  3. CRMB - Wonders

    Artist: CRMB

    Title: Wonders

    Label: 3D Vision

    Date: 2000

    Track listing:

    01. Wonders

    02. We're Having A Party

    Review:

Recorded in the GMS studios we here have two of the few tracks GMS has made

with Christophe Drouillet (Transwave, Absolum) and DJ Mael (Nomad). First

track, Wonders (7,5/10), is what you can expect from these guys, fast, lots of

effect, you know the drill, french full on style :)Seems like Christophe and

Mael has done a good job here trying to control the two GMS madmen, those

wellknown GMS overdrived effects hasn't been allowed to ruin the track as it

sometimes happen with GMS. You can still hear who's pushing the keys though

and high frequencies are still used, but they ain't driven to the extreme.

Good track, a climax in the end would have made it very good. Second track, We

Are Having A Party (4/10), is not as good as the first one. It's not so fast

and pumping as the first one, it lacks in structure and it's simply not crazy

enough. It seems CRMB is holding back and isn't allowing themself to give the

track the craziness and tempo this style of psytrance needs to make it good.

But buy this EP for the first track, that one should do good at parties.

  4. OMG, this is fantastic! It's so various, so pure! We really have some gems

here. First of is ATOI - Mystery School with Devotion (intro), very

psychedelic and dark, really work as an intro. Then we have a fantastic track

from Jaïa (not surprised :-) called "I'ivresse des profondeurs", and this is

really an incredible track, really makes me fly over the dark beach with the

small waves comming in, so chilled, so beutiful! Number 3 is Amber Rain from

Asura which also is a really good track, not as good as Jaïa though, but still

it maintain a very high quality. 4 Toires - Lâalam is not that chilled as the

first tracks, and I think it's one of the weaker tracks here, mostly because

of that quite heavy baseline, it's still pretty good though. Another Asura

track comes and what a track!! So psychedelic, it creates so many pictures,

very beutiful. It just keeps getting better and better, and eventually it

reaches that sample saying "yes, we are sure" and the climax kicks in. And

even though we actually have a climax and it "kicks in", this is still 100%

ambient and the track keeps it's chilled feeling, don't miss this one! Next is

a weird track from Hol Baumann (who?), which is probably the weakest one here,

actually I often skip it as I don't think it fits in here, if you've heard

that ignoring "melody" you know what I mean. If you can tolorate that melody

it's still a ok track. Now the disc begins to be more chilled, as we have

Solar Fields - Outlined Surfaces lined up now, really nice track with a

beutiful piano as the best stuff. In the middle of these unknown artist we now

have Chi-A.D. with a limited version of "Slide", pretty weird stuff and pretty

average compared to some of the other tracks here. 9 Distortion Orchestra -

Fire Maiden is nice but doesn't really go anywhere, pretty beutiful though. 10

Aes Dana - Skyclad (high frequencies version) is a very good track, but

lookout as these very high frequencies hurts your ear! Mystical Sun is next

with In the sky, pretty good but really just some sort of intro to the next

track: Craig Padilla (who?) - Beyond Beta (original mix)!! Extremely beutiful,

chilled and propably the highlight on this disc! Don't miss this one neither!

True frequencies participates here with a track called New Indigenous

Religion, this one contains alot of talking by Timothy Leary, actually it's

not a sample, it's some sort of vocal! For me it's "the message" of this

compilation, it would be better if I could figure out what exactly it means

though. This cd ends with an extract of the same track that started it, again

very psychedelic and some words ("flying bat"?) to finish it off. All in all

this is fantastic and a must own for ambient likers. I give it 9,5/10. Oh

yeah, did i forget to say this is flawless mixed and compiled by Vincent

Villuis (member of Asura!) and Sunbeam! Get this while you can!

    Review:

Sooo, here we go. I must admit I havn't actually heard the other albums from

these guys, so I can't really compare them. I will do this in a little awkward

way, I will just put the cd on and then write stuff whenever i feel there is

something to write. Btw, this is only my second listen to the cd.

Track 1: Right on, no real intro here, just starts, just great.

Track 2: Fresh sort of very happy start, after that it goes more into

something you could call psy, but still some weird stuff going on here :) This

simple beat start and it seems like it just continues, and continues... but

now, heeyy, goes back to a little bit more psy and becomes a little darker. I

bet it continues like that until the end......yeah, it does.

Track 3: Begins with disorted strings or something, "swoopy" kick comes in.

....Maaaannn, great groove, this can actually be called psy. Slowly building

up...sort of dreamy sounds...back to the groove. Great track so far!!!

Building up again...new stuff added...Breaks. Back to the original groove!

Some sort of sounds from a cat....fades...

Track 4: Classic start, high freqs, gets harder. What can i say...groove,

classic building up. Breaks, at least for a few seconds or so. Breaks. Changes

a little. Some sounds removed, sounds better, more concentrated! Breaks...hmmm

is this the same track? sounds totally different now. No real climax here.

Track 5: Great start, totally changes, don't think I like this. Well, ok,

sounds better know with bass on. Naaa, still doesn't work, those sounds are

ignoring...and adding sounds from a $10 keyboard doesn't make it better you

know...Breaks. Cheap keyboard removed, still that ignoring stuff. A owl. A

owl. Plenty of psy-sounds right here, not that that's necesarily a good

    thing...I don't like it.

Track 6: Hard bass. Simple rhytm, some very noticeable sounds. Good stuff now

that it makes a actual rhytm. Gets better, where did that hard bass go? good

rhytm, different from the previous tracks. Provoking sounds again.

Track 7: Hmm, judging it could be a really melodic israelian track. Goes more

minimalistic, bass power! Good track so far. Some sort of misplaced sounds

appear, can't be described. Again, no climax, fades...

Track 8: Weirdo start, some sort of vocal, hmmm, what the heck, is it over??

Track 9: GREAT GROOVE!!!! YEAH!!! /action grooves like a madman. Vocal again,

hmmm, track 8 must have been some sort of intro. Background female vocal.

Breaks. The groove is in the background now. Much more average now. Gets

better. Vocal repeated over and over. The groove again! Disappears.

    /action must sleep.

    *18 hours later*

    Here again.

Track 10: Funky start, good stuff. FunkyFunky, not a real groove. Good stuff.

Not much bass here, not much going on. Ok stuff.

Track 11: Boring I would say. ....... comeon, get it going.....better now.

Melody from the 80's appear, maybe from that cheap keyboard. Still ain't

    really good.

Track 12: Ok start. Cheap keyboard again, this time better. No sort of bass.

Weirdo sounds. Ok melody. Breaks. Suddenly a bass appears. Fades.

Well, ok album with some real highlights. This is happy minimalistic, not that

big bastard hard bass we always hear, happy stuff. This can't be called goa,

maybe it can be called psy. 6.5/10

  6. Really good compil, as you would expect if the title is Destination Goa - Best

Of. In my opinion cd 1 rocks much more then cd 2, not that cd 2 is bad it just

doesnt have the samme quality as for instance, the first 4 tracks on cd 1. It

still has Eye Am The I and Gnocchi remix though, which both are really great.

The Mahadeva featuring here is some kind of remix, which is a real shame,

cause the original would have made cd 2 almost as good as cd 1. Anyway, just

great stuff, 8/10. Btw, why does you guys like Lunar Civilization that much??

  7. My opinion...I think it's very cool that AP have mixed their best tracks into

two long party cds, that just keeps going and going and the remixes and the

new tracks ain't that bad. Why you guys get disappointed is probably because

you expected some new trend-setting stuff that would take the scene by storm,

and if you really expected that, then you should be disappointed. Someone says

this is commecial shit and ap is only up for the money, well, we all like to

make money, and if you had the opportunite, wouldn't you? The main thing for

you guys is that your favorite band stays cool and underground (I know, you

cant say that about AP), so that you can act real cool and tell all your

friends that you listen to a underground psytrancegoatechno 24-7drug band from

Israel. AP got you into goatrance and they just continue in the same style,

without following that wierdo evolvment this scene is in. This is very

danceable melodic morningtrance at it's best, and for me that's the essentiel

thing in music, so this is just the greatest. Many claim TiT3 to be very near

perfection, this is totally the same style, so whats wrong with it? They

havn't evolved? Is evovling = good music? Just because this scene evovles at

maybe the fastest speed the music-industry has ever seen, does all parts of

this scene have to evovle at this insane speed? And actually, I think they

have evolved, you can hear the better production and talent. And please, no

more of those "commercial shit, 0/10!" shit! This is a review for christsake!

Anyway, I give 8/10 for this fine piece!
