Since the first time Cathar showcased their music it was clear something special was in the making. In a short space of time the duo managed to shape and perfect their unique sound - resulting in the upcoming release of their hard hitting debut EP on Free-Spirit Records.
Many years of crafting their skills in various styles of dance music has enabled them to deliver top class material for this EP and the following debut album, The Union. Their impact has already seen them build up a loyal fan base and we are sure this will grow explosively with this release.

CATHAR is a brand new psychedelic music group formed by Steve Morley and Jessica B. Both have already enjoyed considerable success in their musical careers in various genres. Steve Morley has been a record producer and DJ since 1992, and is a classically trained pianist and composer. Steve has a discography containing in excess of 120 releases and countless remixes - on highly respected record labels. His love for Trance music saw him produce and play almost all sub genres, and his affection for psychedelic music stems from the time he discovered Goa trance in the mid 90’s. Jessica B started working as a producer and DJ in 2005 instantly receiving recognition and praise for her first releases, which gained massive Radio 1 support. During her career, Jessica discovered her love for psychedelic music and teamed up with Steve to form their new group. Since that moment they have been on a long creative journey together, shaping and fine tuning their sound while testing their new material on stage.

JOURNEY's second Album 'Through The Mirror' (Press Release)
Howdy music lovers, welcome to a special edition of What Does Free Spirit Records Have New For You? Regular readers will know that Free Spirit Records is London based psy-trance label that has been bringing us aural wonderment through umpteen releases (too many for this humble journalist to accurately recall) from around the globe and across the spectrum. And the reason why this a special edition of WDFSRHNFY? Because it heralds the return of Jay OM’s other half, the producer Journey, and the release of his second full-length album – Through the Mirror.
Jay OM/Journey have been doing it tough over the winter months, foisting their immeasurable talents upon the natives of southern Africa. Winning great acclaim and fostering many a friendship. Prior to this though he could be found squirreling away in his North London studio channelling his creativity to create the ten tunes that make up this latest offering all the whilst trying to avoid the concerns that come with following up the success of The Man Who Sold Time, his 2009 debut album.
The album feature some killer collaborations including artists such as Tron, Rastaliens, Holophonik, Monastic Squid and finishing with a superb downtempo track with Alexampt and Mononegro.

JOURNEY is Giampiero 'Jay' Mastino born in Italy and now resides in London. His earliest psychedelic-rock influences were forged playing guitar in local bars in Milan and his romance with the decks began in the late 80's whilst working for a local radio station where he was given the opportunity to spin his first record.
This love firmly in place the move to London followed in 1998. In 1999 he started djing professionally as Jay OM and since then has been rocking the crowds at many of the biggest venues in London as well as outdoor parties in the UK, Europe, South America & South Africa.
In 2003 he studied Sound Engineering and Music Technology and began solo production under the name Journey. In 2009 started a progressive project under the name Omsphere and in 2011 a collaboration project with Ralph K under the name Crocodile Rangers
In 2004, he conceived the vision of a network of like-minded artists in the psy-trance and ambient genres, all working to promote themselves and each other under one banner. Thus the Free-Spirit label was born... Originally intended to focus on artist management, the label's skyrocketing success combined with the enthusiasm of Jay, the artists, and fans enabled Free-Spirit to outgrow its horizons. Free-Spirit continues to build a collective of artists and djs from around the globe, aiming to create and provide access to a combined set of resources not available to them as individuals, making it just a little easier for all to concentrate on what they truly love, which is the music!

DJ PROZAK has been DJ'ing for the past 16years and is truly in a class of his own. With current residencies around the globe and running his own promotion Cohesion, there isn't a club he hasn't played at. With a collection of over 35,000 records this DJ can turn his hand to literally any style of music.
Not content with just playing records. DJ Prozak produces, engineers & re-mixes tracks & dj demos at his studio (LG4) in London. This DJ plays along-side the worlds most famous DJ's (Infected Mushroom- Astrix- Paul Van Dyk - Jeff Mills- Christian Smith and of course Tiesto) 2 name but a few. Famed for his monumental euphoric psychedelic full on trance sets, electro & progressive cutting edge dance.

Journey :: Through the Mirror (Free-Spirit Records) REVIEW: Steve Morley
Out on Exclusive Beatport Digital 20/09/2011, CD Release 23/09/2011 and General Digital Release 20/10/2011
The long awaited second album from Journey called ‘Through The Mirror’ has finally landed, with a big bang, not caused by heavy handed viral promotion or hype but by pure quality of the music. This is another big release for Free-Spirit Records and I applaud them for not taking the easy route but offering this album on CD as well as download. To me - this shows huge belief and commitment towards the artists they work with and the music they release.
Every single track on the album (10 in total) show great progression from the first album and prove that with the right combination of musical talent, passion and hard work you can achieve amazing results. Not only do I rate the artistic content of the album highly, but I’m equally impressed with the production quality. Too often this part on the road to completing an album comes up short and results in listening fatigue for the listener. No such thing however - when it comes to Journey aka Jay OM! H! e clearly understands how important clarity, dynamic range and spatial perception is in music.
As I really like all the tracks on offer it was difficult to single some favourites out, but here we go;
‘Psychedelic Fusion’ (Journey vs Rastaliens) – A low Bass line supported with a firm but not too punchy kick drum takes you right away in the darker territories of Psy trance. Great drive and innovative sound design complete the sonic picture in a successful bid to create a form of ordered chaos, which is impossible to resist resulting in the brain ordering your body to move. As the track progresses and melodic passages slip in, a state of total trance is upon you.
‘Spirit Molecule’– The balance between groove and leads is just right, quickly taking your mind from wherever it was at the start of the track straight into orbit. Many travelling sounds, in essence extremely simple but so effective, right ! away capture your attention without being intrusive. The arran! gement i s well thought out and the mix very well executed - making it a perfect track for any dance floor.
‘Monkey Sees, Monkey Do ‘– A perfect demonstration of restraint in building a track and what effect this can have! This track moves and grooves from start to finish and builds up and down throughout with care and attention to detail. At times the feel of the track changes from progressive to full on trance and back, adding to the perception that you are on a very long deep journey of the galaxy.
All in all Journey has created a timeless album here which I’m sure will be stuck in many people’s audio players for a long time. It certainly deserves a lot of attention and recognition! The album is out on the 20th September for download and 23rd September on CD so treat yourself and get a copy!

In early 2011 Cathar formed their new psychedelic trance act and locked themselves in the studio – dedicated – to finding their sound, and to create music that would make them happy and hopefully many others too. Now they've arrived at this point, they are extremely happy and proud to announce that they have joined Free-Spirit Records! A label that they feel shares many of their visions and ideas, and who have proven to be a beacon of light in the scene and in the music industry in general. Information about the release dates of the upcoming EP and Album will be made public as soon as they are confirmed. ITAL BIO:
Ital, musician of Chilean origin, sound engineer, label manager of Antu Records Chile, DJ & producer of Psytrance music, has been in contact for more than 13 years in the musical world, starting his carrier like a guitar player, going through several styles of popular music, until he arrived to his true passion: Psychedelic trance music. He started the year 2001 with his friend Andrés Rodillo with whom he got involved into the production of Psytrance electronic music, forming one of the pioneering projects of the local scene: "Metatron". In the beginning, experimenting with samplers, synthesizers and audio software’s allowed them to introduce themselves in the national electronic world, playing live and with great success in different places of the country. Three years later, in 2004, he decided to create his own project, "Ital”, that in Patois African dialect it means purity, and which he uses to promote himself in different scenes of Chile, Europe and America. Because of this, each production of Ital has like fundamental concept the expansion of all the purity that surrounds us, canalising through music all this divine and universal energy that surrounds us to be given and to be projected like sound waves towards our surrounding universe. His style is characterized for being a Groove Full on with a very own character and style, full of atmospheres, much groove and psychedelia. Since September 2007 he created and began the first psytrance Chilean label denominate: " Antu Records " which name comes from the indigenous Chilean language that means sun. The purpose and intention is to expand the light and divine energy all over the world through the psytrance music, to connect our selves with our roots and feel our hearts full of spiritual healing. Has shared scene with big name projects from the international psytrance present scene from all the continents, among them: Dickster, Tristan, Zen mechanics, Headroom, Liquid Soul, The First Stone, Burn in Noise, Rinkadink, AMD, 28, M-theory, among others... Has play in countries like Japan, Germany, England, Brazil, Switzerland, Denmark, Portugal, Czech Republic, Austria, Italy, Scotland, Greece, Netherlands, Chile, Mexico, Argentina, Bolivia and Ecuador

CATHAR BIO:
Cathar is a brand new psychedelic music group formed by Steve Morley and Jessica B. Both have already enjoyed considerable success in their musical careers in the field of Trance. Steve Morley has been a record producer and DJ since 1992, and is a classically trained pianist and composer. Steve has a discography containing over 120 releases and countless remixes - on highly respected record labels. His love for Trance music saw him produce and play almost all the sub genres, and his affection for psychedelic music stems from the time he discovered Goa trance in the mid 90’s. Jessica B started producing and Djing in 2005 and instantly received recognition and praise for her first releases, which gained massive Radio 1 support. Not satisfied with being a producer and DJ, Jessica also co owns the Essential Recordings label - on which she has released her latest trance tracks. During her creative journey, Jessica discovered her love for psychedelic music and teamed up with Steve to form their new group. They are currently working hard on their first artist album and hope to present it to the world very soon!
