  1. Must have been the "Abstract Phaze" compilation (Matsuri rec) and the "Dance, trance & magic plants" on Transient. If I remember correctly those were the first CDs I bought, too. Sometimes I'd really like to reset my mind and discover this whole world of magic and mystery again and again. Oh what a time it was... :)

  2. Maybe some of those will fit your taste, they're mostly not as dark though.

  3. I sure as hell forgot one or the other great release but my list could look something like this:

    Haldolium - H2

    Haldolium - Deagua

    Haldolium - Repainted

    Solar Fields - Random Friday

    Zerotonine - Cygnus Loops

    Loopstep - Coded patterns

    Beat Bizarre - Lewd

    Son Kite - Colours

    Haldolium - GLW / DRK

    Frogacult - Sky rocketeers

There's no use denying it... yes, I admit, I'm a Haldolium whore :-)

  4. Exactly the same happened to my copy, it turned all hazy and didn't work eventually. Luckily I could rip the majority of the tracks to my hd but not all. Seems like there was an issue with the pressing or something liek that. The horror for every collector...

  5. Same happened here to my copy of "Spectral - Diffuse". It became all blurry and could not be read anymore although it was stored in its digipack the whole time.

Nothing ever beats my copy of "Aerodance - Some more sun" though, it split in two halves all by itself.

    Now back on topic :P

  6. Speaking of dark progressive, I've found this old mix. Please let me know if you know some recent and fresh albums or releases having a similar sound ;)

there're two Haldolium tracks in the mix, one is Diabolika, I can't recall the name of the other one atm. Be sure to check their albums "Deagua" and "H2", both top notch dark prog/psy. I never grew tired of Haldolium, two of my all time favourite albums, especially Deagua. the other stuff was more tribal... there was a lot of this stuff around 2000. Maybe check the first two "Klangstrahler Projekt" albums, just to toss in a name.

edit: sorry, I just noticed you were searching for recent releases like this... well, good luck then :P

  7. I would!

Minimal psy should die and never-ever live again. :P

maybe the term minimal wasn't picked wisely, basically I was just thinking of a more stripped down, less agressive and earpiercing sound, music that actually IS tranceinducing and doesn't make you run for the next aspirin. but that's another discussion

  8. maybe we can welcome the next minimal era soon. once the people were fed up with multilayered oldschool sound and there came the minimal and techy psy sound, now they're growing tired of all this noisy fullon... it all goes round in circles. I wouldn't mind personally... :)

  9. you can start here

the thread is from 2006 but there hasn't been too much new psytech anyway :(

    check labels like Boshke Beats

D:Drum (defunct since a long time now)

    Horns & Hoofs

    Creamcrop

ZMA early stuff... just to name a few
