  1. I finally succeeded in making the mandelbox fractal! I did using the program Mandelbulb3D. Still having problems with the Ultra Fractal version.

The colouring and lighting are quite different from UF. This gives the images a bit of another character to them.

Here a render from the entire box (scale-2)

I'm off to explore this amazing infinite geometrical object. I'll be back with more!

  2. It looks like you are just exporting your images rather then rendering them with the renderer in UF.

This is why the detail of those small pieces looks so bad. If you render it, the quality will be way better. And you can do huge resolutions.

Keep on trying. Making fractals needs a lot of practice and patience. But if you perservere you will become a true master.

Not that I'm a pro, not by a long shot :D

check out some of my fractals if you want. http://www.psynews.org/forums/index.php?/topic/59252-persistent-aura-fractal-art/

EDIT: Oh I'm sorry it seems you are using ChaosPro. Never used the program so I don't know if it's possible to make better renders with that. The outlook of the program does resemble ultra fractal a lot in those tiny pictures.

  3. Hi all!

I would just like to share some of my fractal art with you people. So from now on I will be posting some new fractal here regularly.

I've been working with a lot of different programs like Ultra Fractal, Apophysis, Terragen, Mandelbulber,... so you will also see different types of fractals ranging from IFS to 3D mandelbulbs and even Lindenmayer systems.

    Check out my deviantart gallery!

Here's an image of a Grand Julian in perspective made with Apophysis 7x

  4. No worries Ewoud , take your time on this specially because it's a large file we're talking here. I've browsed a bit and i will keep browsing over your deviantart with time , you have some mindblowing fractals such as Treasure 3d , no words to describe how beautiful it is and the Lost City which im having on my desktop now because it's not very bright and it won't hurt my eyes , plus , it's not a bit confusing because i have some files over my desktop :)

the treasure3d is not mine unfortunately. It's made by Zueuk, a great fractal artist on deviantart, you should check more of his gallery. Very good stuff. Much better than mine to be honest :P

The image is uploading but going slow but it will probably be ready before I go to bed.

A little more off topic: I'm working on something new as well. Mandelbox fractals. But my formula to create them still has a glitch so I don't have any examples yet.

But here are some examples (not by me) of what they look like

  5. Thanks Ewoud , we never know when we might need you!

might not be able to upload it tonight. I only have bursts of about 10-30seconds of internet connection and then it's down for 1-5 minutes every time. Been having this for two days now. Hope it'll get better tommorrow

But I'll keep on trying until I go to bed in an hour or two.

  6. Love your stuff . Your music is Positive , Groovy , Psychedelic , Engaging , Fun , Creative , i could stay here throwing a lot of words to describe what you do , but music is like that generates something inside you that sometimes you can't even explain what you feel. :)

Keep up with your music and btw , i know you do Fractals too , if this one was one you made you have my sincere congrats , its AMAZING and love the Hi-Res detail of it.

    Thanks for sharing this Ewoud.

Yes I made that fractal ;) Good to know you like it. I don't think I have the full res version uploaded somewhere but I'll upload it to my deviantart gallery as soon as my internet connection lets me :)

  7. The melodies in Machine Elve are absolutely wonderful! :D It's also one of the only Goa/Nitzho tracks my non-goa-friends like.

I'm really looking forward to hear you playing live at my party in August!

Me neither :D It's gonna be a nice party I'm sure. I will be playing all my most wicked nitzhogoa tunes. Machine elve will definetely be in there and the driftwood - freeloader remix. Be prepared :P

  8. Actually the Axel F theme is from Beverly Hills Cop with Eddie Murphy :P

About all the rest is something i don't even bother , because as you said it's tastes and i would say in my own country , Portugal , people get so fucked up (sorry the expression) that they get to a point that they dont even care what's being played , i guess it's not just in my country but most of the Psy scene in general , so it's like i said , play anything with a sharp kick and a hard bassline , what comes on top doesn't matter , put knifes , cartoons , bubbles , cream , shit and they won't mind. Just don't play good music because they will find it soft and lame.

That sort of madness is certainly not for me. So shoot out some NitzhoNOT! :D

whoops indeed I meant Beverly Hills Cop not Police Acadamy LOL :P

  9. That's as good as I got it to sound after trying to fix it. It was even worse in the beginning

I won't give up yet though. I just had another idea which might work. The preset used was a downloaded one. I didn't change much about it so if I download it again it might sound like the old one again. I did save the preset as used in the original version before it got bad but even when I load that one it sounds like the bad one so I'm not sure it'll work.

  10. Thanks for the comments arronax

The broken melody was made with a weird arpeggiated synth from albino 3. For some reason when I reopened the project one day to make some adjustments the melody suddenly sounded totally different. All the subtle accents on the notes which were just right now seem to be totally random and it doesn't sound nearly as good.

I've tried anything I can think of to fix it (also reinstalling the vst) but nothing seems to work it always sounds the same.

I could just change the synth for another but that's just as bad as using the broken one. It was the special sound of that made it sound so good.

I shall upload the version with the wrong sounding synth soon so you can hear what I mean. I just feel like the whole track loses it's magic because of it.

    I'll post it soon

  11. Although I would want to rip my ears of when hearing such a remix;

I still think every artist has the freedom to do what ever the hell they want. Even if you don't like it. Except for stealing tunes offcourse (remixing is NOT stealing imo as long as you give credit to the original composer)

If you don't like it, don't listen to it. If no one listens to it, it won't be made. If people still listen to it even if it's crap, it just means they're stupid.

I don't get the people who try to protect goa/psy with their lives from all bad influences and impurities. Like nobody has the right to listen to good music but themselves. There are still a lot of great artist out there not doing it for the money. Since those are usually the best ones why bother crap is being made. I still have what I need and do not support the crap in any way.

Someone said they were worried to start hearing country music in psytrance. I for one would love that as long as it is done decently (which would be very hard). Experimentation and creativity are the keys for musical development so why the hell not?

Genres are just small confined boxes put there by others to define an artists style. They are in no way fixed and do not have to be followed like rules so we won't corrupt the 'genre'. I don't care about the genre of the music I make. I just make what I like, whatever it is.

I also think a lot of bad remixes can be blamed on some (bad)artist having a bad sense of humour. Because they think people will find it funny. This just shows the artist is not very bright and probably not very good in the first place.

I like to remix tracks myself as well. Even popular ones as long as they are good tracks in the first place (what's the point in remixing something when nobody will recognize the track) I like remixing old popular 90s dance/trance tracks because that was the music I grew up with and what I liked back then. It's the music that shaped my musical knowledge and feelings as they are today so why not pay tribute to it with a remix. Axel F by Harold Faltemayer (police academy theme) as an example was one of my favourite tracks when I was 6 years old. I made a psy remix of that. That track means so incredibly much to me but I can see some people would find a psy remix of that track incredibly lame.

My point is you don't even know why artists make bad remixes in the first place. Instead of implying all of them do it just to make money.

Oh yeah, whenever a tune like that get's dropped during a set I know it's bad. Just subtly show the DJ you are displeased. I usually just entirely stop dancing and give them a displeased look until they put on something good again. (which may be never)

Anyways we're just discussing tastes here

    Life goes on!

    greets!
