  1. I am strongly advocating the FLAC file format which in my opinion is best file format for lossless audio.

The most common complaint that I get is that DJ:s don’t want to migrate to FLAC format because Pioneer CDJs do not support FLAC and they are unable to play their gigs.

There is a way to do file format conversions so fast that is a smooth part in DJ workflow. I am using Foobar2000 for doing this.

  2. Not directly related to production but many producers have to play their music with older DJ-equipment and might benefit from this video.

This exercise will strengthen the connection between your brain and the pitch slider. It will train your ability to correct a tune that wondering away from beat sync, and train your motoric memory of different positions of pitch slider and effects of pitch slider pulling and pushing manoeuvres.

Hopefully after training this exercise you will be able to beat match faster than before.

  3. Man With No Name - Teleport (Dreaml4nd remix, draft5) now online.

Changes to draft4 are small. Draft4 had mixing/mastering issues (harsh high-end, too much limiting) which are fixed. Still work in progress, I wonder if I'll ever finish this =)

  4. How to do audio mastering with Native Instruments Traktor Pro and a DAW (Ableton Live in this case).

Traktor Pro can be used as another tool in your home mastering process to compare your track to reference tracks and bring your mastering chain into a DJ mixing context.

This is not a replacement for a professional mastering process. It is an addition to workflow for doing a simple home mastering with tools that most beginner and intermediate musicians understand and can use.

  5. Next and largest Dreaml4nd tutorial until now: Multiple Perspective Mixing and Magnifying glasses (Ableton Live).

I believe that in order to achieve good mix you have to do it from multiple perspectives. I am using Ozora festival main dancefloor as an example to illustrate why it is important.

How to mix from multiple perspectives and utilize magnifying glasses in mixing. Ableton Live is used as a DAW but you can use these concepts also in another DAW.

In my opinion it is very important to mix and monitor your tune from mono, left and right perspectives and I am using Ozora Festival main dancefloor as an example why it is important.

In multiple perspective mixing you are constantly rotating perspectives where you are mixing from. You can also use ordinary DAW tools as magnifying glasses to concentrate on different aspects of your tune. Magnifying glasses that I am using are: 1. SMLR Rotation, 2. Output Rotation 3. Lowpass Filter, 4. Highpass Filter, 5. Acoustic Correction Rotation, 6. Reverb, 7. Visual Analyzers.

    **********************************************

A new style of music has been born. Welcome to Dreamland. It is a world of strong emotions and states of mind inspired heavily by Japanese game worlds, Goa trance and psytrance. Beware though, if you enter the Dreamland, there is no going back. The melodies and sound patterns might still be playing in your head even after turning off the speakers!

In addition to unforgettable synth lead melodies and hypnotic repeating patterns, huge variety of classic instruments sounds like pianos, cellos, harps, electric guitars, string orchestras, female singing, throat singing, flutes, djembe drums, retro video game sounds, classic psy farts and even tb-303 are all there. Even oceanic waves, singing birds, grasshoppers, 19th century steam trains and strange fx tricks like moving stereo fields and unusual melodic transitions are part of Dreamland. Elements from multiple psytrance subgenres and other electronic music are combined into a masterpiece unlike anything that you have heard before.

It took for a good reason over 10 years of mind work to create this album. Most of the tunes went through many iterations of creation, feedback and dance floor testing and it lasted years for them to develop into their final form. The tunes contain a lot of small details and every new listening is a different experience as you start to become aware of more details.

Dreamland is a hyper dimensional flying trip. You learn to fly through different worlds, beaches, islands, oceans, dark forests, deserts and even ancient fortresses. As the creator of Dreamland has background in Scandinavia, Middle East and Japan, all these three music cultures have given influence. We are proud to present the debut album of Golan (aka DJ Aegonox). Dreamland is a classic that every serious electronic music collector needs to have in his shelf!
