HolyLight
As a counter-weight to the other thread which put a negative emphasis on classics. I here invite you to discuss tracks and albums that were not much appreciated on release perhaps. Which you enjoyed/enjoy despite what the prevailing notion regarding these tracks/albums were/are. One that springs to mind which I recently discovered, that contains 3 in my opinion stellar tracks. Is the album Amen by Astral Projection, it would be easy to dismiss this album and potentially miss out on some great tracks. If one chose to blindly follow the opinion expressed by a majority in the review thread. One album I intend to listen through soon which didn’t get a lot of appraisal on release, but which seems to have garnered some following over the years is: Psygone - Optimystique. I’m not sure what my impressions will be. I heard it a long time ago but mostly skipped through the tracks quickly to see if it had anything I liked. So I don’t quite remember any standout tracks, it might have if I listen more carefully though. Another one I need to listen to which I don’t even remember if I heard it at some point is: Electron Wave - The Uncertainty Principle The review thread for that album is quite toxic, which is usually a good sign. What are some of your picks? And don’t feel locked by albums/tracks released in the 90’s. The 00’s is vintage as well. And technically I don’t see a reason why tracks and albums from the 10’s couldn’t be included, they are from a bygone decade now.

I’m reading the review thread and it seems to have upset people at the time because they changed to a minimal style. I haven’t heard it yet myself. Equator and Nitrox also seems to have marked a radical departure in style. It’s certainly interesting to read the review threads: https://www.psynews.org/forums/topic/35317-etnica-nitrox/ https://www.psynews.org/forums/topic/34761-etnica-equator/ https://www.psynews.org/forums/topic/34536-etnica-chrome/ Since I haven’t heard these albums yet I can’t comment much. But I do think artists should be able to experiment and explore new styles with every album. Surely they would’ve been bored if they’d made 10 I.F.O/Alien Protein like albums. That beeing said, it was always a bit sad when old school Goa artists changed from epic Goa Trance to rather generic Full-On. I think Hallucinogen might’ve been one of few who didn’t venture into the Full-On territory?
BogzBinny
A lot of stuff from Aeon (Transe Modulaire), Biot, Astralasia, Zeta, and Tromesa I feel got really unnoticed. I really enjoy those artists and I hope more people check out their stuff. I know, i'm still stuck in the 90's but I truly do think it was a golden age and nothing has come close to beating that era. A more current artist that I think deserves much more praise is Aavepyörä. He makes a style that I have yet to of seen replicated by anyone. There are probably more i'm missing, but it's what my current stoned mind can think of

I’m gonna check your suggestions out. I think it’s very interesting to check out stuff one might missed on release, or not quite understood at the time. I think the perspective a distance in time provides, can be very liberating. Certainly from the bias of expectations, one might’ve had when artists released albums which took a radical departure from their previous albums.
