Shameful Silence is easily one of the best albums I've heard in 2007, and the way this album has grown on me these last few days, I suspect it'll stay that way for a long time. Wombatmusic aka Elysium has now released a rock solid 12-track album through Chill Tribe Records. The album varies over a number of genres, with excellent continuity throughout its playtime. What struck me the most interesting about Shameful Silence, is the way some of the tracks are built up in a rather nontraditional way towards their end/climax.. We're all familiar with layer after layer being pumped over each other, some more blatant than others, but these tracks introduce buildups much more seamlessly and interesting. This is evident in the tracks "World Travelling Eclipse Chasers", "Artificial Earth Satellite", and "Shameful Silence I". This is also undoubtedly one of the key aspects of why I can recommend this album to any fan of chill out, ambient and electronic music. The struggle for an original sound is getting progressively harder within the genre of chilled out electronic music these days, but I feel this album still has something different to offer.

There are some real gems in here, impressive tracks to say the least. I will argue that Shameful Silence is more experimental than most of Elysium's previous work, and I appreciate it for its originality and creativity. It's filled with electronic soundscapes really blending in and out of each other, changing, and making you really stop and listen. Taking every advantage of the possibilities within two-channel stereo sound, the effects and holography this album is riddled with is truly a musical journey in itself. Well chosen vocal samples blending into the beats and melodies makes this an album standing very much on its own feet. I would describe almost none of the tracks as pure chill, there is certainly some fire under the kettle as an overall feel. There are even some mid-track tempo-changes! All inn all you find yourself getting increasingly interested in this album throughout its progress.

Shameful Silence is the first album released from Chill Tribe Records, where the quality of production, engineering and mastering is still consistent in every way. After a few listens you realize this is musically very much alike the tracks in the three previous compilations, all the more reason to check this album out.. Two thumbs up! :)

  2. Finally! Chill Tribe Records' 3rd release is out - named "Ear Pleasure". Let's get things straight, first of all; what is an ear? It's a receptive organ in the human body. Allright, now what is "pleasure"?

Well, in this context it would be something like "the pleasing effects of excellent music". So, where do we turn in the search of this excellence of dilligently compiled music? Well, Chill Tribe Records has proven to be a more than reliable source for just this, and all the more reason to be excited for their most recent compilation. When I first saw the album cover, I had an inkling as to what I would experience for the next hour or so, as previous musical experiences with some of these artists have proven memorable. See, whenever I learn there is a new album released from Chill Tribe, there is

always few surprises and cliffhangers when it comes to artist lineup. Whatever reputation and fame might follow these names becomes irrelevant. The pleasuring of the ear this time around comes from the mixture of all these different songs into a general feel - a journey - a state of mind, if you get properly carried away. I'm happy to say this album is an expression of the rising trend of going away from the popular, yet more or less pure synthloops with conga drums in the background in straight as an arrow 4/4 rythms featuring "aah aah" vocals for nine minutes with a more or less random name slapped on it, calling it "psychilled dub" or some other extravagant made-up word. Ear Pleasure clearly features artists who've integrated other instruments and effects together with varied inspirations, to create impressively original sounding tracks, all in the name of downtempo and dub. This is one of the things that strike me the most after having listened through the album a few times. Ear Pleasure is more laid back and "nonchalant" than the previous two albums. It's the absolute perfect album to run through on an early saturady morning just having woke up and realizing the gravity of the weekend.. Zen Lemonade - Island of Forgotten Dreams hit the spot beautifully. And, if you're a bit of a tech geek like me, you'll find the technical properties to be fully intact when it comes to quality of recording, resolution, field of sound and effects, you name it. If you have floorstanding loudspeakers, you'll enjoy this album to its fullest.

Be sure to check this album out if you're into dub - Chill Tribe style!

  3. Okay, following traveller's suggestion I dropped the compilations (but kept Phutureprimitive, despite you wanting me to piss Cinos off!! :P )

Tip The Story (2CD) - that has a Nice tracklist.

    Added Dub trees.

Entheogenic - Dialogue Of The Speakers - Is it nice? Haven't heard any of it yet. *Samples*

Nice. Added that one, and total is 189.40 US$. B)

  6. As the richeous man I am, "certantly" is the answer. I've heard it all, but now that it's payday, I'm going wild, at Psyshop.com, since I've only got great feedback to them. The thing is however, Its expensive. Not that each album is expensive, its just that once I start klicking, it dosen't stop. So, help me out; what has to go? What has to be added? These are all albums I've always felt i have to buy. Help.
