After one year...

Recommended Posts

I have been learning music production now for just over a year. So far i have completed roughly thirty tracks. and probably didn't complete another 30 on top of that. Each track brings me a little more knowledge and a better understanding of musical concepts. I am posting two of my very latest completed tracks, and i would love to hear some feed back. I definitely understand that I need to work still on my eqing and the final mixdown, but I do think my ear is getting better over time, which is all i can really hope for at this point.

the first track:

The day is night

the second:

Some vision for the future

hope you enjoy :)

30 tracks is quite alot to finish in one year.. Are they really finished?

To get a little more response to your request it might help to upload it to soundcloud or a similar site so people don't have to download it.

Listening to 'some vision for the future' now.

The start is a little abrupt. Could do well with a nice intro. The bass is pretty ok. Could maybe be a little bit louder. But I am listening on really crappy speakers, so it is not easy to judge. The sounds all do have their own place. But there arent that many so that isnt too difficult yet. I must say i can't really find a story to the sounds yet. They are still a little 'on their own' so to say. Not coherent enough. I am also missing some hihats, but that might be a matter of taste.

What always works well is to take a track you really like and dissect it totally. See what happens where to reach which effect in the track. Also I think you could add some more automation to the instruments to keep them interesting through the track.

Overal the sound is pretty good actually and i like the individual sounds. But you could still do some more work on the arrangement I think!

Keep em coming! Good luck.

hey thanks a lot of your feedback. Yeah I have thirty tracks rendered. I wouldn't say any of them are near releasable, but I don't expect them to be. Right now I am focusing more on learning techniques, forming ideas, trying not to get to bogged down by the details right at this second. Once I have refined my skills in music making i think I will work on the final polish a little bit more.

Thanks for the tips on arrangement as well, I will definitely take that into account.

I took your advice and started up a soundcloud account. I uploaded the ones here, plus a few more which are a bit older. you can find them here...

more feedback would be great :)

sounds cool on my laptop speakers....

I'd say your well on track for a year...... wish I could say the same for myself :(

Hey thanks a lot!

I have a couple of new tracks up on my soundcloud. Better than anything I have posted here before I think.

Tried to take my arrangement into more consideration, as well as filling up the soundscape..

Hope you guys enjoy!

fyi, I find a lot of inspiration in solar fields, I think he has affected my sound quite a bit...

I listened to Light Combusting and some melodies are off key, read some basic music theory if you haven't already. Its not very difficult to learn. Good luck in the future!

yeah, I see what you mean about the melody...its really bothering me now, but I have moved onto other stuff...

here is my latest effort. Took all of your comments into consideration, more layers, better composition, and more attention to the theory

I have listen [some vision for the future], [the day in night] and [i's within skies within eyes]

You have succeed on making some sounds, but I can't understand structure of you tracks. Some part of one track can be interesting, and other part is horrible (sounds mess in total randomness and disharmony).

Maybe it's just me: I'm not digging too much in this kind of music.

When you'll produce next track, try to take this into consideration.

Wish you the best. B)

Thanks for your comment, I do want to say though, that the first couple of tracks (the day is night and some vision for the future) are kind of older at this point, and I havent made more recent tracks that I think do take more traditional song structure into account

maybe check out some of these:

http://soundcloud.com/sidra/boiled-in-the-blood-of-pachamama

http://soundcloud.com/sidra/a-snowflakes-beauty

and as for I's within skies within eyes, I was more going for something a little less typical for structure, something that edged more into the ambient side of things...

thanks for checking them out though
