Review:

An album from the act that brought in Astral Projection in Melbourne in 2001.

Very basic production skills here. Live act is much better. The secodn trak on

cd 2 is basically just samples with bss beats behind them. Very heavy bass

kicks, lots of old school warped sounds. Very common australian Psy cd with

just plain weird sh!t coing on. It is more based on the idea that Psy and Goa

trance is fun but takes this to far as it seems like just a boy playing with

his new toys. If you want to hear something Australian then this is ok but

Space Tribe and Fractal Glider are much better produced and more skilled at

writing tracks. Sugar should just stick to live gigs. 4/10 maximum!!

From Mike in Melbourne, Australia.

i don't think sugar is very talented, and definately hasn't progressed much

musically from his days in the house of pagan christians.. some of the tracks

on this cd are almost identical to his old works. sugar uses a pretty basic

formula, from which he doesn't vary much at all. i wouldn't recommend this

cd.. but favourite track: tuff cookie

I've met Felix quite a few times, he's a very cool guy, but his music isn't as

cool. the bassline is the same crappy tinny sound on EVERY track - which

works an absolute treat in the bush on real loud speakers, but for any other

listening format Sugar doesn't match up to other Aussie acts.

Guest some random psytrance doofer.

not particularly interesting. He looks like such an egomaniac on stage, as

well. I think the tracks on the last green ant cd of his (Third Encounter) are

better than any on these, and the song he wrote which samples 2010 is good...

but the only song on this that is decent is Disco Cowboy, and only because of

its quirkiness.. and that track in itself isn't a dance floor song at all....

2/10. Psy-Harmonics are *way* ahead of green ant, imo.. PEACE!

Sugar is just a basically overrated dj and very overrated producer who plays

the same basic set everytime he's up on the stage. Nothings changed nothings

different for the last 2 years I've known sugar. I went to this cd's launch

party and admittedly I was new to psy, the party atmosphere was good (hardly

any acid mind u) but I cant say anything about sugars set was memorable ..

same thing with any of his sets at earthcore , rainbow serpant or any other

place same O same 0. I think because at the time there were so few (big name)

psy producers in melbourne Sugar came up a decided he could take the mantle

and its stuck into alot of peoples heads that sugar has some good stuff .. but

even those people are jaded by the fact that u can only play 'good' stuff so

many times. look at fractal glider, benza, mr peculiar and space tribe for

some real aussie talent. judging from fractals awesome cd launch at the latest

earthcore aussie psy is definately improving. For evolving psy go to

psy-harmonics (andrew till u rule!). And I agree with the guy above me, Sugar

does act like ego orientated wanker on the stage. just go mp3.com and look at

the one free song he's put on the site and the huge picture of himself next to

it.

Well, err. I don't know. It's not that bad..

Some of it is average, but there a few pretty good tracks.

There's a certain sound to some, like disc-1, track-1 that I love, this real

creaky sort of riff, which really hits when the bass kicks in.

The production isn't the best which is surprising. The green-ant compilations

have always had good production. They sound excellent on my stereo's anyway,

but the same tracks here have lost something, which might account partly for

why it's disliked.
