  1. I never not feel moved when I hear David Gilmour's guitar intro on Shine On You Crazy Diamond. You can immediately recognize his sound, he knows exactly which chord to strike, both musically and emotionally. I'm a huge fan. :) I think I wouldn't be able to pick just a few songs in order show his extreme awesomeness, but then again, it doesn't really matter, cause all of his solos are amazing. Sorry to come across as a silly fanboy, but I think most Floyd fans (and others) would agree that he's in a league of his own.

So, what are your guitar heroes, and what are your favorite parts? Maybe if I get more bored during the rest of the day, I'll post some videos of Jimi Hendrix as well.

  2. I just found a video of David Bowie singing Comfortably Numb, cause I was looking for proof that David Gilmour is actually God, but then realized that God must've split in two, to perform this duet. :)

Back in the Off Topic daze, I remember a topic that Ov3rdos3 started about David Gilmour's Godhood. Maybe I'll start a new Guitar Hero topic... and throw some Jimi in there too.

  3. I really dug it. Captivating visuals, really beautiful CGI landscaping. The storyline was really quite predictable and cheesy, but it didn't bother me that much, as everything else held my attention all the time.

Those plants, flowers and animals were goddamn awesome. :)

  4. Me, when I move from one place to another, I usually add a mix of old classics that I can go back to when I need to hear some comforting stuff, with music that I still need to discover (forcing me to check these albums out) and some stuff that I do know, but feel like I need to explore more.

Also, there has to be a big enough mix of styles. Something of everything. Here's what's my 2 Gb eyePod holds today. What's on yours? And why? :)

Pole - 2 [minimal, atmospheric, abstract and clicky dub]

Waldeck - Ballroom Stories [jazzy, loungey stuff]

dj Mint - Messy Lec [fat ass electro]

Cannibal Ox - The Cold Vein [underground hiphop

Pink Floyd - The Delicate Sound of Thunder [PF collection, didn't know which album choose, heard each single one a million times]

Marzipan & Mustard - Fuze [recommended idm-ish stuff that I needed to check out]

Radiohead - Hail to the Thief [one of Radiohead's albums I don't know so well yet]

The Congos - Heart of the Congos [one of many Lee Perry produced reggae classics]

Jon Hopkins - Insides [een van de mooiste idm releases van 2009]

Near the Parenthesis - L'Eixample [nice clicks, blips, beeps and melodies]

Mos Def & Talib Kweli - Blackstar [one of my alltime favorite hiphop records]

VA - Lo Editions Presents Ninja Tune [collection of ninja tunes, didn't know which artist album to put on my eyePod]

Pink Floyd - Obscured by Clouds [Pink Floyd created this album for a movie]

Organized Konfusion - Organized Konfusion [OLDskool! hippedy hop]

Tangerine Dream - Phaedra [synth ambient classic of prog/synth rock groep from 1974]

Radioactive Man - Radioactive Man [electro, idm, house, whatever... Seraph recommended this artist to me, first album I checked out I loved, this one I have yet to rate]

Plastikman - Sheet One [another classic, this time I'd call it minimal, atmospheric, trippy techno. Doesn't have all that much in common with what they call 'minimal' these days]

The Flaming Lips - The Soft Bulletin [group that I don't love all the way yet, although they have made some really beautiful songs]

The Polyphonic Spree - Together We're Heavy [kind of hippy singalong band with I don't know how many members in dresses]

Mikey Dread - World War III [Jamaicaanse reggae-dj, good old dubby shit]

  5. I discovered a whole new style of music. A friend of mine compiled a cd for me, full of this kind of music. Don't know what it's called either: it's some housey, electroy acidish electronic music. Odd description, I know?

Right now, listening to Kalson - Invaded.

Other example (if you can dig the vocoded part):

And if the keywords house, electro and vocoder turned you off, realize that I'm not a cheese-lover (although I am Dutch... ;) )
