When is trance "Psytrance"

Who disides if an artist or a track is PSY-TRANCE or not, i mean i know al the standards for a psy track , but has it to do witch label you'll be released on or something , let's say that a "regular" trance artist who don't make psy trance suddenly makes an album with 9 tracks witch are all 8 min and really psychedelic and he would release it on a regular "commercial" label (if they would accept it) would it then also come on this side or would everybody here call him fake because he doesn't fit in your perspective. so when, where and how is desided if something is considered "Psy-trance"or not

please give me your opinion!

yep, it's all a quesion of lables!!! you can find TONS of killer full-on tracks that are released by acid techno or hard trance lables. Just try these for size:

The Apex - Kunda

Purple Plejade - Realms

Mike Dred - Macrocosm

Lightforce - That's Trance

... none of these are officially called psytrance because they're released on non-psy lables, but just have a listen and tell me if you think if this is psy of not...

I think the problem is that fanatic goaheads always want to believe that their music is special, has unknown orgins and sounds like nothing else, but the naked truth is that psytrance is a direct descendant of acid techno and trance... so it's only normal that some evolutions of these styles sound very much like goatrance!

he, well something must be wrong coz I goddamn hate psychadelics but I love psytrance!! I think it is to do with labels, btu all music in this industry is to do wit labels, each lable is associated with a genre`. I also agree thatthis music is a fullon mix of acid techno and 'cluc' trance.. Icould imagin mixing a full on acid track with some flowing club trance music woudl come out sounding like a goa or psy song. Listen to cd 1 o f retro 10 years of israeli trance, some of it is basically club trance!!

It's definitely because of the label....

Labels are the heart of the Psytrance nation..

It's a little bit harder with Ambient music. which is psy ambient and wich is not.

The line was really vague in the beginning of the movement, there wasn't a lot of psytrance released yet so dj's and collectors where looking for 'trance" records that had a huge psychedelic influence. A good example is tunnel records from hamburg, who released some exelent psychedelic trance records but also some low quality techno. Nowdays it is indeed mainly based on the label, but even now the line is really thin, with labels like flying rhino releasing stuff that can't be classified as psychedelic anymore.
