Psychedelic DUBstep - Recommendations?

Hi,

Ok in the whole world it seems that DUBstep is taking over, and it has for some years now. In Oslo it's no different and it's so popular to have DUBstep parties. Honestly, there is shitloads of phat DUBstep around. I can just look at the ‘Other electronica' for general DUBstep reco's. But I want to ask about recommendations in thid section, the 'General Psytrance' section because I would like to kick some butt and present the good folks of DUBstep Oslo with some nifty hefty orgasmic uber cool Psy-DUBtrip-tunes. I did search and I found one nice thread http://www.psynews.org/forums/index.php?/topic/58069-psydubpsysteppsybreaks/page__p__952574__hl__dubstep__fromsearch__1&do=findComment&comment=952574 - though this thread I'm writing now i about more precise reco's of DUBstep in the ,,psychedelic" ,,box".

So, got recommendations that will blow peoples head off? And as mentioned in the Topic Description, the FREE'er, the better! :)

My reco's are:

Some tracks found on http://www.bleepblop.co.uk (thanks Laserflip)

Tracks from Mr. Rogers album 'Ooze System' (http://www.psynews.org/forums/index.php?/topic/53327-mr-rogers-ooze-system) and his EP's which is even better when it comes to DUBstep direction. Here is one track in two remixes:

and
Its kind of hard to find his tracks on Youtube because their usually called something very different from the original title.

and .. Um, the Cosmic Dreams EP by LuneCell availible on Ektoplazm, I just DL'ed it so don't know how good DUBstep it is yet ..

You're turn!

Yes, the LunaCell album is pretty good. There has already been a thread about this, here:

Here is my mix inspired by the tracks recommended:

Among more "traditional" Dubstep artists, Excision, Mimosa, and An-ten-nae stand out as having a more "psy" feel in some (but not all) of their tracks. Honestly, true psystep is a pretty rare niche genre as far as I've found.

Anything by Bird of Prey, but you probably already knew that.

M.E.E.O. - Wilder Beast from the Flying Sauce compilation (Ektoplazm). This track is a dubstep/psytrance hybrid with a wicked wobble in the breakdown.

Soundcloud discoveries:

11:11. Lotsa free tracks, and quite deeply psychedelic too imho.

- there's a remix of Pink Floyd on there, that's psy right? ;)

Personally I find tribally-influenced dubstep to be quite psychedelic, and there the horizons open a bit:

Kalya Scintilla - http://kalyascintilla.bandcamp.com/

Shackleton, David Starfire, Jef Stott, Pavel Dovgal.

Desert Dwellers Remixes EPs have some good tribal dubstep tracks.

Shackleton has some really cool deep dark minimal dubs, I'd like to investigate this guy more

Yes, definitely Liquid Stranger. And Sub Swara and Nit-GriT...

Nucleya's remix of Tonic totally rocks my socks:

I have been sufficiently inspired by this "tribal psystep" style to make a little mix. Hope y'all enjoy ;)

Bandish Project - Brown Skin Beauty (Liquid Stranger Astral Abduction Mix)

if some self promotion is allowed... check my track "calling mercurio". Its on the dark, industrial side - but it definitely is Psy and Dubstep too :P

it is on my recent album The Scythe of Orion, which you can download in hi quality here:

also, a little preview clip of something I've been working on, to be released sooner or later.

Dubstep is cancer. :P

Maybe Gemini or Flux Pavilion? Nero? Chase & Status has some dubstep tunes too. Not saying any of this is psychedelic.

Video not related. Also I saw Netsky live a few days ago. Camo & Krooked a while ago too. And Sigma. Jelly? :P

Yeah... it's a cancer for sure. I enjoy some of it, but I'm sick of it being everywhere and I'm sick of everyone talking about it... all these new ravers think it's the apex of creativity in dance music culture. Sigh.

That said... it's not bad by itself; divorced from its social context.

L-Wiz is really cool. Really, really dubby. I wouldn't say psychedelic, but it's very chilled out and covers some ground that the "wobwobwob" producers won't touch.

The Widdler has some tunes bordering on psychedelic, check him out. I think it'll be difficult to find a lot of psychedelic dubstep though, by virtue of being dubstep it's an in your face and very unsubtle genre, unlike goa and some psy that takes a bit of getting into to really understand.

This has nothing to do with dubstep mate ...

try listing into the track mate (from 4:10) :P

and the first part is psy-trance/psy-prog with a quite dubsteppish bass-line I would say! So yes it has to do

ED: Though it is not dubstep in a classic sense, but I though that was sort of the point of the thread, no?!

Hahah... ok! maybe dubstep is different in Greece than here... but I admit it is a rather short sequence of "regular dubstep".

and nice track! A bit breaky if you ask me :P but mostly the beginning ;) I guess I see dubstep as way more bass-oriented music, with much focus on wobbling floors...

Dubstep's main characteristic is the wobbling bass, I agree.

Btw I was talking about the whole album, not just the self-titled track :)

Well the whole album is most definitely not dubsteppish and does not have a particular wobbling bass, I was thinking of the specific track (Breath In) on I/O

and at 4:10 I really think you can't be in doubt! :P
