Recommendations for a newcomer?

Welcome flipples311.

You could check out the videos below (and I am sure others will post) which is a mix of different styles.

If you like any of them, search for the artist on www.discogs.com and check out what compilations they're on where you'll be able to see a lot more artists with a similar style. You should be able to search for the tracks on youtube pretty easily, probably even the full albums/compilations so you can see what you like.

Happy exploring.

Enjoy listening!

Edit: You can download goa for free at www.ektoplazm.com. Be sure to check out the Dimensional Gateway series :)
Also, like Neogoa on facebook to be up to date about the latest news in goa trance world.
Buy the music to support the artists and labels whenever you can but if you, like me, cannot do so 'cause of financial reasons I recommend downloading the peer to peer program Soulseek.

Before everyone and their dog throws out a million and one suggestions, I'd personally start off by asking what sort of music (in general) you tend to like (or are currently searching for). Such as:

- Melodic

- Weird

- Energetic

- Rhythmic

- Aggressive

- Mellow

Or any other general descriptor. Because you can find examples of all in psytrance.

There should be a button in the lower-right of every post that says "Quote".

1200 Mics I think is fullon, so you could start by searching out some of the other artists above that are labeled "fullon".

1200 mics is a collab between gms, raja ram and chicago, so i'd say look into gms. you'd probably also like music from astrix or alien project (their best albums being eye to eye and aztechno dream respectively).

these artists are among the most "easy listening" of psytrance. don't forget to look into the other fullon recommendations, you'll love them when you get tired of the isreali sound and "easy listening" turns into "boring" as it always eventually does.

...and whats the best way to listen to it?

I'd say headphones at a decent volume. some tracks you will hear all the good intricacies better. then try what you like LOUD through a speaker set-up ;D

Oh Hello flipples...

Everyone has given great recommendations already. Please check this link too: http://www.ektoplazm.com/essentials

There is more than 20 years of trance for you to explore. I still have not listened to many albums. It won't be possible to listen to everything in this lifetime. But whatever you like, I hope it gives you sonic happiness. About how to listen to this music, I listen to my favorite tracks both on good quality headphones and floorstanding speakers. It is a different experience with either set up.
