Music industry to get it's own cryptocurrency

Recommended Posts

Viberate, an online database of musicians, is trying to pair musicians with event organizers as well as create a payment platform. The focus is on the live music industry. It is an existing service which rewards users with Vibe points. They are planning to transform these points into a digital currency - Vibe tokens that can be used on the Viberate platform but also be associated with smart contracts for music related activities.

Viberate plan to launch their crowdsale on Sept. 5, 2017, the sale will end on Oct. 4, 2017 and the supply is pegged at 200 mln tokens.

So, in addition to not being able to make money from releasing music, artists will now have the ability to get paid for gigs - the only real source of income - in a currency that might disappear one day or loose its value overnight?

Great thinking! ;):P

Do you even care about those replies above? Are you going to react to them?

Since I don't expect so, I can't help myself but believe that this is yet another startup idea created solely so a huge company will buy it off you for craploads of money, for you to ride into the sunset and leave it for the vultures, at the cost of those poor souls who believed in it initially (see also: scam). However, and luckily so, I can't see anybody buying into this particular pile of nonsense.

I would like to wish you good luck, but this is against any artist's interests. So I won't.

isn't it rather like most other cryptocurrencies? those who make their own version can buy lots of "coins" for cheap in the beginning, so they get filthy rich if the whole thing takes off. if it doesn't (which is pretty likely because we have more than enough cryptocurrencies already) it's just wasted money for everyone involved.

Well I didn't reply to those two comments, because there was no real questions.

Our idea was not to get some funding and ride into the sunset, but to use that funding to make our already existing and working platform even better and usefull for everyone in music industry.

Most of the Viberate team are working in music industry for over 15 years and we wanted a product that we can use ourselves.

One of the founders is actually DJ UMEK, which is one of the best techno artist in the world :)

When we saw the potential of our idea, we made a platform everyone can use.

This is definitely not a scam, but it's a product that took over 3 years of developing.

Let's leave cryptocurrencies on the side for a moment and look at this project from the musical point of view.

Since this is a trance community, I will use some examples you can relate yourself to.

When you get to https://www.viberate.com

you can easily filter out the trance chart, to look for artists you like

https://www.viberate.com/artists-chart/electronic/trance/earth/lifetime/viberate/fans/0

so let's pick Neelix for example

https://www.viberate.com/artists/profile/neelix

as you can see, we use all social channels to create analytics for individual artist.

We use all that data to position the artists in a chart which can be customized according to your needs.

So if you want to see which German trance artists have most instagram followers, simply pick the genre, country and channel.

You can now see Paul Van Dyk is first with 216K followers on instagram and Neelix is third with 70k followers.

Labels and promoters can use this information to see which artists are gaining popularity and which are loosing it.

Each artist profile contains their upcoming events, suggested similar artists, artist content feed and an option for Viberate user rating.

Now let's pick one venue from Neelix upcoming events, for example "Vamos! Luneburg"

https://www.viberate.com/venues/profile/vamos-luneburg

Venue profiles includes venue information like address, capacity, history of performers, similar venues, upcoming events, social media analytics and content feed.

Let's say you are an artist and you want to get yourself booked.

Using Viberate you can browse and directly reach out to over 60.000 venues (we are adding more every day), get all the information you need and contact them for booking.

Venue can immediately get all the information about you without sending them your press pack, soundcloud links etc. and come back at you if they are interested.

On this point we can start talking about our Viberate points and tokens, how you can earn and spend them on our platform or exchange them for real money.

Ok, so this is basically just a simple quick presentation, so if you have any more questions just shoot :)
