Lithuanian label Arkona Creation Records is an artist collective with a distinct purpose... showcasing their art. Their latest, biggest, and best compilation to date, Perkuenya, illustrates their idiom superbly. Ten progressive psychedelic tracks have been assembled from artists from every corner of Europe and arranged with a definite drive and flow from the introductory opening track on the list to an uplifting, soul-pacifying climax towards the end. "Perkuneya" will certainly be making waves as we head into the New Year, through headphones, across dance floors, and throughout chill out areas. Here there is a taste that all can appreciate.

Track by track:

Wirrareka - Flower Colour

Deliciously panoramic sound effects lead into a richly progressive bass beat at a relaxing tempo. Accompanied by soothing, ephemeral vocals and pads, this track by Slovakian artist Wirrareka is the perfect introductory track to this compilation's sultry, sublime atmosphere.

Controlled Folly - Cosmos 23

The beginnings of this track range from retro ambient sci-fi squelches gently into a funky beat propelling thick low-end pads and acid riffs. The sound layers progress nicely and build in activity and intensity, keeping your feet properly motivated with an overall very subtly great flow.

Bassid - Taste It

Tangibly thick bass and thick, squishy synth leads jump you straight into the rhythm. The drum work picks up steadily as new noises warble and worm their way into the soundscape. The pads, leads, and high hats all do their part to keep the psychedelic funk alive.

B.B.P. - Tide

This spacious track is best experienced under a starry sky. Panoramic, reverbed high hats cascade and define the sonic scenery. Minimalistic drum fills cameo an appearance from time to time as the synth sounds speak softly at first but build in fervor until the end.

Bassid - Wonder

Bass warm, bouncy and fuzzy propels growling, rumbling synth riffs and insectoid effects. A bit more up-tempo than its predecessors, "Wonder" makes for an energetic fusion of analog humanized sounds and crisp digital production. "Wonder" definitely takes you places.

Twinsect - For Outdoor Use Only

Carrying the energy even further upward is Bassid's contribution, a melodic progression of titillating synth leads and pulsating bass and percussion. Heavy on the uplifting feel with a dash of Eastern influence in just the right places, this track is aptly named for its intended purpose.

Luminexia - Spiritual

Starting low and menacing, "Spiritual" may make your neck hairs stand up. Perfect nighttime atmospherics keep your feet moving and your eyes glancing over your shoulder. Thick, warm electro bass and haunting pad backdrops drape the night in sonic sensualism.

Portal Protection - The Grasshopper's Pot

Meshing nicely with the moods of its predecessor, this piece by Portal Protection is a yummy ball of progressivity, psychedelia, and groove rolled into one. Trippy acid leads bounce about as echoed wails cascade across the pulsating sound waves.

Pradox - Noiseless Dance

Those who do not hear the music think the dancers mad. But if they heard this piece, they would understand why. Eerie ghostly moans and low-frequency insinuations affix you to the rich bassline that really gets you moving. This is an exceptional track with excellent flow.

Portal Protection - Fractalius

The Estonian duo that brought us another fine track on this compilation ends this saga with a grand finale. "Fractalius" is an energetic, dance floor rumbling bomber with attention-arresting sound effects, glitchy, filtered rhythm riffs, all of which build quickly to a sonic feeding frenzy.
