hey people, i was on astral projections site, and they recently released a bunch of mp3's to buy and download on a couple of sites. well one of the sites has a song i have never heard of before, and it is amazing. i only previewed it for now, but if its on a cd i will want to buy that cd. The song is Called Muaddib, and you all can check it out here
http://www.trackitdown.net/genre/psy_trance/track/7521.html
tell me what you think of this guys
PEACE
love them all... as always
u can get back from hell and muaddib (also named mohadive) on the following compilations: psytisfaction and raveolution reloaded. mohadive is a coop with dynamic and mahamudra was made in a couple of hours live on a radio show... as far as i know

there's like a million lame names... and a million cool ones. it's all about individual taste anyway
gms - do androids dream of electric sheep is one of the coolest track titles i know of. too bad they did not make that up themselves though. gms also have a lot of cheesy ones like jaws, shrek, haloween, gladiator... wtf i that all about?

In my ears compressing everything and too much is the most common mistake that fresh producers do.
I rearely compress even kick and bass, and only compress leads if needed becasue i have problem controlling dynamics in a sound if for example the synth design make the level vary to much when doing filter sweeps.
My favoured compressor for obvious and pumping results is Sonic Timeworks - Compressor X
that is very true actually, still u can't achieve the massive and crystal clear sound of astrix (as an example) without using compressors and eq
-
-
tried messing with your buffer settings in reason?
-
one for kick, one for bass, then i sometimes route them together and compress on top of that again to get it sound real tight. i usually compress bass, drums and vocals. no need to compress leads unless u do it in a creative way. I usually use Waves L2 or L3 on the final mix.
-
that is very true! the sh-101 and virus makes some pretty awesome basses too

Hi,
has anybody some experience with that synth ?
we have the vst V-Station and the sound is realy cool. the problem is that the fx section produces some crackle and noise when you turn it on.
anybody know if it is the same using the hardware K-Station ?
we looking forward to buy the hardware and so it would be nice to have a comparison between the vst and the hardware !
THX Schallusion
if u get drop-outs it might mean either not enough CPU power or low efficiency in audio drivers. never had any similar problems with v-station vsti.

i just did one with the poco 01 but i have no place to upload the sample... where do u guys usually upload samples of your work?

ok, it sounds roughly like it; what i've done sounds a bit fuller and doesn't have that 'digital' kinda sound.
maybe someone can get closer to the sound?
lets ask AP how they made it!
ok, sounded cool, but too hollow... i bet they did that sound on their sh-101. i'll try to do a clone with my powercore 01 and post it if i can come up with something close to it.

ok... this is a realy difficult one. i dont know if its realy an astral track, but it was played in avi nissims dj set and in a Guy Sebbag dj set. i'll try my best to describe it...
well, there is a great melodoy that repeat itself over and over again and i t seem to rise and rise and get louder and than goin down and so on...
please if you know this one, i'll be very very gratefull.
it would really help if you could describe it some more since these guys have been releasing stuff under like 10 different names...
does it sound oldschool or not? what type of sounds? sounds to me like it's very minimalistic... maybe something
from the earlier days of sfx, aban don, mantra or even dazzle pulse?
hmm.. only track i can recall astral has had anything to do with star wars is the domestic remix of life on mars. ido used some c-3po and r2d2 sounds. no melodies i can think of, sorry... anyway, which star wars melody is this? the theme?
-
it might be cliche in the way that it is their most famous track. still, genious work. if u listen to it carefully, this track has like 20 layers of different melodic themes playing throughout the track. that is sooo coool

Im trying to use both vb-1 or novation bass-station, and even after fiddling and fiddling, twisting all sorts of knobs and looking at all pre-sets, I can only get these dirty sounding bass the closest one I found was the sequenz bass from vb1, after a bit of messing around, which is the more ´tight´ one of the presets....
is there some effect that helps in doing the basslines? maybe something to make it more ´carved´ or powerful (sorry for the subjective words, but thats the best I can say)...
or maybe some other vsti?
thanks
if u're looking for that clean punchy full-on bass it's all about eqing the hell out of vb-1

anyone here use this program? its great for getting down whats in your head instead of drawing little boxes like in reason/cubase/cakewalk/logic. its also got 3 band eq, sweepable mids on each channel, unlimited vst's (well, your cpu) automation on all vst parameters.
a nice touch is the vsti info's on the site, well worth a look anyway

omg k thx no thx

i've been playing around with the beta for a while now and i must say i'm not too impressed by the new stuff they've come up with. the combinator is a handy tool though... i actually sent them a mail right after 1.0 got released and suggested that they should add a function like this. took them some time though
the mclass suite does nothing special, really... i rather prefer rewiring through cubase and use my precious waves plugins. but hey, it's great to have these units integrated though.
the line mixer is also a usefull device, but i don't see why they haven't added this feature earlier... just like their new browser that should have been in place when they first released reason. speeds up your work, really.
the problem with reason for me is... i always feel like i want or need something more when i use it, and that really is destructive for my creativity. the sound u get out of reason will always sound "reason" and that is just not good enough for me.
still, i will go out and buy it just like i did when 1.0, 2.0 and 2.5 was released! =)

here are some tracks with the spezified hat:
space tribe - gods chosen people (the first hat who comes in and the second)
hallucinogen - deranger (also the first hi hat which comes in)
they sound more like when you say tssss with the englich spoken t in the front
and they sound very sharp!
without listening to your examples, i can say hihats usually sounds very sharp and clear because of having their own sonic space in a mix where no other frequencies interfere. when mixing, try to use a combination of hi-pass filters and dipping of mid frequencies to achieve a thinner and crisper sound. many ppl tend to not eq out the mids from hihats but rather turn down the volume to make room for other instruments, but u will then no longer have any sparkle and the hihats will probably be buried in the mix.
do you know a vst-plugin clone of tr-909/808/707 or something like that? we dont't want to buy hardware in present.
I use Wizoo's Platinum24 Electronic Drums Sample CD. High quality samples from Roland's venerable TR-808 and TR-909 drum machines.

This is what i was looking for....
"Overtone singing is a technique with which a single human voice can simultaneously produce two or more clearly audible tones. The usual sensation of hearing a single tone in the voice shifts to hearing a low drone with seemingly independant tones high above it. This unique style of singing challenges the ears and the voice to explore the subtle dimensions and colors of sound. In central Asia this way of vocalising has been practiced for centuries by Tibetan monks and several Turco-Mongol nomadic tribes."
So... now i believe you
there are actually some even better examples at http://www.fusica.nl/singing.htm
to demonstrate just this...
-
i have difficult to believe the second sample is a human voice only... it's processed, eq'ed and filtered, so it's hard to tell how it originally sounds like... if so, can u please provide me with a link to an equal sounding monk chanting that high pitched sound and not a voice altered in some way, i might believe you:) anyway, the human beings never stop surprising me...
-
as for human voices or not, the second sample reminds me a lot about an ancient norwegian instrument used by a folk group called "samer". it sounds very much like a jew's harp, but it's somewhat higher pitched and can hold a tone longer... so it doesn't have to be a human voice. the ringing in the higher frequencies sounds to me like it is not a pitched tibetanian monk sample, but more like a real instrument. but i might be wrong:)
most energetic and powerfull psy, goa track ever?
