Review:

It's really nice CD to have...you can see how history was created...;)

it has some really bad tracks...beginner's one but there are also some

listenable who sounds like some early dance music...Unfortunatly these

days, AP is turning into something really slimy...they are becoming

like some commercial club band...and they are not even good at it...;(

Anyway, if you're AP fan, get this CD...Grade: 5/10

I've received it this Monday and I'm a AP fan.

But I think that it's a bad CD.

The sounds are too simply and too repetitive.

I only like track 1 and 6, the rest of the CD is....!

I agree with you (implant), AP are becoming too commercial !!

Three very good tracks: We Are Controlling Transmission,

Allah Acbar And Reaching Out. These alone are worth the

cd. Techno Terror is awful!!

hmm this album is not commerical!. its just the a collection of old tracks that

will never be released.

if you feel like listening to very old goa trance or old astral projection

projects, so this is what you looking for. this album shows us the evolution

of the goa/psychedelic trance scene back then!.

I think 'We Are Controlling Transmission' is better than anything Astral

Projection have done in the last few years. The expression 'lost the plot'

comes to mind - sorry guys. Buy this instead of any of the last two albums at

least. We trust in trance - do you Astral Projection?

As i an AP fan i am biased, but i find it interesting to hear AP's older stuff.

Just because AP is one of the most well known trance bands doesn't mean that

they are turning commercial. AP's music is not changing, that doesn't which

is great if you love their music.

Astral Projection is one of my favourite group and

I think that they are not becoming a club band. They

stick with their old style and they do it good.

In The Mix is of course a disappointment, but it is

probably good to beginners in Goa-trance. BTW, it had

one very good song; Axis V0.99! About this CD, well,

it is really old and it sounds like it, but the AP fan

should have this. Maybe not worth the money, but you

can get it over the Internet like me |-)

We Are Controlling The Transmission is actually GOOD!

Look people, this is as uncommercial as it gets- or to be more excact- this was

uncommercial- this is how trance started in 89-93- it was so uncommercial that

only in 1998 (not 99 as written here) they could release it. You can find here

old industrial techno layred with some simple melodies (the older trax) and

some early Astral stuff. We Are Controlling Trasmissions I remember well from

the early 90's parties. I had tears in my eyes when I first heard it again on

this CD after 5 years.

Guys, it wasn't commercial. People thought this stuff was awesome back then.

You have to imagine what it would be like hearing this 10-12 years ago! This

stuff is classic. Of course it's outdated as hell now, and most of you,

including me, will find it drawn-out and boring. Hell, I certaintly wouldn't

buy it, but you have to remember that SFX was the foundation that began one of

the greatest groups ever to mark Goa history. Whether you love or dismiss AP

now, you can't deny that they have had some of most awesome music ever to hit

the mid/late 90's. To this day, I find songs like Kabalah new age mix, Aurora

Borealis, Flying into a Star, No One Ever Dreams, Still Dreaming, Electronic,

and Ionized to be better than most of the songs out there. They are some of

the greatest songs ever made.

Allah Acbar and both Sativa tracks are amazing. If I heard those tracks for the

first time today, I'd think they were new. Allah Acbar is one of the greatest

Goa tracks of all time, especially for it's time! Other tracks are too simple

sounding for me, but I would have died to hear this 8-10 years ago. This is a

classic album, even though it is dated, hence the word classic...

AP is my favorite band of all time! I agree that there is more repetition in

their work as SFX than their later work, but give them a break! They were

what, like 11 years old when they were performing as SFX? Anyway I still

think that SFX is fantastic. I love the music even if it is repetitive. It

is still beautiful. Who was it that said Techno Terror was awful??? It's a

different style, but I LOVE it! It's one of my favorites! Flame me if you

want, but I LOVE THIS BAND!

It all depends on how you look at this CD. If you want to buy it to hear some

ass-kicking goa, then don't!!! But if, like me, you want to hear how it all

started out, how the vibe was before goatrance or very early goatrance, than

this is a must have!!!! I can't believe people judge this like it was the

latest AP release. IT'S NOT!!! Sure, it sounds dated now, but remember some of

the tracks were made more than 10 years ago! A little reminder: back then it

was cool to listen to Technotronic "Pump the Jam" and Black Box, so compared

to that this was excellent! The thing I like most is that this CD shows you

the transition between dark, slow industrial (which was pretty much the vibe

in Goa parties in the 80's) with tracks like Techno Terror or H2H3 to sunny

above 120 BPM goatrance. And "We Are Controlling Transmission"... BEAUTIFUL! I

think this track practically invented the morning trance concept... and the AP

sound. So, 3/10 for listening to it at parties or at home (and if you buy this

only for that purpose, you're missing the whole meaning of this CD!), but

10/10 as a historical value!

We Are Controlling Transmission is one of (if not THE) my favorite trance trax.

The rest of the album ranges from ok (Allah Acbar/ Sativa) to [***] (Techno

Terror) but hey... that was the begining, look at AP now... That band made

MAHADEVA (who disagrees it is THE BEST trance track ever made??). Even if,

imho, AP are not evolving too much, they'll still ever be THE trance band.

When (in year 5034) noone will know what 'trance' means, AP will be mentioned

on 'music history' books.

Thanks to AP for making my life better.

We are controlling Transmission is one of the finest songs ever written,

especially considering when was made. CD is good, of course it has some bad

tracks like TECHNO TERROR....

Sativa and allah acbar are other great songs...

6/10

im wondering where would trance be today if someone would have released this

tracks in 89....

now read: I AM WRITING THIS REVIEW AS IF THIS IS THE YEAR 94!!! AND I AM NOT,

IN ANY WAY, COMPARING IT TO THE MUSIC THAT IS CREATED TODAY OR OVER THE LAST 8

YEARS!!!

and now, to the review:

were controlling transmission: what synthlines, what light, what construction?

we must be in heaven. - 12/10

techno terror: im not sure that this is the power of the darkside, but same for

technological terror... but - 7.8/10

diffrent atmosphere: since the 2:42 minute mark i am cant breath out of

astonishment!!! what melodies!!! who said that you need drugs to get this

high??? - 13/10

allah acbar: (this was my actual favorite track in 97!!!) how relaxing can 125

bpm trance get??? great lines (synth lines) in here too - 12.4/10

h2h3: 6.4/10

sativa: what an opening, huh? great bassline too, followed by great filtering

work - 10.7/10

reaching out: this track can really cause you to reach out... far beyond what

you can expect..... - 10.3/10

tone deaf: good basslines, but thats about it - 6.7/10

galactica: nice vocoder used here - 8.6//10

sativa atmospheric cut: 10/10

the whole cd: breathtaking (remmember that the year is 94) - 10.6/10

I have to correct myself, i gave completely wrong grade to this

album...Considering when it was made, this album is A MASTERPIECE ! I only

didn't like TECHNO TERROR but this guys were always serious so I can imagine

that they haven't made even that song for nothing...Beside We are controlling

transimission, Allah Acbar and Sativa other very good songs are Reaching Out

that is simply marvelous and Galactica...8/10

I don't know what people are going on about when they something sounds dated! ??!

This sounds like it was made in the early 90's. Why is that a bad thing? Early 90's trance was fucking ace!!

Well

Wasn't it??

Got this CD today & definately not dissapointed. It sounds so dated :P Just like I remember it sounded like when I first started listening to this sort of music. It was absolutely fantastic back then and guess what... it's the same music. Amazingly music I liked 15 years ago, I still like :o:o:o I can only assume that is because it's really good music. Psy and Goa have progressed and I like old and new releases. They are different, that's a good thing!!

I think you should get it snowball :)

Hey am glad you liked it!! I have it in mp3 :o ,gave it a thorough listen today and well...what can I say.....IT ROCKS!!!! :D

Easy to digest and euphoric, mind bending while clean and sharp, melodic, soothing and trippy...its all that and more. :) A must.its also very nostalgic! ;)

Techno Terror is also a good track, but it doesnt match the general vibe of the album. Its very good and certainly in the guys style, even if its more techno orientated its a very good and powerful track, but its a bit out of place here.Well at least they didnt put it in the middle of the cd. ;)

I am certainly buying this one.Along with MOTY 1.I hope I will still be able to find them

It has somehow evaded me for 5 years that AP have made music before they made goa. (Probably because I didn't listen much to frankfurt beat and other early techno until recently)

It definitely is a very different kind of music than Dancing Galaxy et al., but no less good IMO. Absolutely love some of the tracks for that industrial, thick synthy vibe.
