The reason I asked about creative process was that originally I was trying to put together everything for a chorus instead of starting right at the beginning. The only good thing about this method is that you know if the drum samples are going to work with the rest of the track. I guess there is no "right" way to make trance. Whatever process it takes you to get there. Now I start right at the beginning and work my way from there.
great! there is no "right" in making music at all, not only in making trance music. and take your time. a master's never fallen straight from heaven

You can go there blindly, just expect some strange vocals in one or two tracks....but acid sounds with real TB's, it's rare nowadays to find liveact who perform like this, it will be for sure not a laptop live act...the party is in a mythical place for the switzerland freaks, if I remember well, he was called traxx before, there is a lot of place to dance and very good atmosphere !!! But if decide to go, be there early...
yeah this place is very well known, a legendary club. all the techno elite has visited it at least once.
i just HAVE to post the flyer, it's so retro and awesome http://www.rohstofflager.ch/Default.aspx?m=prog scroll down and click FLYER.
sooo looking forward to it!

i dont believe in a specific process or in a certain course that the work is being done in. in my humble opinion, this is how tracks are done, but not songs.
basically i think it starts with an idea. have a sound that would suit as beginning of the tune? go on and arrange it. then go further. what would be cool to enter after that sound? etc. thats how i do it, and it works for me better than anything else. but everybody has his/her way...find your own!
what will you do with the info you requested in your last line? will it help you? dont think so. dude, dont hurry "turn off your mind...relax...float downstream (Spcae Tribe)"

when i have a concept in mind and an idea how the track should sound like in the end, it takes me a week to do it (when working on it every day after work for 3 - 5 hours). when i dont have this, it doesnt make any sense working on it, because i'll get nowhere.
for example, i was working on a track from november to january, but i didnt have any concept or basic idea, i even didnt like it very much. so in those three months i just made about 4 minutes of the tune, and then i figured out that i actually did have no clue what it should be in the end. so that day i stopped with that tune and started a new one, which i had some ideas for, and this track came into existence after 5 days.
this issue is very weird sometimes

they're playing live in switzerland again in march i think. gotta verify the date. i'll be there if possible...i dont know what to expect really, i havent heard much of them (shame on me, i know), and the stuff i heard is ages old. i'll check their newer stuff before going to their live.
thanks for this thread btw. without it, i'd certainly have forgotten their soon visit to switzerland

i find it particularly sad that psytrance genre always is adapting rather than creating or getting a fresh breeze from inside the genre. imagine the vice versa for a second, black metal bands texting about bees and flowers and lsd. this wouldn't be happening, because of a certain pride for that genre, which seemingly a lot of people don't have who mix psychedelic trance with this kind of sound.
i'm not saying there is anything wrong in projecting bad feelings with your psytrance music. but if you deicde to have a concept, you have to explain it.
as i see it, this just had an unlucky start, but the two guys are to blame themselves. if you want to make conceptual music about cannibal's holocaust, nothing wrong with it, but then you have to be true to yourself and your concept. layering the star of david under the om symbol, and that completed with the slogan cannibal holocaust, is just plain nonsense, and has nothing to do with the cannibal holocaust thingie at all. myself, i like references to greek mythology in my tunes, and given that i would never come to the idea of putting an om symbol on a picture or cover

IFB - Der Grosse Kumpo is a classic imo it's on Vibration 4 by Medium now Midijum Records.
-
cosmic stuff, i'm listening to it too right now.
currently playing Smoke A Lot.

i dislike both strobo and that artificial fog/smoke whatever, everywhere. i'd prefer no moving lights anyhow (besides the discoball (?), i kinda enjoy that one)...just a few static coloured lights would be enough for me.

hm i thought i'd already replied here...i must have been dreaming then.
however, have you heard Prime Time Plastix - Brett Pop? it's on http://www.discogs.com/release/159966 . one fine compilation that is.

hehe, this reminds of "Tod Eines Hippiemädchens" by Reinhard Voigt on Kompakt Total 1. probably the most minimal tune in my book ever.

i've always loved Kompakt Records...

What is the true original progressive if mentioned artists destroyed it?
i guess they killed their own creation then but old atmos and new atmos

I think 2006 will be better with new albums from Prometheus, Ott, Infected Mushroom (probably) and maybe Hallucinogen now the Shpongle project has come to a head.
i thought this funny somehow, because none of these got released actually now i at least understand your dissappointment.

...and I cant wait till digital / downloadable media is the standard, we are getting there Im happy to say :-)
i SO hope not
...but, as said before, to each his/her own
i do prefer cd's, although i love vinyl. but if they have both the vinyl and the cd at the shop, i buy the cd...cause its more handy, easier to record to md etc....but nothing can beat the feel of a vinyl...
