Mindsphere – “Inner Cyclone” (Goa-Trance for Free)

Recommended Posts

After a very long delay and several difficulties, it’s finally with a great pleasure that Metapsychic Records present its 5th release, “Inner Cyclone”, the first album of Ali Akgün, alias “Mindsphere”. This exclusive promotion reunites Ali’s best tracks which were played in his numerous live performances across Turkey, during the period 2003-2006, and contains also a chill-out piece of his new ambient project called “Mindphoria”.

(artwork cover made by Bruno aka "Astrancer")

Tracklist:

1. Painful story (150bpm) 10:59

2. Mindrama (148bpm) 10:03

3. We have a dream (147bpm) 07:48

4. Wasted years (148bpm) 08:43

5. Operation side (148bpm) 10:37

6. To infinity (145bpm) 09:34

7. Inner cyclone (150bpm) 11:15

8. Fusion (92 bpm) 07:36

Mastered by Bobby Ognyanov of “Aerosis” (Suntrip rec.)

The main concept of “Inner Cyclone” is to propel the listeners/dancers in the middle of a tornado of high sensitive feelings and authentic emotions, directly inspired by Ali’s various experiences of life. The goa fans will be certainly touched and bewitched by the diversified oriental tonalities of this dynamic & melodic eastern-influenced album, which will recreate in your mind a subliminal panoramic vision of the mythic Anatolia. Prepare your spirit and mind out your sphere!

We would like to notice you that this album is also Metapsychic Rec. last release. Our net-label will no longer exist (see the official announcement of our closure at our website), but we are glad and proud to quit this adventure as we started it, with a free goa release that you can consider as a final gift from our part:

Metapsychic Rec. would like personally to express, from the depth of our heart, all our gratitude to our beloved and talented artist, Ali “Mindsphere”, for his amazing album, his trusting and his faithful friendship. It was an honour for us to work with him and release such great music, and even if it’s for free. We have no doubt that you’ll hear even more beautiful music from his part in a near future, - even if it will not be in our label anymore -, because his new productions already totally blow us away. We wish him a brilliant success and the very best luck for his music career.

A special thanks also to Bruno Filizola (Astrancer) for his exceptional covers and to Bobby (Aerosis) for his amazing and professional mastering. We’ll be always very grateful for your precious contribution and for taking part of our story.

Respectfully Yourz,

Martin & Vassilis

Great album!!!!!!!!!!!

Supermelodic and fast, thats the way it should be :)

Thats an A+++++ for Mindsphere.

But i don't like the mastering, i can hear some serious pumping from compressing, also <300Hz there are phase errors (no offence i just say what i am hearing)...

Greetings

Mastering is an aspect of the music I could give a shit about. This album has soul and sounds great. Technical imperfections and eventual setbacks get beat down due to Mindsphere's warm and trancy melodies :)

And there I was starting to think this guy was losing it after the IMHO pretty cheesy and trying too hard Perception track off of V/A Human Hyperactivation.

After two solid listens, one of which last night long time after 12 o'clock and the other today afternoon, I can say that "Inner cyclone" is a very good, if not extremely moving piece of old school goa trance.

Downloading now. Sry to hear about the closure of you're net label. I was really looking forward to Nolax album in material form, that I actually really thought was coming. (I see also now Nolax isn't under you're label). But anyways I just read you're official statement and I feel real sry for you guys you have my compassion, and I hope the best for you in the future.

Hey I'm more than aware, there were a number of technical limitations and set backs - on my end not being the most experienced so to speak, on ali's end his sound card giving him false values which resulted in the original mixes being very badly out of proportion ( like trebble being 4x louder and very low low-end and i'm not exagerating )- there were a number of reasons for not being able to get proper mix downs, such as some of these tracks were made in 2004 and the original project files are gone. I do assure you the masters are much much better than the originals as these are old tracks of ali's with the exception of we have a dream and none of them had a standard sound or production.

We've actually not heard complaints about mastering until now but i anticipated people to relate it with modern releases eventually :)

Actually if anyone wants to have a go at remastering this let me know! Back when this was being compiled it was a matter of who had time to do it. Be prepared for some difficulty though. - I do affirm its the best I could do given the circumstance, spent nothing less than a week at it ;)

wow, what idiot mastered this? i can't believe i actually downloaded the wav to actually listen to this crap sound, the tracks sound good in compo and stuff but what the hell?!?!

Seriously man what are you talking about?

When the music is SO great who cares about the mastering? Ok, if it was that bad to hurt your ears I could understand, but I find it more than ok.

Do you know what i cant believe? That someone can characterize other man as idiot by the way of mastering. Can you characterize your self by the way of expression in this post? On same way! :wank:

Enjoy the music and dont stress your self especially on this crapy way of talking. <_<

From everything I've read about what happened to Metapsychic, this truly sounds like THE PROPHECY album for the label. It was meant to be last album... An "Inner Cyclone" within the label itself? I dunno :P

:D

Amazing work Ali (wherever you are ;) ), very inspirational.

The problem is that there is too much compression on the whole band. You can only compress 3db away on the sum of all frequencies, else the track will "fall apart" and/or start pumping. So you need to compress for example mid + high down to 2db and the bass to 3db and sum it up so you have 5db dynamic range left. Now you can compress 3db away on the sum which leaves the track with 2db dynamic range, a good value for goa.

Theres sparse compression on any of the tracks from my end (no more than 1-2db), only enough to keep levels uniform, again, its unfortunate that I have to get flak for this, you can only polish a mix so much, especially when tracks are old or lost and theres no way you can get a better mixdown of them, but out of respect for the artist and the wonderful music I'll leave these details out :) The post production succeeded in getting all the tracks to sound uniform interms of levels and stereo from track to track, myself and ali are glad with the results considering what we had to work with. Being that this is a community release, if anyone in the community thinks they can do better, PM me :) I'll hereby discuss this in PM if anyone wants to get into it, and yes we'd all love to hear a better master if possible, including me! :)

For the pessimists all I have to say to them is a reminder that a whole range of people worked on this in their spare time for free to deliver this to you for the wholesome price of nothing. :) And these people are doing it because they got fed up that no one else is doing it and realize if they dont do it, it wont happen.. An example of the power of the people when they set their mind to something. Apologies if you've been spoiled by more uniform bulk releases and have thus forgotten what the music is about.
