Review:

Here we have one of the first Goa Trance volumes out of Kickin trance

volumes...It is mixed by Tsuyoshi Suzuki and it is well mixed...could have

been slightly better but it is still VERY GOOD choice of songs...First disc is

rather minimal in the beginning but still pretty psychedelic...CLONE 3 is very

good song by the same guys from X - Dream...SATORI RAZOR is good, and also

COSMO SHIVA..STARSHIP 101 and LEPTON HEAD are 2 best songs on first disc...On

the second disc we have more melodic Goa Trance and I actually like all songs

: BLACK RAIN ( !!! ), FULL MOON OVER PARVATTI ( Best Doof song by far, real

melodic psychedelia ), 230 000 MILES that is pretty good, TIMELESS WORLDS OF

SPACE ( very good Miranda's song ), NEAR TO DIVINE ( haven't heard original

but Doof's remix is pretty sucessful, MEGALLENIC CLOUD ( !!! ), CYCLES OF LIFE

( !!!!! ) and PRIMAL ORBIT ( The name of Remix says all, really tribal trance

ending )..All in all, this disc might sound old to the new freaks, but to

serious TRANCE LISTENERS would sound as good as any other perfect Goa

Trance...9/10

Disc 2 is okay with it's tried-and-true Goa hits, but

it's the first one that really does my head in... melodic rolling trance with

techno and rave influences.

Satori Razor, Orion, Cubit, Groove On Dream Off, and

Lepton Head must be heard to be believed. 8/10

of tracks. I'm still amazed by this 5 years after I heard it for the first

time. :)

Mine has another cover :)..Very beautifull with great tracks..still today i see

this cd as one of the best compilations ever released..Melodic classic

Goa-Trance. transwave, Etnica, Miranda and Tsuyoshi Suzukis all crazy

tracks...Best track for me is Starship 101 followed by satori razor and

Meggalenic Cloud..GREAAT CD.

Guest hoffy?

yeah, i got reissues of these cheap from a pawn shop.. i was actually pissed

off when i first got them because they were mixed (i got 4 of them, they're

just called "trance xx" and i got volumes 7,8,9,10.. 7 and 8 are this

compilation), and i didn't listen to them because i had most of the tracks

unmixed... when i did listen to them i was quite suprised, more so when i

found out from a friend that they were tsuyoshi mixes.. the second CD is my

favourite, megallenic cloud and cycles of life are two of the most important

tracks :), also all the tsuyoshi tracks are quite good. The miranda track is

good too, and i normally can't stand miranda. cd 1 is ok, the best bit in that

is the sample in arcadia's track: "I was going to the worst place in the

world, and i didn't even know it yet". gotta love an apocalypse now sample ;)

Probably the all-time best old-skool goa trance mix-CD (or rather, collection

of mix-CDs) -- nothing other than Mark Allen's Deck Wizards outing and

possibly Sid Shanti's Hypnotic Trance 4 disc even come close. Tight mixing,

flawless track selection (both CDs are *loaded* with classics), good

programming -- you name, these babies got it. This is to the best of my

knowledge the only place you can get the original version of Shakta's "Lepton

Head" on CD, and one of the few places you can find Transwave's "Cycles of

Life" (a/k/a "the sunrise track"). If you don't have this and like the

classic goa sound, get it immediately (or else its reissue as Trance 07 and

Trance 08). Also note that the second track on CD1 is mislabeled on the CD:

"Sirius" is the record label; the band name is Satori (i.e. Pete Martin/Slide

plus Sean Williams/Process) and the track name is "Razor".

This one was an infectious feel-good vibe. Lots of classic tracks: Starship

101, Lepton Head, Black Rain, Groove On Dream Off, The Pollinator, Cycles of

Life, Full Moon over Parvatti and 230 000 Miles. I still get shivers when I

think of that shuffling washboard-effect with the stop-motion bassline and the

perfect haunting high keyboard line through 230 000 Miles. Cycles of Life has

to be one of the happiest (yet not cheese) sounds of any kind. This was a

really good job - get it if you can find it and want to take a retrodelic trip

back to a rare groove before electronic music had permeated the grocery store

and the used car lot.

This was one of my first comp's, and it still

kicks some ass. That Orion track is dope, and the Martin Sheen voice sample

really seals the deal. Good oldskool psy, probably one of the best Tsuyoshi

mixes I have found...

This was one of my first few goa compilations. I no longer have it, but would

love to get a copy of it again. My favorite was the second CD. It has the

better songs (although the first CD has some good ones too), and I always

wished it wasn't mixed. This whole compilation is worth it for the Miranda,

Kode IV, and Transwave songs alone. I want that Transwave song unmixed! It's

right up there with MDMA as one of their best ever songs in my opinion.

Anyway, nice double CD. Get it if you can for a classic goa experience that's

not too heavy on the cheese either.

You can find Transwave "Cycles of Life" unmixed in two places: on the first

Symbiosis comp Accidental Occidentalism (which, alas, is virtually impossible

to find these days), and on this random compilation Trancemaster 12 - Return

to Goa.

Just had to add my 2 sense. This was my introduction to trance when it came

out. It blew me away and hypnotizes me in a way no other mix has really done

and defines the genius it really takes to mix psy trance well. Establishing

"mood" in a set is a very rare gem and both cds accomplish it here. One of my

favorite pieces of music of all time. Too bad some dickless bastard stole it!

But i got bootlegs recently:) Find this if you havnt heard it.

It's compilations like this that allow DJ's all over the world to just push play and almost turn some knobs to fake the appearance of actually doing something.

It's that good.  One of the greatest mixed CDs that's out there IMO.
