  1. the beatmatching is fine -- for ambient, track-to-track mixing. But this is not club dj style mixing. Club DJ's actually mix two tracks or more together. Decide what kind of DJ you want to be?. I can set this tracklist on automix and walk away and it would be identical. A club DJ has to be there. Where do you want to be? However, I would rather listen to this than Goa Gil anyday. Don't be afraid for the first time it is great.

My first mix was similiar. Just be you. Don't listen to me. But if it helps doing nothing will get nothing.

  2. Ok... it's very untipical for me to start such a topic... but I know it for sure now... After 10 years of goa listening I had many favourites... Many of them faded away, also many of them are still good when I hear them now... but only 1 track managed to give me goosebumps over and over and over again... Even after year and years and years... So oficially I know have thé ultimate favourite goa track, and that is:

    N.D.M.A. - Vitan!

Don't forget to play it loud on a crystal clear sound system or you miss half of the fun... But then... A gateway straight to heaven... if I die, this should be played on my burial! Posted Image

Sorry, I disagree. Can you explain how you arrived at this decision? Because my defining moment was

    Astral Projection - Enlightened Evolution

  3. DJ Tiesto=Satan

See? I knew it! Posted Image

I remember reading about it in a review some years ago.

    Ok my turn.

Which is the most famous goa troll?

    GOA GIL?

    NEELIX.

What did Juno Reactor discover that enabled them to become serious electronic artists?

That was the thread ender? It was the hardware sequencing machine

    MFG--Project Genesis

What band did Simon Posford team up with to make the first Shpongle Album?

    Hello? Raja Ram.
  4. My hero in this scene is Ree.K. Why? She makes music with no outside input, and if you compare what she makes to the music of her husband

How is that possible? Quantum physics shows the opposite, that we all create what we have the ability to see. So, "outside input" is an oxymoron. All input is from outside, or it would be output.

  5. How did you get the impression that the psy scene has not been nice to women?

because from the early days, it was treated more like a scientific discovery. historically, women have not been given the credit they deserve, especially in discovery. Women have so much power over the environment that they can make it possible for the manifestation of "angelic particles." but their feminine soft sorcery is ignored and they are objectified. when its groovy house music, the need for women is mandatory and gratefully embraced. the icy glare of psy does the opposite when woman need to be thanked because they are the reason for music. they create the music, men just perform coordinated gestures that would be meaningless without the magic that woman weave.

  6. ime yes. of about 5 female DJs in my area only one plays anything other than darkpsy

can you give me a link to a mix?

WTF is cybertrance? Here in Greece I see a lot of women in psytrance parties. Ok maybe the analogy is somethink like 60+/40- , that's still enough women. Same for dubstep/drum&bass parties etc

This was the other music sold in the record store I used to buy from: This is cybertrance: 90% of the females chose this over psytrance.imo

    http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=3F1mY8jH9r0

  7. AFAIK most women are not that interested in extreme genres.

    Yes, they are.

    They chose cybertrance.

There's a massive geekery component to doing this type of thing, and for whatever reason most ladies just aren't interested, even though they're just as good as the lads.

All the chicks flocked to the lameness of cybertrance.

    Not really that valid

not at all. In fact, most chicks are into weird music. Psytrance was too elitist and misogynistic so they went to cybertrance. Plus, woman like to dance and it's difficult to dance to trains wrecking.:P

  8. Well what I tried to said before is that the amount of women that are interested in extreme kinds of music is way smaller that those of males.

From my personal experience about 25%-30% of the guys I know are extreme music fans (metal, hard EDM, etc.)

In girls is way smaller around 5-10%.

ime yes. of about 5 female DJs in my area only one plays anything other than darkpsy

There seems to be a lack of women musicians in a lot of different genres, not just Psy. Rock, Blues, Jazz, Punk, Hip-Hop, Metal, Reggae, etc all seem to have mostly male musicians. There is a definite "nerd factor" to psy music though, since it requires a lot of fiddling with synths/computers.

Why don't you go out and get laid instead of shitting on these threads? :P

    This topic did sound familiar.

Slow? As compared to Izratrance? If this is slow, Izratrance is a fossil. Maybe they could make psynews have chat room ability. That way you can actually have somewhat of a realtime conversation and it wouldn't be slow. Forum-based communication is like a category in your email. But, what would really spice this place up ... more women.

Don't worry that awesome mind-blowing original sound will naturally return. Practice Wu-Wei, for now.

P.S. Thank you for bringing your feminine energy and softness to this typically masculine and stubborn forum. I just realized something...the problem with psytrance is that it's a sausage fest. Screw Mars, Psy needs woman.;)

    Dear Mr Maxfactor,

Although I heartily agree that psy needs women, I regret to inform you that I am not one of them.

Just a big hairy 30something guy who happened to like neverending story when he was little.

    Auryn,

If the question were, "What does 99% of psynews.com's audience have in common?" Answer: "Just a big hairy 30 something guy..." I kid and I joke, but the truth is pretty close and that makes this computer screen a whole lot more attractive. Screw Mars! Psynews Needs Woman. Psytrance in general needs women.

I have another theory, yes another. Psytrance would be a lot more popular, a lot more friendly, a lot more pretty, a lot more creative, a lot more evolved if it didn't scare away so many woman. How many hot woman would flock to the DJ Booth with Goa Gil trainwrecking at 180 BPM? NONE! How many hot woman would flock to the dance floor if it smelled nice, no incense, no patchouli, no dreadlocks-unless your black. Awesome lighting, dancing and mixing with some sort of style, not Grateful Dead Dancing. All of the ones with an IQ high enough to know that DJ Tiesto does not have a Tortilla Chip named after him -- any day now. So, I am ranting again, but am I wrong? Open your mind and your fly will follow. I mean heart.

I don't know but psy seems to be very popular, for men and women. I mean here the crowd is pretty mixed at parties. Obvioulsy more women artists would be nice but you can say that for nearly any musical style since it doesn't matter if you look at snobbish house parties or underground dubstep (or whatever style you wanna name) there are still way less female DJs than male DJs. I think it would take more than a good smelling dancefloor to attracte girls to start DJing. Especially considering that if you enter a party at 10 in the morning (after it was going on for hours allready) there's a nearly 50/50 ratio of males and females on the floor. There is way more going on than Goa Gil DJing and I have the idea that you sort of make the stuff you don't like in the scene (like dreadlook guys :P) responsible for the lack of women. Which is maybe an explanation that is too simple to get close to what it really is about.

I really start to wonder about how psy is in other countries. What you describe has absolutely nothing in common with parties here (or maybe with non-psy parties, especially after-hours in a dark hole). Sure you can be unlucky and hit a party with stupid people (especially indoors) but most of the times it's family vibes, smiling people, everybody taking care of eachother, a good mix of males and females and the music is great too if you care to decide where to go after reading the line-up.

    It's like that here too.

Forums seem to attract a lot of these grumpy old-timers who haven't been to parties for years but still claim to know how things are or what the psytrance scene needs most

So, all these people are wrong, too?;)

  9. Around 1994, there was a massive amount of Electronic Music, produced. No MP3, not even CD burners, no internet. We had to go out and find this music. The computer helps me undestand the magnitude of good music that blanketed our senses. It seems that it was much bigger and more influential than thought. It seems that Psytrance has been commercialized. At least it eludes Pesto's grasp. That means it's time to change it. The electronic music produced from 1995 to the end of 1999 was way better than today. The production quality is better today, but the stuff being produced is not. Before 2000, anyone with enough skill to get something from R&D to the Distribution stage could have the dopest song. But today, Someone without the ability to make music, can use a computer program that has the ability to correct input that is not technically musical. So pitch, tempo, musical time, are unnecessary skills. This should not be used for this reason. But, I know that it will get better. If this is the worst, then it's already getting better. Tiesto did not help. This is not my emotions. This factual. Just because it is not an affirming statement only makes it a statement. ***

This set was recorded live at Re:Generate, the name chosen by the Om Reunion Project to set the mood for their summer solstice gathering in 2011. I was scheduled to play on Sunday morning at the Moon Bass stage, a great little setup in a forest clearing on a beautiful piece of land in Southern Ontario. It felt like the right space and time to take a trip into the history of the psychedelic trance subculture so I mixed up a diverse assortment of old school Goa trance classics after sunrise. As always, this set was completely improvised; absolutely nothing was planned prior to stepping on stage to setup my equipment. This musical experience was co-created with a fantastic crowd of people who emerged from the woods to dance with enthusiasm to these old school gems.

Awesome set. The music before 2000 was so dope.

Excellent track selection. "...the electrons do it to the neutrons-." I love that sample.

  11. There are some similarities as far as I can judge from a video. Obviously not all parties are the same here but if you go to a bigger event (well, you can read on the announcement of the parties what they offer exactly) there is a big chance for a laser show, normaly there is more decoration than shown on the video but often there are screens like the one shown with visuals. The people might be different in the sense that the audience is more mixed than on the video. Depending on the party there might be stuff like the fire show but by far not at all parties. There parties here are (from my point of view) less "clean". Means there are more alternative people around, which is a big plus for me. But it's a matter of taste obviously.

But there is one big difference: some of the girls shown in the video looks like animation dancers. Here you won't hardly find one (I remember one party announcement that talked about dancers) at psy parties. It's common with house and other similar parties but not psy. And I'm damn glad about that. From my point of view half naked females dancing absolutely don't fit psy. Not because of the music but to me I fail to see what they are good for. I also don't think it would fit the scene (as it is here I mean). It has a kinda sexistic approach to me anyway. Besides that I'm glad psy parties here are not testosterone driven in a way that you can dance and just have fun without having a guy on your back any other minute (as it might happen if you go to a regular party). And with on my back I don't mean some nice talking but being importunate and dancing on you when you don't want it and clearly say it for example. But in the end it's a matter of taste too of course.

Maxfactor you need to stop that "I was joking" crap, now. It is indeed just trolling which is against the forum rules.

in the first place, I am not a troll ... second ... There's obviously a big problem with miscommunication on this site. It seems it would be better if I use the Spanish language when posting. Then I can use Google's translation before I give my final post.

Because Spanish is my second language, I could not use slang. Also, only 10% of all written messages can be received.

So, again I apologize. I assure you this is a language problem. No this is not a problem of a troll. Oh, my God, I'm so sorry for the inconvenience that I am to blame.

  12. Shouldn't any good psy track be able to give you a high? It does for me. I never understood why people say you need to do drugs to appreciate psy :S

Yes. I don't think you need drugs. It just increases your ability to see geometric patterns in the music. And, it's fun. I listened to the lone deranger on 2CB(like a synthetic LSD without the shitty side effects), with a friend. It was so mindblowing and the geometric patterns that formed from listening were so intricate. But this song still makes me high.

    I WAS JOKING, HAHA.

  14. I don't want to be rude but the stuff you wrote sounds similar to the views of some other people (in this forum or other places) or pretty similar to some other stuff you wrote about the scene. So I obviously failed to identify it as joke.

Or do you mean the first post you wrote after my comment? Actually that was written in a funny way. :) I just wonder if your comment about going to an underground party again is a joke too or if you really judge the scene without going out to see it? Care to enlighten me? :)

Okay, Is this how the scene is over there? Because, If it is like this here as it says, my dream came true. But, I think this is just a promoter that is touring. But, this is kinda how II wanted it.

  15. Well it's really nice to see that people who actually doesn't follow or doesn't know anything about topic subject are present here to give their opinions about mentioned. First of all I'm not offended or anything similar but if you gonna speak about money or something here, first of all, be nice and go to www.ektoplazm.com and check how much NeoGoa as netlabel published and released stuff for free...

You're speaking about evolutionary process and something here, let me tell you that from the very first day I updated people, followers and all other boys and girls who liked anything related with NeoGoa with our activites. For me logical thing was to inform people that I'm planning to improve our releases, to push even harder in next year and I don't see anything wrong there. Is bad thing to pay your artists some money for their efforts? Is bad thing to be able to pay proper mastering without asking yourself are you gonna have some money tommorrow for lunch? Is bad thing to invest some money for proper PR?

Next month, NeoGoa will release 2 EP's and after that 2 compilations until the end of this year, all that stuff will be available for free on Ektoplazm...there will be tracks from artists who regularly release stuff on well respected labels who publishes and releases CD's every month or two, but no one will speak about it. Easier way is to be a troll and post some random bullshit on someone's hard work. I'm such a fool for replying to you afterall.

    stupid Ned Stark is stupid.

    Shit, I lost it.

Sorry I accidentally closed this tab and I normally would have lost my reply. But somehow I salvaged this screen pic and I am too lazy to rewrite it. Anyway, you are very wise to reply. Especially, because of my Posting Tourette's Syndrome. LOL. I often don't know something and write a shitty post to see the reactions. I look forward to further communication with you. And BTW, very nice website and I have been to ektoplasm before, sorry I have transient amnesia.J/K but seriously. Plus, according to Basilisk, I am a grumpy old-timer. So, you see I got a lot going for me. LOL. Thanks again.

    Max Factor (95-98;10-?)

  16. You can count the hours you work, till the cows come home, and you still won't work over 100% (although as you don't define this percent in relation to anything

it seems just a purely made-up statistic, designed to promote what reality-tunnel you inhabit). Infact I doubt you actually sat down and worked out how much time you actually spend working compared to time available, I think you would find to would be well below 100%. But I suspect that wouldn't make your (made-up) point as well.

The fact you obviously have time to respond to me, shows that infact you do have the time to respond with a 30sec "I am busy, will converse later".

As I said before, people make time for what they consider important.

I consider jacking off important. But I don't make time for it. I don't make plans, I make minute to minute my divine plan. Working hard is a load of bollacks. Unless it is a work of passion. But, I don't see many of those jobs posted. Why? Because passion is not part of business. Production is number one. Almost every job will be automated soon. So, if you take such pride in your work, I hope you share that pride of a robot. Robots don't do work of passion. If you want to get paid to work, do something a robot can't do.

Using guilt-laced language like what they consider important, is so messed up, Everyone has different priorities, everyone is different. And, that makes us all the same. So, try self-love, it's the only love that helps everyone.

  17. Elysium, is right.

C***s who don't bother to even read their mail because they are "too busy" are just full of s**t and ego.

"Oh look at me, I am so important and busy maaaaaaaaan, I can't even open an email account and look at some

emails that take a few minutes to answer"...

Being a full-time father, making psychedelic videos, writing computer games, looking after and doing DIY on

a house, cooking and cleaning, and tending to a pregnant partner, and I still manage to read and answer my

emails, comments on youtube, write on forums.... etc etc.

Open your mind, and realise these f*****s don't give a damn about anything else other than their egos.

Good luck with trying to make any money out of this "bulls**t" scene, I am 99.5% certain you are going to lose

even more money than you did running a free-label. But I also hope that I am wrong.

Bit of a shame mind, I had only just discovered your lovely label. But anyway fancy a nice new free spanking video

for your Dimension Gate 2 release?

Is this an epitaph or a topic. I am so bummed out for no reason. So. NeoGoa -- no offense but never heard of it. Except as a new micro-style. Also, how much influence on people did one year bring? I thought that something bad happened, Are we supposed to feel sorry for a transitional/evolutionary process? Oh yeah I love the money thing. I totally agree with TranceVisuals, If you are doing this for money, you might as well go all the way with it and become the new Tostido  I mean Tiesto. Sell out, suck Satan's cock, But, if it is your passion, enjoy the perk of getting some cash.

Probably guys really did not see messages via facebook (it's not a first time that facebook is loosing private messages and stuff). However if we manage to move complete database on to another server than I can create thoose accounts for labels so you can add news, updates and stuff.

Facebook is the Antichrist. Good luck with your new direction,
