  1. i think i remember this... my gf played in her car a few time... it was one of those mixed in album where the whole album was a mixed set (bit like orbital's brown album). if it is, yep 10/10.

    great label (though i haven't looked into their recent stuff...). liked some releases back in late '90 with long steady build-up (cores' matabu, babylon, multica, etc.). some of theirs with sped-up housy feel i wasn't too keen on.

  3. have you ever while driving and listeng to psy, and  stop and then acelerate again, the music pump it intensity up... like if it where in sync, or when your really fast and then you go faster, and music star going faster at the same time,,,,,,  (it really get more interesting if your high),,, it feels really good... it makes my heart goes faster, hhehe... see? it was a really forgetable question....

  5. i have question for you peeps:

     

    for the releases that are out-of-print for several years, is it uncool to share copies with others? i have previously shared copies of the mystery of yeti (the first one) with coupla friends as they have been out of print for several years. it seems such a loss not to share amazing piece of musical work that TMOY is, and i would gladly point out where they could have gotten a copy excecpt that simply wasn't possible (i found out while back that TIPWorld re-released them so i got my friends legit copies).

     

    now, i very much disagree with those who feels it's ok to copy music for whatever reason, particularly in scene like psytrance where 20k copies sold are considered big "hit." but if they are out-of-print, and you know there are people who really, really want them, would it be so wrong to share them?

     

    (god, i live in america - RIAA's lawyers're gonna come after my ass...)

  6. sun project 2000 - by 3am, you brain is orbiting somewhere around saturn, and then you see these three aliens emerge with huge buggy eyes, banging drum kit and guitar. every time the drum-smacking alien hits a hi-hat, green neon arrow shoots thru the entire side length of the warehouse. gotta get me one of them alien masks. met this super hot girl from ethiopia as well - ok, that's another story. ;-)

  8. i disagree completely. firstly house/club/shit music is mixed using 2 turntables and a mixer. psytrance "performers" use much more. and they dont use gimmicky turntable trickery like hardhouse djs would because it doesnt sound right doing that with psytrance. the mixing style is completly different, but mixing psy requires 10x more skill than mixing hardhouse or hard trance or something like that. for instance, even when phil reynolds or lisa lashes or whoever mix their tune in, you can hear when she is brining the new tune in. with psytrance dj's, YOU DO NOT NOTICE THE TRANSITION. that is f**king difficult and that is what a good mix is. psytrance djs are in a whole differnent league to hardhouse djs's. get your facts straight mate.

    if by "performer" you mean these "live acts," then we are comparing apples and oranges. but then, i sometimes see such "live acts" simply being the guy bringing loads of un-released tracks on a laptop (i.e., pre-recorded) and sticking it to pa system to play them. what's so special/live about that? yeah, some others actually bring racks of their gears and do bit of live mixing (mixdown), so that's bit more interesting.

     

    i agree that mixing style would be different for psy than others - no mystery there. and, of course, we are not talking about "facts" here.

  9. Awesome oldie. The orange theme is such a classic acid trance. The sharp, arpegiated acid lines are laid out in a imperceptably smooth-progressing, soft melody. It demonstates the term "trance." Gee, this is such a snooty description. It's so good that it makes me type silly-sounding thing like this.

    one element i very much miss is the semitic/arabic key/melody (i am thinking "electronic").  i'd like to see them add some more of that.

    i want to add, though, i got to see them a month ago here in SF (US), and they were true to the form. an awesome night. it was such treat to hear "Let there be light".

    (big prop to the beautiful girl who dance whole night on the stage ;-)

  11. I find this album disappointing from someone who has heard EVERY AP ALBUM EVER RELEASED AND I OWN EVERY ONE OF THEM. Astral Files was much better, probably because AP remixed thier own songs on Astral Files.

    these are stuck in my mind cuz they got me into goa trance. i used to be into german/british/detroit stuff before:

     

    orbital: 2 (brown one)

    klf: chillout (plus endless remix releasese of their main tracks like wtil, 3am eternal, etc.)

    just about anything by oliver lieb

    early releases on noom, particularly Cores

    union jack/claudio gui-something (sorry :-) stuff

    vartious detroit stuff (the three kings, UR, etc.)

     

    i want to go back to '95-96. what happend to goa trance?!

  13. Infected Mushroom. Theirs sound like they were all done with software synths and software effects. Very tinny sound. The melody is also very conventional - nothing wrong with that, except I look for different types of melodies/keys for goa/psy music. The jazz/classic infusion was fresh for a while, but after all this is psy, not pop jazz, right :-)

  14. - great rhythmics (hard and steady bassline with not a big range of tones (fullon types of bassline with many different short tones which shake with my stomach are annoying me). i like tracks with good percusions and many metallic samples which help the rhythmics to work like a heavy machinery that shatters all your bones.

     

     

    "thirst" by seeka?

     

    the description above brings to mind the comp "50th" by flying rhino, which has the tune mentioned above. others on the release are of similar ilk, though "thirst" is my favorite on it (hell of build-up track). but this the release is a few years old, and not sure it fits other criteria (don't recognize the tracks you listed, and i don't know half the stuff i have).

     

    the rumor a few years ago was that flying rhino was going out of business. wonder if that's what happened? that would be sad...

  15. i didn't know absolum is the other half of transwave. i saw absolum's gig coupla weeks ago - the 3d vision sound (or perhaps absolum's sound) is, as you described, bit one-sided - it's the same baseline all the way thru. but entertaining night, nevertheless.

    The remix of Let there be light is also quite enjoyable, although not as good as the original. Still, I think this one will work well on the dancefloors, the climax is very well made.

     

    BLT's mix of Visions of Nasca is the one that impressed me the most. They basically made a progressive version of AP's oldschool track. At first it sounds surprising but it all sounds so good that you end up enjoying it. To make yet another parallel, if you ...

     

    AND this one will surprise you but the track that I expected to be the worst of them all, Flemming's mix of Mahadeva (basically I thought this was going to be a cheezy remix of an already-cheezy track...), but no! It's pretty damn good!! The synthlines

    joof's version of mahadeva indeed is good. it's in sorta same spirit - the original was pretty cheesy, and the remix is also anthemic/cheesy, but very well done.

     

    agree that alien project's "people can fly" remix was disappointing. look forward to hearing the versions of "vision of nasca" and "let there be light," though (i haven't heard "ten" - i only have joof's mahadeva which is released separately by joof)
