Would Any Of The Posted Synths Be Any Good For Psy Trance Production?

Recommended Posts

Moogerfoogers are cool, but kind of limited for the price. The first you posted is just a low-pass filter, which any synth has (to greater or lesser quality). The second has a single VCO.

The Evolver is cool. I have the Poly Evolver Keyboard. There are a couple things I wish were different, especially involving the step sequencer (which I find useless for my purposes). But you can definitely do some interesting things with it. Some people who have had the Poly have sold it and gotten a Mono instead, but I'm all about polyphony.

Keep in mind that MoogerFoogers are effects and don't produce any sound themselves. Moog synthesizers do however, although I'd say it's overkill to buy a MiniMoog/Voyager if the only purpose is psy as I wouldn't say it's its strongest side. There are cheaper synths which can do psy sounds just as well - like the Evovler imo.

From what i have heard, yet not experienced my self is that the MoogerFooger´s are extremely good if you have an virtual analog synthesizer like for example the nord lead series, and use it to add that analog/raw touch to those VA synths that on their own sure sound good but sometimes a bit to digital/perfect.

How is the Novation different from the normal/previous experience?

I hated every single midi controller previously. This is one is out of the box working, and works with 99% of all VST's by default. Their Automap feature is unique, and by far the most advanced I know of. I think other manufacturers are trying to do the same, but they seem to fail.

Lets say you move one of your plugins to the automap section (its a tool you need to enable the vst in) and then it shows up in cubase as 2 seperate vsts. So then if you want to have real time control over the vst, you just simply load the one that has the name (Auto Map) in the end.

Load it, bring it into focus and then watch your keyboard map all the nice knobs etc etc. Its MAGIC! :)
