Metal is one of the most estabilished alternative music genres in the entire world, it beats dnb, psytrance, dubstep, gabba and yes even techno in terms of popularity and scene size, so yeah it's normal that it stays alive after all these many years of discographical chaos and destruction.

one thing you can guarantee and that is nothing ever stays the same...Of course it wont stay underground, if that happened then there would be no new input and the genre would just die.... I quite like most music out there ...i dont know, maybe its malleability is what i like...i found myself listening singing and dancing to Scream&Example, something i would never ever have thought would happen.....this music is meant for teens....music has always been meant for the teens..nothing as embarrassing as finding out your mum likes your music eh?
I have had the same argument about Acid Techno....to me its about UK Acid Techno... recently i have had loads of european style acid techno to sift thru and its just NOT what i am looking for, its just wrong! but why is it wrong? just because its not from the London SUF crowd so it sounds different, but i cant get my head round it....we all like what we like..
to keep it underground and selective means it will die out with that group of people who WILL move on to different styles once they get bored...
btw.. i quite like that track you posted....(O the shame....)
And what exactly IS the difference between UK and non-UK acid? Can you give me some examples?
Personally I like Fabulous 23s, Osmo and Ben 9mm for acid and I don't think any of them are UK-based, so they all must suck **** in your eyes XD.

I'm not a fan of Mainstream Gabber, Jumpstyle, Hardstyle ect... but I am adoring some of the stuff that gets released in the Darkcore/Industrial Hardcore sections. Like you all mentioned before in this thread, Hardcore is one of these few electronic styles that gets killed by all the crap that involves cheesy trance synths, monotone kicks and the retarded racist/sexist/nazi vocal samples, but if you look beyond, you'll find that hardcore is pretty much like drum & bass, techno, dubstep and psytrance (varied that is). For quality stuff, you always have to look a little further than you plan to.
Here are some youtube clips that I find to be decent:

Can't complain though. The other day when I was playing Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer deathmatch I was thinking how far the same basic idea had come.

Well besides Meshuggah, I can count myself being a massive fan of Fear Factory too. Even though there isn't, I see a giant resemblance between these two bands, they both seem to create a certain vibe that not many bands carry around these days. Meshuggah is more complex though.

Well, this track deserves a medal for being ridiculously interesting and innovative (no pun intended), so thank you for your contribution.

The first one is chaotic, the second one is bassey.

Not really following the current game trends but I like all the Doom, Quake and Unreal series.

Since it's about "psychedelic" Tech-trance and X-dream got posted, I personally couldn't leave this masterpiece out, this track's a whole journey to me.

You might wanna check this track if you're looking for drum & bass/dubstep hybrids, it's basically a dubstep track with lot of drums in it, probably not what you're looking for anyway but doesn't hurt to try.

Dark psytrance has Z-Cat, who is a very talented female artist from russia, her music is a bit cheesey at times (hence the female vocal samples) but the production and sound-design is like something we could all learn from, just beyond perfect, she's one of my favorites, when I think about darkpsy I instantly think about her work included, next to Cosmo, Highko, Kindzadza, Furious, Electrypnose and so on.

For all those who recommended Meshuggah, I can only salute them, Meshuggah are beyond godlike.

And Catch 33 is their best album, by far...

I like this track, it's like psytrance without the psy if you know what I mean.
The production isn't over the top like all the other 00's trance tracks and it's quite light and crisp, yet colourful.

Even though this is breaks technically, I do consider it being a bit electro house-ish, it's very uplifting yet so dark & rancid...
Best psyfarts ever!
