If you're anything like me, chances are you'll spend much of 2009 buying CDs which you wish you had bought a year earlier so you could have voted for them in the Best of 2008 poll. In this thread I invite you to rectify this by listing those albums which would have made it into previous years' best of lists had you known how good they were at the time. Here are mine:

1) The Nommos - Digitaria (2004)

2) Naked Tourist - Mad Different Methods (2006)

3) VA - Kokopelli (2007)

4) Carbon Based Lifeforms - World of Sleepers (2006)

5) Solar Fields - Extended (2005)

...I bought a lot of "old and not so old material" this year as well..... :rolleyes: ...some albums I knew were great but never bought, others were a fresh surprise (thank you Ultimae for some part!)...

Anyway, here is my list for this one (that is the ones worth mentioning and in no particular order):

* Etnica - Alien protein (Blue Room Released 1996 - Inpsyde reissue 2002)

* Astral Projection - Another world (Phonokol - 1999)

* Tandu - Multimoods (Phonokol 1997)

* Solar Fields - Leaving home (Ultimae 2005)

* CBL - World of sleepers (Ultimae 2006)

* HUVA Network - Distances (Ultimae 2004)

* Logic Bomb - Unlimited (TIP World 2002)

* Androcell - Efflorescence (Celestial Dragon 2006)

* Cell - Phonic peace (Indica 2005)

* Aes Dana - Memory shell (Ultimae 2004)

* Digital Mystery Tour - DMT Express (Sofa Beats 2005)

* Seahorse Transform - Dust from a trip (Sofa Beats 2006)

* Loopus in Fabula - Fat ladies bingo (Fabula records 2006)

* Transwave - Backfire (3d Vision 2006/2007)

...and there it is....I can see that 2008 was year that musically speaking brought me back to my electronic roots: goa trance......together with a deeper exploration of the mysterious sonic fields of different types of chill/downbeat/ambient....the journey was long and hard...but I've finally gone where some lucky bastards already went.....(suggestions for further exploration are welcome)

Good thread.

Just recently I bought Matenda - Chilling Matenda, that one was released in 2004. Chillcode's first release. Didn't own it physically before ... but it's an absolute gem that I just had to have! Would definitely have voted for that one, but back in 2004 it kinda totally passed me by and it was later that I really discovered the beauty of it.

Infected mushroom-The gathering (1999)

Infected mushroom-Classical mushroom (2000)

X-Dream-Best of (2001 I believe)

Perfect stranger-changed (2007)

Shiva chandra-Auricular(2003)

Electric universe-One love (1995)

They are the only albums I bought in 2008 :P All top though except for maybe the perfect stranger album.

Psypsiq Jicuri - A Rain of Hope In the Galaxy (2006).

This album is like pure summer. It's full-on and somewhat melodic, but contains the right amount of weird sounds and layers. Furthermore the baselines are varied, the melodies aren't overused, and the tracks therefore don't get cheesy. I couldn't find a single review regarding this album on the web, but it sure deserves one.
