Could I ask for some help selecting more music?

I'm new to trance/techno.I'm also older than dirt.I am a recent convert to this genre of music.I will allow that I do like some Goa (especially the old school stuff, but the underbeat(?)get's to me after a little while,so I don't listen to a lot of it..I tried Downtempo, and it is nice and has it's place, but I find myself gravitating to Psytrance.I enjoy Shpongle--Younger Brother..Hallucinogen--OTT..Blue Planet Corp..Cosma..Saafi Bros etc.I don't much like the darker genre's of Psytrance tho.I spend a goodly amount of time on youtube (I know ..ACCCKKK!!) but there seems to be a good deal of music there to sample.Any suggestions as to what other artists i might try, given my preferences? I apologize for being new,and this might read like a topic from an elementary student,But I really would appreciate some suggestions.Thanks.SP

Hmm, since you seem to like smoother sounds prog-psy might be the best fit. I'm not super familiar with the style but Atmos, Stereofeld, Tarsis, Shiva Chandra, Vibrasphere, and Son Kite have some great releases.

For faster goa that still has strong rhythms, check out Shakta, Deviant Electronics, and Uni.

Escape Into, Voice of Cod, and OOOD are some good 'new school' psytrance acts. For something more funky/crazy/experimental without being too dark, try Nervasystem.

You might also try some 'normal trance' on labels like Platipus, and classic pre goa trance on labels like MFS and Harthouse. Where it all began. :)

No doubt I came to the right place for suggestions.I got as far as the first suggestion Earwall made..haven't made it further.I was going to sample some cuts, but i tried Atmos 604 first, and haven't got the self control to move on yet. This is really Good Good music! It's still GOA to me,but realy really good Goa.:)Starkraver..I didn't mention that Juno Reactor is also one of my faves, but I hadn't heard their Golden Sun from the Great East release yet.I'll get to it as soon as I have all the Atmos stuff.Ha-ha...Thanks for the help guys!...on edit:I also have some Solar Fields and Carbon Based LifeForms Interloper and Jaia Blue Energy.

when it comes to good music recommendations, yes you are definately in the right place.

Everyone here is a musical genious! No sarcasm or irony intended!

If you enjoy progressive psytrance, or just want incredible quality psytrance any subgenre; I would recommend Vibrasphere. All of their tracks are good, while some are great, and some are masterpieces. Track to start out with: Thermal Twist which is a nice mix between psytrance and progressive psytrance with a nice morning twist to it.

For Goatrance I'd recommend:

Astral, Early Infected/Shidapu/Shiva Shidapu, Very early Yahel, Very early MFG, Transwave, Hallucinogen, BPC, Pleiadians/Etnica/Crop Circles, Biot, Early Cosmosis, Man with no name, Mindfield, Subcouds, Early Talamasca, Early Electric Universe, Goa syndrome, Aural Planet, Chi-A.D, Cyan, Darshan, Digital Sun, Dimension 5, Doof, Elysium, G-Lock, Imperial Project, Oforia, Prana, Radiotrance, S.U.N Project (Macrophage only), GNOTR, Total Eclipse, U.X/Slide, X-Dream

For misc Psytrance, Fullon and Progressive Psytrance;

Talamasca, Electric Universe, Wizzy Noise, Human Blue, Silicon Sound, Logic Bomb, Space Cat, X-Dream, Cosma, Akanoid, Hux Flux, Koxbox, Infected, Droidsect, Safi Connection and alot more, although Vibrasphere has such an extensive catalouge I rarely need moar than it.

For Neogoa/New School Goatrance;

Artifact303, Filteria, Mindsphere, Nova Fractal, Celestial Intelligence, Psy-H Project, Liquid Flow, E-Mantra, Skarma, Afgin

human blue has some really nice progressive with especially the early releases sometimes being heavily influenced by goa. try this one:

for some really good "modern" progressive try e-clip.

more good progressive:

lyctum

liquid soul

andromeda

elegy

protonica

some essential oldschool goa artists i think you'd like:

chi-a.d.

dimension 5 / hunab ku

transwave

yahel (first album only)

aeternum

doof

same for newschool goa:

ra

artifact303

khetzal

eleusyn

antares

ethereal

e-mantra (for slower, smoother music: his side project night hex)

some psytrance/fullon artists you cannot miss:

logic bomb (goes from weird psytrance to fullon to progressive)

silicon sound (pure analog album)

braincell

talamasca (musica divinorum, zodiac)

psilocybian

for chillout i'd just point you towards altar records.

i guess that's more than enough for now :)

I have spent many an hour over at Ektoplazm.I actually got started there with the Best Of postings and then went on from there.I appreciate the suggestion of Bandcamp also.I didn't know you could sample there. That is actually a very good idea.

Sorry that I haven't been on in a while..busy with life stuff. There is a lot of good music out there, and I want to thank you all for the help in finding what I like.Interesting that one release will be great, and the next is just so-so.I am still working my way through the list of artists tho,so I am sure I will find more great music.

kartoonz...I have an Astrix already and need to listen to more..I will check out Vibe Tribe at Youtube..thanks for the suggestion for sure!...Cheers!

^^ You should also look through the reviews section of this site, one of the best resources in the world for discovering good stuff, if you haven't already... Often number of replies correlates to quality, but also sometimes not. Either way, its worth looking through all the various years for gems you may have missed. The guys have already given you some pretty solid lists so far though! :)
