Trance-music & your friends...

Varied. 2 of my best friends are Audioform and Black Noise and lots of times we just hang around in each others studios, recording noises. Generally I have a few local people that we are around the same age and have been in psytrance and parties for bonkers years. Then I have foreign friends (most are actively involved with the music) that I meet at festivals/parties every year...some of them from Sola Luna 2001 in Samothraki.

I have 1 very close friend who i discovered psytrance with. Actually we discovered alot of things together (psychedelic drugs to name one). It's nice to have at least 1 friend who knows what you mean and who you can share your opinions with.

Last year i went to Ozora by myself simply because i didn't know anyone who wanted to come with me, it turned out to be the best decision i've ever made. On the first day i met some super nice people from Denmark (my home country), real hippies, just my kind of people. Now i can always go to a psy party and expect to meet at least someone i know. In Copenhagen where i live the good part of the scene is fairly small, so you end up seeing the same people at the parties which is cool. It really makes you feel like you belong somewhere.

But still i would like to have some friends who are into goa as much as i. People i can just invite over for a couple of beers and some LOUD goatrance on a regular chilled out sunday :P

EDIT: On another note i think it's important not to try and convert people, it just doesn't work. Instead just show up where there are likeminded people. If you go alone people will notice and will be much more likely to converse with you because you act more like yourself when your on your own.

Although I live in small town there are a lot of people around here that listen to psy and goa, some go back to the early 90s. A lot of my childhood friends too and a lot of other people generally. We used to listen to much more psy and goa but with growing up and having jobs and responsibilities it's less often. There are also younger kids listening to Psy but obviously they prefer Hitech or Modern Full-on and Dark Psy. However, I have managed to convert a few of them to Goa, I strognly encouraged them to come to Astral last year, a lot of them came and after having a blast a few of them have discovered THE TRUTH.

The reason PSY is so popular in our little town, is because some of the early Acid Trance/Goa parties from the famous Greek DJ Nikos LL (Liquid Love) were organised here because his family had a summer house. So a lot of the people who were teenagers or in their 20s in the early 90s got involved in the scene and this still goes on today. Especially in the summer there are beach parties at remote beaches practically every weekend, although with the financial crisis there are not so many people attending, mostly because of high fuel prices and unemployment.

There are a few people that are very knowledgable too and have DAT and vinyl collections.

on the other hand converting people from "regular" psy to goa trance can be easy if they take psychedelics. i've once played khetzal and d5 to two tripping people and it was like a revelation to them ;)

Most of my friends are into psytrance, many of whom have been friends for quite a few years now. :) In my home town, where I still live, however, I have 0 friends into psytrance... One of my friends here loves psychill but absolutely cannot stand upbeat 4/4 trance. To be honest, though, it's kind of refreshing, as it would mean I'd be socialising pretty much 100% with psytrance listeners. :P Best of both worlds!

As for Goa, even among my psytrance friends and acquaintances, I really do not know many people into it. There's only a select few people I know who are truly into it, which is a shame. One of them played Goasia among others at a party last weekend, which was really surprising and brought a huge grin to my face.

Where are you from trunksan?

I come from Megara and live in Nea Peramos (Megalo Pefko). The parties that I'm talking about took place in Alepohori/Psatha (and still do) and the beaches are at the Strava area, after Shinos were the famous Cariocas beach bar lies (and where I spend most of my summer Sundays).

Last weekend while we were at "IT the place" (Exarhia) for X-dream's Jan, there was also a party at Strava. Some of the guys continued after X-dream and went to the beach ,we chatted yesterday and they told me that Atriohm was there and he played during the night and they were also pleaseantly surprised that they played some good melodic psy in the morning, because usually it's Dark and Full-on, day and night.

Edit: To be honest I avoid going to these beach parties, I'd rather spend my summer weekends at Cariocas drinking beers and getting some peeping therapy, since the beach is full of hot bodies!!!

Just one friend who introduced me to goa trance a year back. And now i'm a bigger psy listener than him. He has moved onto dubstep. No one else apart from this forum. But I guess you guys are good enough :)
