Karl Sanders (born June 5, 1964) is an American musician, most widely known as the founding member of the American Egyptian-themed death metal band Nile. He was born in California, and lives in Greenville, South Carolina. Sanders is renowned for his virtuosity and versatility on the guitar. Karl is endorsed by Jackson Guitars and Dean Guitars, and has two signature models by Kxk-guitars. He is ranked 4 in the Decibel Magazine ranking of the 20 best death metal guitar players of all time. He has a vast knowledge of Egyptian mythology, which heavily influences his work.

Besides his work in band Nile, he is doing some great Middle Eastern / Egyptian Ambient music and that stuff is amazing. He released so far two albums ''Saurian Meditation'' [2004] and ''Saurian Exorcisms'' [2009].

Take a minute and listen some stuff on youtube:

Saurian Meditation is an excellent album! Really takes you to another place and time! Haven't heard the other but I guess I have to try it some time.

Death metal is not my cup of tea though. :)

This is way more world music with almost no psy influence. However of all the death metal I've listened to Nile was my favorite just because of the amount of detail, study and understanding of Egyptian history that has gone into their modus operendi. I think it's really cool that he's done this downtempo project.
