Review:

Here is pretty psychedelic and dark compilation...It's concept is good and it

has twisted choice of songs...From ultimately intense and psychedelic 4 DAYS

OF MADNESS by PSYSEX over more moody and twisted BLISS by GORL.CORP...CYBER

ROCK CIRCUS is pretty hypnotic and psychedelic in Har Ell's way...THE CON and

THE MASK are both some kind of different trance that cannot even been called

trance but more psychedelic industrial with twisted noise and tweaks all

around....ALIEN COP might be even the best on compilation...It is melodic and

very psychedelic...LEMON is pretty good but nothing spectacular and ROADTRAIN

is more atmospheric...QUIRK's remix to CHAKRA and EDDIE MIS X - FILES is

already well known and pretty good too...so all in all, pretty good

compilation of rather darker, intense songs good for playing just before

midnight...:) fAvourites : 4 DAYS OF MADNESS, BLISS, CYBER ROCK CIRCUS, ALIEN

COP ( ! ), LEMON...8/10

I'm all over the place.

Maybe I have ADHD.

While I was giving my Lucid Flux copy a thorough listening, I came across the Visitors Remix of X-File (more on that later in the review) and wondered if I had heard the original. Searching through my music collection I realize I hadn't. But I did have the Quirk remix and decided to give that a listen since I didn't remember it.

But before I did that I wanted to hear the 10 and a half minute Psysex offering. I was used to their tired and lazy full-on so this absolutely floored me. 4 Days of Madness is an epic hallucination of psychedelic goa that more folds than the human brain. Epic is a good way to describe it.

Well now that I heard that, I figured I had to keep going. Gorlation Corporation is Hujaboy + 1 and while I wasn't a fan of that project the track continues the searing hot tongue lashing that melds pumping groove and psychedelia. Full of twisting melodies and growling sounds. Kinda had a feeling I would find Har-El here and the Cyber Rock Circus has a deep throated guitar crunch combined with the 303. I pick on him a lot, but this is quality goa trance that storms the base. Nasty in your face sounds with attitude. Definitely bad ass.

Unfortunately after those first three tracks it's a pretty steep tumble into not as goodness.

The Con isn't bad with it's juicy bass and funky percussion, but it's nowhere near as complex and involved as the previous three tracks. Edi Mis clearly misses Chakra because The Mask is a squeaky bit of anal mouse sex that I don't ever have to hear again. Psysex follows up with a decent goa track that is again heavy with psychedelia and loads of bubbling.

Lemon from BLT had the length but not the depth and sounded like a lot of sounds thrown together. Roadtrain is one of the most monotonous tracks I've heard in a while. Finally I get to the track I originally wanted to hear in the first place. Totally different than the coked up Visitors remix. This one is more of a mid tempo laid back bit of psytrance.

In 99 goa was well on its way out, so to hear something like this was pretty remarkable. I mentioned Lucid Flux from Anjuna in the beginning of the review and this sounds like something they would produce. Awesome psychedelic goa tracks that weren't as well known as the usual suspects. Driving, melodic, and evolving. Unfortunately those first three tracks had to end and what was left was nowhere near as interesting.

So this is the conclusion I've come to regarding the track X-file...

I just don't like it.
