What happens when you get two self-prescribed studio junkies together to make a psy-progressive tune? Well, two months later you have a whole album! And who are these casualties? They are Sonic Wave Control and the result of their addiction is the, soon available on Free-Spirit Records, eight-track release Sixth Sense.
But shouldn’t we be concerned for the aforementioned producers, Jay OM and Steve Morley? Who between them have more aliases than there are Smiths is an English phone book. Probably not, with these nom de guerres taking them across the world, and the psy-trance spectrum, resulting in them bringing a wealth of rockin’-the-dance-floor experience to the mixing desk. Sure their Vitamin D levels could use a boost but with us the listener being the immediate beneficiary I certainly don’t think there is reason for alarm.
Sixth Sense resonating with a clean crispiness you would expect from a pair with their affliction and reverberating in psy-progressive sensibilities, an occasional melodic ray of sunshine peeking through layers of intelligently constructed percussion so that for the periods that one experiences its simplicity-in-complexity the concerns of the universe are left for another time.
Proving that, rather than being candidates for internment, Sonic Wave Control are another diamond in Free-Spirit Records’ glittering tiara.

SONIC WAVE CONTROL is a progressive psychedelic trance act formed by Jay OM (aka Omsphere / Journey) and Steve Morley (aka Cathar / Cosmic Warrior). Both have already enjoyed a long musical career in a variety of musical styles and have spent many years perfecting their production skills. After meeting each other at the start of 2011 they developed a strong bond based on their love for psychedelic music and studio equipment. This resulted in a series of studio sessions together, which right away produced some outstanding music. Their style can be best described as - progressive psychedelic trance with a variety of influences of other musical genres such as tribal and electro. The pair quickly felt that the enjoyment and result of working together along with their passion for live performances; meant that it was time to form Sonic Wave Control.

Free-Spirit Records Label Party : Presenting Album releases Cathar -The Union and Sonic Wave Control - Sixth Sense
Saturday 19 May 2012 will see Free-Spirit Records showcasing some of their latest and hottest music including some upfront exclusives at the famous InSpiral Lounge in Camden. The label has been building on their status for a while and they are now cementing their place among the cream of record labels in the psychedelic scene.
The night will kick off with a down-beat set from Cosmic Warrior who is tipped to make some serious waves with his upcoming album on the label.
He will be followed by Omsphere - the highly rated progressive act from label owner Jay OM, showcasing some classics and new material from his forthcoming album.
Also showing some serious intent will be the latest progressive act on the label; Sonic Wave Control – a collaboration of Jay OM (aka Journey / Ompshere) and Steve Morley (aka Cosmic Warrior / Cathar) introducing their highly anticipated debut album ‘Sixth Sense’.
The night will be brought to a close by the fast rising stars of Cathar - the full on psy-trance act who are exploding onto the scene and introducing their debut album ‘The Union’.

What happens when you get two self-prescribed studio junkies together to make a psy-progressive tune? Well, two months later you have a whole album! And who are these casualties? They are Sonic Wave Control and the result of their addiction is the, soon available on Free-Spirit Records, eight-track release Sixth Sense.
But shouldn’t we be concerned for the aforementioned producers, Jay OM and Steve Morley? Who between them have more aliases than there are Smiths is an English phone book. Probably not, with these nom de guerres taking them across the world, and the psy-trance spectrum, resulting in them bringing a wealth of rockin’-the-dance-floor experience to the mixing desk. Sure their Vitamin D levels could use a boost but with us the listener being the immediate beneficiary I certainly don’t think there is reason for alarm.
Sixth Sense resonating with a clean crispiness you would expect from a pair with their affliction and reverberating in psy-progressive sensibilities, an occasional melodic ray of sunshine peeking through layers of intelligently constructed percussion so that for the periods that one experiences its simplicity-in-complexity the concerns of the universe are left for another time.
Proving that, rather than being candidates for internment, Sonic Wave Control are another diamond in Free-Spirit Records’ glittering tiara.

SONIC WAVE CONTROLl is a progressive psychedelic trance act formed by Jay OM (aka Omsphere / Journey) and Steve Morley (aka Cathar / Cosmic Warrior). Both have already enjoyed a long musical career in a variety of musical styles and have spent many years perfecting their production skills. After meeting each other at the start of 2011 they developed a strong bond based on their love for psychedelic music and studio equipment. This resulted in a series of studio sessions together, which right away produced some outstanding music. Their style can be best described as - progressive psychedelic trance with a variety of influences of other musical genres such as tribal and electro. The pair quickly felt that the enjoyment and result of working together along with their passion for live performances; meant that it was time to form Sonic Wave Control.

Delve into the discography of Steve Morley and you will discover a man of many talents with an obvious appreciation for Trance and its sub-genres who has, as a sum total of his many aliases, driven devotees to the dance-floor in their droves for decades.
Cathar is Steve’s latest incarnation and it is a collaboration with Jessica B, herself no slacker behind the mixing desk, that allows them both to explore their affection for psy-trance; expressing it as a studio project and live experience.
The fruits of their labour can now include the full-length feature album The Union, released by London’s source of psy-sauciness Free-Spirit Records whose own back catalogue is quick becoming the embodiment of delectability via diversity.
The Union, other than the closing track which maybe the first example of psy-dubstep, is a part homage to Steve’s earliest influences of this Trance genus, Goa, fused with other, almost indistinguishable, elements from across the spectrum. Rippling with stripped-back, no-nonsense go-forward. The Union’s few frivolities and balance of clear endeavour with driving intensity permitting Cathar to stand firm in comparisons with their contemporaries and a must for those who believe divinity is a direct derivative of dancing.

What do get when you cross an Iranian and a Welshman? No, not cheese kebabs, dodgy stereotypes aside, the answer is actually Akasha. But who or what is Akasha? Well, in fact Akasha is two whos - Babak Rezvani and Shane Harris and their forte is psy-dub with the EP Shamenized being the latest example of which, released on psychedelia’s proponents of the wonders of the world, Free-Spirit Recordings.
Based, oddly enough, in the south-west of England Akasha have mixed their cultural interpretations and musical experiences to provide five tracks of down-tempo goodliness and rolled it into this single package for your easy consumption. Wonderfully macrobiotic in consistency and bristling with an energy that whilst restrained still enables the contemplation of power in its rawest. Each track an individual element that when combined defines the genre that their sound exists within. There is, the eponymous Shamenized daring you to dalliance with the spiritualism of the medicine man, an engaging clarity in Shell the Cell with its almost seaside like soundscape , Each Other re-interpretating some of dub’s more traditional elements, From the Other Side capturing elements of the east- west, planetary-interplanetary divide in which we inhabit and the final Sky Lines showing an innocent sensitivity to all that comes before both here and throughout the realm of music and existence.
So jump onboard for this is time spent wisely.

:: Akasha [biography) ::
Behind the face of Akasha lie two individuals, Shane Harris and Babak Rezvani, both determined to share their love of deep, psychedelic music with the world.
Babak born in Tehran, Iran has a life long passion for music, playing the flute, saxophone and guitar from a very early age. In recent years his talents have extended to the studio where Akasha now produce their music in Cornwall.
Shane from Newtown, Wales has been producing music for over 18 years, working with record labels such as Hustle Recordings, Whoop! Records, Dirtyblue Records and Cuba Recordings. He has also been playing bass, keyboards and guitar for as long as he can remember.
Since 2010 the pair have been working together in the Southwest, producing music that combines various worldwide influences, with the results culminating in trippy, down-tempo, psychedelic chilled-out dub.
To date, Akasha have worked with Mode-one records releasing the VA Compilation ‘Aeriform’ and ‘Yead to give’ EP also with Dubmission records contributing to the VA Compilation ‘The next mission: part one’.
Akasha joined Free-Spirit Records in September 2011.

Jay OM ( Journey / Omsphere / Sonic Wave Control / Crocodile Rangers / Star~Trip) is the DJ name of, Milan born but now London based, Giampiero 'Jay' Mastino, label manager of Free-Spirit Records.
Jay forged his earliest psychedelic-rock influences playing guitar in local bars in Milan. His romance with the decks began in the late 80's whilst working for a local radio station where he was given the opportunity to spin his first record. This love firmly in place the move to London followed in 1998. Soon thereafter he started djing professionally as Jay OM and in 2003 he studied Sound Engineering and Music Technology and began a solo production project under the name Journey and another collaborative project called Star~Trip.
In 2004, Jay conceived the vision of a network of like-minded artists in the psy-trance, progressive and ambient genres, all working to promote themselves and each other under one banner. Thus the Free-Spirit label was born... originally intended to focus on artist management, the label's skyrocketing success combined with the enthusiasm of Jay, the artists and fans enabled Free-Spirit to outgrow its horizons.
Following several successful compilation releases, Journey released his first EP in 2008 and his first solo album, The Man who Sold the Time, on Free-Spirit Records in January 2009, followed by a teaser EP, The Ripple Effect Part I, in July 2010 and his second album, Through the Mirror in September 2011. Journey has also released numerous tracks on several other international labels and also has numerous releases under his other projects. Jay has been rocking the crowds at many of the biggest venues internationally as well as outdoor parties and festivals in the UK, Europe, Brazil and South Africa under his various projects including Boom Festival, Universo Paralello, Origin Festival, Fora do Tempo Festival, Aurora Festival, Vortex Festival, Boomerang Festival, Psionic Visions Festival, Sonica Festival, Samsara Festival, Life Celebration Festival and many more...
Jay also began producing progressive under the name Omsphere in 2009 and has a further psychedelic collaborative project with Ralph K (Braincell/Solar Spectrum/Rastaliens) called Crocodile Rangers and he just recently in January 2012 formed a progressive tribal trance project with Steve Morley (Cathar/Cosmic Warrior) called Sonic Wave Control. Their debut album has been released on Free-Spirit Records in March 2012...
Today, Jay's reputation as an active, involved, and hard working individual in the global trance circuit precedes him. His commitment and enthusiasm for trance music has left an indelible impression on the world scene already and Jay's future has never looked brighter, from his burgeoningly successful record label to his organized events to his upcoming solo releases. Jay works tirelessly at his art and trade and the music he brings to the masses exemplifies the fruits of his labour and energy.
