Q: First of all, how would you describe your music in few words ?

A: Trance has been evoluting in so many different directions now ,that it would be very hard to give any definition to this sound.originaly Trance music was coming from Germany(91/92) but fast some artists like juno reactor started to carry on with more sounds and developpments.I would say that,as far as I know,vision of the trance is very different from country to another...People in Israel don't expect the same music from a trance DJ than is the states or japan for example.(that's maybe why being a trance DJ is so interesting nowadays!

by now now trance is mainly divided into 2 separate movement:

 

-The sasha kind-of -style trance ,that's a mix between fluffy belgium club house and early trance style.very powerfull at the moment.

-The psy-trance,that's the style that is the daughter of the first goa trance vibe,called the big wave,containing artists we all know,psychaos,gms,absolum...this is the following of the original psy-trance.

If I wanted to give a more personal definition to trance,I would say that it s any sound sequences that induces a pro-opio-melanocortine(POMC) production in my brain.pomc is a precursor of the molecules that makes you naturally feel good. (sorry, this is my very personal definition...)

 

Q: Is Trance Your Favourite Music Style ?

A: Definetly not!

Trance music can be very good,but the current production is boring me a lot.(apart from some productions from christofs and a few stuffs on the market). I do listen a lot to bands like LEFTFIELD,LFO,UNDERWORLD,CHEMICAL BROTHERS,ANY VYNIL FROM THE PRIMATE LABEL,STUFFS FROM DJ CARI LECHEBUSH IN SWEDEN,some very techno stuff in general and also some experimental hip-hop.I'm getting nut listening to what the american artists are doing with machines.it s a very different vision of electronic music,and by the way,very fresh to me.I'm also a big fan of DJ shadow and with no orders,DM,empirion,flucke,sting,cure,simple minds,new order...

I don't listen to trance in my place,basically,even though i listen to a lot of trance in my studio!

 

Q: How and When did you start to make Trance ?

A: I started in 94 together with a guy called chris in paris.it was called TRANSWAVE,and we were mad on the case.

 

Q: Are you currently preparing a new album ?When do you project to release it ?

A: I'm currently finishing to produce an album of psy-house music.It's a mix of the trancey sounds and the house vibes.It's very exciting to me,and I have much pleasure to record this at the moment...

I don't project to release anything by now before the summer.Anyway it all depends on my record label ,not me

 

Q: Your Favourite Dado Track ?

A: I don't like dado's music so much.I m still very touched by the emotional texture of a track called "cycles of life" from transwave

 

Q: Your favourite Trance Group ,Album, Top 5 Goa Tracks ?

A: I'm still a big fan of any XDREAM stuff.

coolest album right now : JUNO REACTOR album 'SHANGO'

 

Q: Where does your inspiration come from ?

A: From everywhere basically.most of the time,in the studio,everything is coming to me from a drum loop or a nice sound.software like "metasynth" or any spark plug-ins are very good for inspiration.

I get a lot of ideas also when i'm dancing .

 

Q: Your favourite equipment ?

A: The POWER MAC!!!!

 

Q: Future Projects ?

A: Finishing my new album (under the project name of THE ELECTRIC BOY

a new single of synthetic.

and something i cannot talk about right now...

 

Q: Can you tell us more about Synthetic ?

A: Synthetic is my techno harder side.i try to do a good mixture of hard techno beats and club vibes

 

Q: Would you like to work with a particular artist ?

A: Yes, ALAN WILDER (DEPECHE MODE)

 

Q: More generally : what do you think of the future of Psychedelic Trance music style ?

A: I have no fucking idea.most of the time i don't ask myself such questions.
