My impressions of it when from when it first came out were very different, the sinister feel especially and the music was really annoyingly tense at points. I was a little disappointed with the ending though. I think I'm going to have to watch it again sometime for things I might have missed. The music is really tense indeed, very simple and effective (the piano ting-ting-ting). Very artsy too, gotta love the colours in the scene where they smoke together and Nicole reveals her fantasies. Yeah, early in the film I kept having that scene flash in my mind from "The Shining" where the pig man is doing whatever the hell, and the blood pouring in etc.. So as the mystery and tension started to ratchet up, I got even more intrigued. I really enjoyed the first 2/3 of the movie. I understand the idea of leaving some things hanging, some questions unanswered. Sometimes it can enhance a movie, leave you wondering, but in this case I wish he would have elaborated on the CONSPIRACY a little more. Also had a very weak ending. that's because Stanley Kubrick (the director) died during the making of the movie!!! It was never really finished but you know Hollywood, once they invest in something they want their money back Anyway, I remember when it was released that they were talking about 2 different versions, one censored (the one we all know) which would open in normal cinemas and an uncensored one which would play in porn theatres.
