Anyone else have this issue? It become more advent with using spotify to browse through the garbage on weekly lists (and everywhere else tbh), just skip and swipe and here I am, listening to the new Oforia from youtube and I just want to keep going for the skip button to hear the climax, but I know it's not worth it when you don't hear the full thing. Especially in psytrance, but it's even more a problem here because the tracks are long, they are so very long compared to a lot of EDM and, well, who has the time, right? Skipping can be a great tool if you are in a rush but when I'm not I still keep going for it by habit. Instant gratification is real.

To throw in an argument, some of the psytance filler can be really numbing, especially in a lot of progressive and full-on. Nothing changes, but when it does, it's totally worth it to not skip. Actually the problem is also very prevalent in neogoa where you keep hearing forgettable melodies with constant never changing basslines. I swear a lot of tracks by the same artists just blend together like butter, how else than skipping will you find that one great track?

Edit: I think we've discussed a similar topic but I can't remember it's name.

I use skipping to quickly put all the garbage (or what I consider it to be) away. Then I listen completely to all the rest.

What's the point of the climax if there's no build up?

I only skip through samples in order to check the style of an unknown artist.

100% agree. Actually, I very rarely even listen to selected tracks - usually it's full albums or compilations, start to finish.

The only selected tracks I listen to us when the rest of the album sucks. In that case I used to try and put them in an appropriate mix but without the time these days into a playlist will do. Album. Album. Album. Random track. Album. Album.

I do the opposite actually. It's very rare for me to find an album with only good tracks so I just select the tracks I like.

yes and by the logic of some people on psynews, they will spend an hour listening on an album for ONE+ tracks sake :)

Not quite - if there's only 1-2 good tracks, then I usually won't even buy the thing or will not listen to it. If on the other hand most of the tracks are good, then even those lesser ones "get better" over time - after all someone decided to put them together with all the other good tracks, so it's possible I might have missed something the first time around and this way I give it more chance. This is in particular the case for artist albums (80% of what I buy), where - in my belief - the artist usually has a story to tell and every track - good or bad - is an important piece of the whole.

Also, please refrain from negatively commenting on "logic of some people on psynews", as if you are somehow better than them, if what they do doesn't match your way of doing things. I don't call you an ADHD-sufferer for not being able to concentrate on single album / compilation or question your logic, am I?

i have no problem listening to 1 track in an entire album

however if i start from track 1 - 2 - 3 etc i usually go until the end but i confess i usually skip the last one if downtempo

skipping inside a track - never and i dont see the point

it is like skipping in a movie - seriously who does that lol
