There are no wonderful tracks on Pulse 8! The sounds are bad!! I really prefer Pulse 2, 3, 5 and 6!! So I give it only 2/10! Bom Shankar!!!! Guest [Anonymous]
I´m not disappointed with this compilation but I can understand that people who are used to the old goa still have a little bit problem to accept the new progressive music and this compilation is full of progressive tracks. If you like pumping and progressive music you really should listen to this. (7/10)
Guest Psylent Buddhi
I agree, it's no revelation! but there are some nice tracks scattered on these 2 cd's. On cd1 it's Koxbox's funky and very psychedelic "Six Cells". And later Tarsis brings us an extremely dark, almost orchestral piece of psytrance. Epic is what it is! On the cd2 Atmos takes on a very hypnotic journey, but the track still doesn't reach the hights of his eminent "Klein Aber Doktor". Human Blue delivers the most beautiful track on this compilation. A very nice journey. But besides these tracks, it's just boring minimalistic psytrance! The other Pulse compilations are much better! Guest Acidhive
Pulse eh? Well known to me, as I own almost all parts except 2 and 7. (Because I could never get a hold of them) Anyway, my review. I'll take it from track to track. CD1 starts with an incredible dark song from Intact Instinct, filled with lots of bass. Excellent start, I must say. Voodoo People kicks in, and Paul Jackson (Genetic) shows he's still pretty good. This song actually is a bit repetive, but you never notice it, because it fits together so well. Next up is Son Kite with a wonderful other version of Knob Adjustment, this one is longer than the original and also more in style of their Minilogue album. Great, Son Kite know how to perform minimalism without getting boring. Up next the funky Six Cells, with those incredible drums in it. Thumbs up for Koxbox once again. Next up is The Delta, and somebody commented me because I said this was goa. Allright, it sounds more like Psychedelic Techno, but it still is pretty good, especially if you like it dark. Spirallia! nz is next. Hard, this one and it shows you a thing or two. XV Kilist follows with one of his quirky tracks, full of bass and weird blippy noises, just like his other tracks. Next up is a somewhat dissapointing track by Etnica, it's not bad, it's just that their old style was much, much better. Tarsis rounds CD1 off with one of the most inpirational songs to date. Orchestral sounds, this is an epic track. CD2 starts groovy, with Earth (DJ Sangeet And Boris Blenn) Next on the list is another Psychedelic techno track by Jupiter 8000. Kicks ass, if you ask me, although I think the Jupiter 8000 song itself is better. Up next Luna, by SUN Project. They seem to be heading off the guitar path nowadays. Nevertheless, groovy as usual and great for parties. Noma sounds just like Hux-Flux does. As I like Hux-Flux I also like this. Atmos follows with one of his faster, harder tracks to date. As usual, Atmos stands out from the crowd here. Excellent. P Rex follows that with a dark song, ! which sounds a bit like Noma does. Tristan produces one of his usual style here, although with a little less madness. Human Blue takes you on a journey with his finely tuned sounds, so the title is right. Element rounds Pulse 8 off with a groovy song. Overall, a pretty good compilation. Only track I'm not really fond of is the Etnica track, and even that one isn't bad. (Although that awful old school house sample shouldn't be in here...) 8/8 from me, although I do want to warn those that don't like Progressive Goa. This CD is full with it. So, my advice is to look elsewhere for melodic stuff, cause you won't find that here. Only pounding, dark tracks! And I like that! :-)
Guest robgoatrance[at]libero[dot]it
Pulse 8 isn't a good cd! Only 2 track are interesting: cd2 trax 4,5! Atmos' track is very hard and loud. Fantastic drum! Not buy this cd! Rating 4/
Guest titiknar[at]caramail[dot]com
don't like this style. Since the 7, pulse is a bad compilation. The Sixth was wonderful
Guest reflekshun[at]mail[dot]com
When i first listened to this comp, at first I was VERY dissapointed.. very very dissapointed.. dunno if it was the system i was playing it in or what, but anyways after only a couple more listens, it's very decent.. I definitely wouldn't agree with titiknar that pulse is a bad compilation after pulse 6.. it's just different. Once you get used to it, and get into it's groove - wow it's actually pretty damn good. Not mindblowing I admit, but by NO MEANS bad.
seraph
Pretty good compilation...Nothing extraordinary here except SIX CELLS, THE DOMINATOR, SO NICE YOU NAME IT TWICE...Those are stunning songs...Good songs are : ORCHESTRAL OFFENDER, KNOB ADJUSTMENT, SATURN, NOTHING WAS WORKING, DREAMTIME, TRAVELLING...others are rather or minimal, or too progressive and repetitive at the times...CD 1 : 7/10 and CD 2 : 7.5/10...
