longloststar Posted January 10, 2011 Share Posted January 10, 2011 Its a nice effort, some good variations and the melodic climax is catchy. I think you should add some more layers. Foremostly, a bassline is needed no matter the genre, barring ambient. Also, try some pads to fill up the empty frequency ranges. You can view those with a simple spectrum analyzer. Finally, I think the percussion patterns are far too simple. My suggestions would be to: (i) lower the volume of the open hi-hat, (ii) add closed hi-hats at and between all kicks, (iii) add a snare at every other kick.
