Obscure Japanese and Australian psy

We talk a lot about forest and sometimes Suomi here, but how about the Japan-Australia connection? Loads of alternative psy-music that doesn't sound like anything else has come out of those two countries... on the Australian side, Psy-Harmonics, WMS, Demon Tea, and Edgecore, and on the Japanese side, Equinox, Anoyo, and Panorama for example.

And those are just the well known labels; then you get into really obscure stuff like this:

Any favorite Aussies or Japanese (besides Ubar Tmar, I think we all know his music) that in your opinion fell through the cracks?

I've always been fond of Psy-Harmonics and their approach to breaking the rules and trying new shit... fuck it, we'll just record this track with acoustic drums, etc. :D But there never was anything that blew me the fuck away completely... a few tracks came close, but there was always something missing to bump it over to the next level, and thinking back what was missing was mostly coherency.

Besides the fact that I disagree with all of this, perhaps you should really give the compilation "Iconic" a try...

The masters of weird music were definately Devic Craft Records... I loved them back then, and I still listen to their stuff once in a while... A pitty this kind of psychedelic music died out. It brought diversity!

Damn, and stuff like this :)

Everything from Yamabikaya (Japan) is Love. They wjere real musicians making minimal psytrance. So live, they had a full band.

The album "The Arrival" released on Shiva Space Technology is defo on my top 5 list of albums.

That first Yamabikaya 12" off of Shiva Space Technology is still a favorite of mine.

Perfect dark mountain forest music.

In fact, I hate that genre "Forest Psy" as I think it's entirely misleading. Yamabikaya is what Forest Psy sounds like. Generic Dark Psy is not resembling of a forest...
