Scherer
V/A - Beat Port One Artist: Various Title: Beat Port One Label: Jun Jam Date: 2001 Track listing: 01. 4'40" Der Eins Punkt : Juten Morjen Intro 02. 8'48" Phonatic : Smooth groove 03. 8'28" Twelve Monkies : Sleppless (dry version) 04. 7'10" Vaishiyas : Gytaloey 05. 7'56" Metapher : Knolle 06. 8'01" Lo Max : Loewenzahn 07. 8'48" Vaishiyas : Beatborg 08. 7'47" Lo Max : Human Beings 09. 9'12" Spectres : Fluid Energy 10. 8'26" Bass Massaker : F.R.E.I. Review: The latest compilation by jum jam rec. comes with a good choice of psychdelic tracks with great variation. both "smooth groove" and "sleepless" hold finest morning trance like paul van dyk and feuerhake and provide for positive mood. "loewenzahn" by lomax is the technoid connection to the night-compatible part of the compilation. characteristic is the very deep beat in combination with fresh drum-sounds and an interesting erection of tension. "gytaloey" begins minimalistic and beat oriented but with more and more incoming melodic and psychedelic guitar patterns the track develops to a real smasher on the dancefloor. the following "beatborg" goes straight forward holding a rocking bassline and creaking synthsounds. "human beings" comes with a very interesting arrangement and weird atmosphere and was made for brain stimulation. both "fluid energy" and "f.r.e.i." hold distorted psycho strings and go straight on with a non-stopable beat. conclusion: "beat port one" comes with exclusively psychedelic-compatible tracks and covers the complete spectrum from morning-to night-sound. recommendable. favorites: "smooth groove" and "human beings"

Setsuko
there are some nice tunes on this release ... but some tracks are a bit lame imo , i mean there are to many 'blips and blops' in some tracks that don't belong there ... just some filler sounds to 'finish' the track ... but ofcouse there are very good tracks present ? ... i realy like the first track but to bad it is such a short track , it's one of those jumpy groovy tracks i like. so highlights are 1,2 and 7 ... i give this one 7/10 , i realy would like to give it some more points because the effort by some artists is very well done ...
