Review:

Prepared to shocked. These guys have completely different approach to

psychedelic trance (if this can be called trance: it's so different). The

three best adjectives to describe this album are: insane, funny and

ridiculous. The Texas Faggot-guys are definetly not trying to be serious with

their music. Neither are they afraid of including the craziest and most

controversial stuff. If trance would be the movies, this would be something

like Austin Powers.

When I bought this album I was initially disappointed, but it has sounded

better every time I've listened to it. Now, after half a year months, I'm

getting this better. It took me 3 months to even really open to this album.

Anyway, I've lately started liking = this album more and more. It's very

refreshingly different and a good balance to all that other trance stuff.

I have no favourite songs on this album. Each time I listen to this album I

like different songs the most. Ones that I like often the most are tracks 1,

2, 3, 4, 6 and 9, but like I said, I like the others also. The songs develop

all the time, but rarely return to where they came from. This causes a

sensation of discontinuity at times, but it doesn't really bother with their

style. The songs are also hard to grasp or articulate, which is probably the

reason why I disliked this initially, but now as I have become more familiar

with the music, it sounds better.

Unfortuantely this album often sounds like experimenting or playing around

(I think experimental music should sound fresh, not like just an experiment;

this is between) and lacks a bit on the production and therefore quality.

Listen before buying (if you can find it), but remember that it gets better

with age. Probably the most insane album I know. 7/10.

One of the best cds from 1999- i don't know if you can call it trance, it

definitely is experimental electronic music but most important it is

psychedelic. Great stuff from Finland, the guys have put a lot of work in

it-not easily grasped and could be annoying at times for some people

(especially those not familiar with australian and breakbeat trance) but then

this music isn't made for everybody and sure isn't easy listening..

Texas Faggot... its a good album, with some very bent sounds, samples and song

structures. Some trax are more twisted/psyharmonixy than others. I'll take

1,5,7,9 and leave the rest to the mind-fuckers association. If you see, listen

anyway, as the sounds and production are crystal and the freshness of the trax

are mind-xpanding.

Truely one of the milestones of the "pshykediläk janre". This incarnates true

psychedelia, always wierd, always new and flat out. Timo and Pasi, the

visionaries of Mongoland - respect and thanks guys!

This is for sure the freakiest suomi i have ever heard.

My reaction after the first listen was like "What the Hell?!"

But then after a few couple of listens i was hooked (as always with suomi on the more experimental edge). A special feeling sucked me in and i couldn't resist it. Man, i just looove suomi. :)

Idd very good more experimental albums... I think one of the last tracks has the melody from the old cartoonseries inspector gadget that I always saw on french cartoonnetwork when I was young...

I like their second album better, but this one is almost equally nice :)
