Non Psytrance Essential Albums

Recommended Posts

So I was looking on Ektoplazm at Basilisk's "essential selections"

and it has been very helpful to explore some of the more important, good and historical psy releases.

(Excellent resource btw, and you should check it out) http://www.ektoplazm.com/projects/essential-selections/

As a fan of all types of electronic music, I am wondering...

What are the most important/great albums from the history of non-psy electronic music?

I'd love to see your lists of the albums every fan MUST have/hear or at least respect.

You can take from Techno, House, Breakbeat, Drum n Bass, Dubstep, Minimal, Tech-House, Electro... anything really.

I look forward to seeing what my fellow psynewsers come up with.

Cheers, and thanks for checking out this post.

Woob - 1194

Biosphere - Substrata

The KLF - Chill Out

Jean Michel Jarre - Oxygene

IDM/Ambient/Trance

Alien Soap Opera - Second Wave

Future Sound Of London - My Kingdom

Gas - Gas 0095

Gel-sol - Gel-sol 1104

problem is that many of these are hard to find in original forms, but luckily some have got repressed.

have fun, it will takes a LOT of time, if you really wanna dig

but my favorite artist and by far, its everything from kettel and especially his earlier work

kettel is something really different that youll ever hears, no one does nothing like it, there layers and layers of melodys

BUT really you have to listen to almost evrything he did, not just one album, go dig for everything he did, but i recommend a lot tough friendly waters tough

other then that, there too much men go take a loook at this poll of best of 2008, its helping me really a lot, im starting to know pretty much the other side, the side of electronica, rather of the IMO boring psychillside or psytrance:

http://reviews.headphonecommute.com/2009/01/01/best-of-2008/

and then, when you love an artist, you have to go and listen to everything he did, cause sometime, like infected mushroom in occurance, well, there earlier work was crazy, so if you dont want to miss nothing from every artist, you have to dig far

but my coup de coeur recently was HELIOS!!!!!! go take a look

especially Birdy Nam Nam's self titled from 2005 and this year's Manual For Successful Rioting

It might seem that because of my youth, my collection is almost all psychill, psydub and psybient, but nonetheless, deeply in my heart there is a bit obscure stuff, but magnificent and rich on sound. I picked some:

Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells, Amarok (classics)

Anthony Phillips - Slow Dance (New Age)

Kitaro - Kojiki (New Age)

Wingmakers - First Source (New Age)

Richard Marchand - Insular World,

Get Off My Planet,

Myopic Wandering (very avantgarde electronic music by a Canadian digital painter, currently offline)

CAI777 - I dreamed of dying, Life/Death (German underground hardcore deathmetal, dark avantgarde ambient, or something like that)
