 90s. then came ska-punk like the Toasters, etc.

First wave of ska, like Skatalites are the bomb, though..

401647

skatalites rule big time but exist lot longer then the ska punk...

the typical ska-p band is still the best, very motivating and powerfull music imo...

ska is just music for old men that we all didn't like back in the days but they just gave it a new suit, some new vibration, a happy sound and up it scores big time...

seeing skatalatis live is safe, the oldest member is still alive and like 80 or what...

I like he's 10-9-8.... 3-2-1 FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDOM ! :D
