Hi all,

We all know that a good bassline is very important! :)

I got a Nord micro and a cs2x that are capable of producing nice bass sounds.

I kind of new on this and my midi programming in Cubase isn´t the best..

Can I find some kind of matrix plugin to cubase?... because the matrix in reason

is pretty easy to do basslines.

Or is it someone here that could share some good midi examples? :)

I try to listen to songs and record what they have done... but its hard..

Any advice is appreciated!

Many thanks,

/Patrik

First of all to correct you a little.... Midi is not a way to program cubase.

Midi is a connection system that make it possible for your computer to communicate with your gear.

I suggest you play around and have fun until you come up with a baseline you like.... You allready have a very nice synth in the Nord Mircro. That machine is perfect for bass sounds... So just continue. I know it is hard in the beginning.. It is hard for al beginners but if you stick to it you will soon see a result... Don't give up and think that a plugin like the Matrix will make it easier...It won't.

Ofcourse will I continue my quest for the ultimate bassline! ;)

But sometimes its just a real pain in the a..

But I learn alot everyday... well, I mean when I got the time to tweak those knobs!

I dont know why but time flies when you are deep into never never land.

Do you have any tips on making a track...

I dont know if its the right way, but I think that for a starters I make a track only with a bassdrum and a bassline. Lets say for two, three minutes or something.

Then add some percussive instruments.. maybe some pads.

Put different samples and stuff last....

Is that how you work? ...all tips are appreciated!

thanks for your help!

I can only say "there are no right way or wrong way".

I have my way of making music you have yours.... Do what you think is fun... never think about what people like..... make music for yourself..... then it is honest music......

If you want to only use a kick and a bass for 3-4 minutes then do it.... maybe that's the right way for you..... again there are no rules...

.. But it would be fun to hear what way u guys make your trax. I usually start somewhere in the middle, and work my way to the end. My intros are generally very bad, cuz when its time to make em im pretty tired of the song.

Yeah, I know what you mean! :)

When you finally are ready with your track and want an intro and outro you have listned to the same beat about 1000 times... you just wanna begin with another project...

A program called Seq-303 from technotoys is great to make basslines. when you got a killer good bassline ready, you can copy and paste the data (notes + controllers) from seq-303, into your favourite sequencer (cakewalk / cubase) :))
