Your top 3 from the top 3

Recommended Posts

3 is just impossible... I'll give you 5 in no particular order (except Deviant Electronics, Mr.Walsh takes the cake for me)

Deviant Electronics

1. Catharsis

2. Viral Spiral

3. Phenomenon Anon

Marcello Bonifacii (so, Ominus/Encens/Aeternum)

1. Ensanity [Aeternum]

2. Spiritual Transgression [Encens]

3. Mindbender [Ominus]

Green Nuns of the Revolution

1. Two Vindaloos & An Onion Bhagee (most insane climax ever)

2. Magellanic Cloud (just about as mad as Two Vindaloos)

3. Thunder Thighs/Fire (those two essentially tie for me - Fire is also a mad escalation and Thunder Thighs is the most fun and funky goa track I've heard)

Extra I - Psychaos

1. Dense Dawn - no need to say anything...

2. Spatial Distortion - very phat and eeeeevil

3. Science Fiction/S.E.T.I. both are timeless classics, can't just pick one

Extra II - Nervasystem

1. Initiation

2. Rotating Rama - that bassline is just....no words

3. Cybermat/Dimension Expansion

Nervasystem is just generally great with the long, building tracks

thats very interesting not alot of people put new school artists in their top 3 :)

is that the first filteria i see? respect! i would pick him too, if it wasnt for the fact i was like 13 when i first heard goa, and the goa i heard from that time and forward just cannot be beat, and i think thats just how people work :)

too many strong memories and feelings attached to those tracks.

which makes me think of a topic i may create,"top 3 of the top 3 - technical/sound quality only" sort of thing.... then for sure filteria would likely be nr 1 for me. his music is absolutely flawless from a technical standpoint. Wormhole i cannot understand how he made the bassline so bubbly and fluid, with the kick so clicky its barely anything yet is a full kick :O

in fact that break at 6 min, is so bubbly it reminds me of gamma goblins 2.

Gaaaah. I was avoiding this topic. Has taken me days to really think about it and find my favourite tracks. Hard because my favourite artists don't necessarily release my favourite all time tracks and my favourite albums are often one offs by artists.

Here goes.

Celestial Intelligence

- Anapa
- Words Of Wisdom
- Celestial Beings

Artha

- Astral Body
- Mystic Change
- Dream Telepathy

Median Project

- Sand Of Time
- Kometa
- Constellation Of Aries

And since we are breaking the rules.

Chi-A.D

- Blue Effect
- Zero Barrier
- Black Light

Ra

- Crossing Planet
-  Beyond Control
- Initiated

The reason is simple imo, very few modern goa artists released 4-5-6 albums like many of the classics mentioned above! Its harder to have 3 utterly superb tracks in 1 album then in 5-6 :)

For new school, my favourites are for sure: Khetzal - Ra - Filteria :) Upcoming talents: Triquetra & Median Project :)
