Fractal Glider - Parasite

Endangered specie under review here. To give some impression what it sounds

like: the heavily orchestrated -Skanda'sTail- brings back memories of Doof's

ultrafine LetsTurnOn album and -Mezmorized- and -Telementery- could be 2

missing tracks from Pleiadians' near-godlike IFO album. So this could eighter

fall under the category "half a decade too late" or "the Goa Empire strikes

back'. Given the excellent compositions, the rich and colorful synths and

simply the overall kickass level, I would say this is a pretty convincing

album, even by todays standards. That -Parasite- also has the effect of

faitfully resurrecting a fluoro party on Goa Beach is nothing more than a big

plus. 9/10.

Review:

Finally Paul McCosh releases a full length album after his music has been

twirling around the Internet for years. His 'first' release Fraud was kinda

dissapointing and badly produced, but I liked their last songs ( the song I

have under the name of Witch Doctor, I'll get back to that subject later on).

At my first listen in the shop I must say it kinda dissapointed me, it seemed

too messy and too much breakz were involved. As I had the same thing listening

to Psysex at first, I bought it anyway and boy am I glad. For those of you who

MUST know the style of this music, it's full-on a bit more on the melodic(

even oldschoolish) side and dancefloor orientated. The first thing that had

caught my eye was the weird tracklisting. I have track 4 on the cd ( Karmic

Implications) on mp3 as Witch Doctor and I think it was released on a

compilation under that name too. If you listen to track 6 though ( on the cd,

Raspy Honks)you can hear a voice sample going 'karmic implications'. I'm kinda

puzzled which track is which... Anyway, lets stick to the listing of the

tracks.

Skanda's Tail is a nice uplifting song, definitely one of my favourites. This

is a nice morning song with some strings and vox ( nice to hear that come

back). This is promising...

Mezmorized has a penetrating melody which sticks in your head all day, good

bleeps and boinks and creative. I like these sorta basslines...

Telementery is a great track though I don't like the last break, he ruins his

lead here.

Karmic Implications is a real stormer, the real full-on style. This will get me

up dancing no matter what. Language of Silence is kinda slower than the

previous track and has a really cool build-up ( another favorite), I think

this will be my favourite in time. It's also a kinda morningtrance song, this

is a treat! Raspy Honks is funny on the dancefloor ( cheezy samples), but

nothing I'd listen to TOO much, weakest track. Colonization, well, I'm not

even gonna say it, another splendid track! Witch Doctor is a more oldschoolish

sound in a new jacket, this is slowly getting to me, its kinda dark.. again a

great bassline

Earth Tremors is the second weakest track here, I really don't think Paul

should try and do ambient... He has a weak bassdrum in it just like in

Etnica-Equator track. Something I do not like ( asura does it in some tracks

as well). I'd give a steady 8.5/10 for this one...

Paul has been very busy lately and will reap the rewards with this superb

album. Great production, wicked basslines and funky melodies, yet still put

together with the intention of a good old fashioned stompfest. As an ozzie it

is great to see him release a new album, and it will only be a matter of time

before the awards flow in. Get it now, you will not get off the dance floor.

9/10.

Hello All !

Thanks for the feedback and positivity from you all =)

We have heard far too many complaints recently about psy music losing its

spirit, so this is indeed Goa strikes back hehehe. I have had much fun and

success playing these trax around the globe, hope you folks have the same

experience.

Sadly, there was a Major Problem in Australia with the track listing =(( We

were too late to recall the cds, so we will try and improve on this for the

repress.

We were however in time to recall the LPs, and have had all new covers made

with the correct tracklistings for you vinyl freaks, although this has caused

a slight delay ..

Stay psychedelic,

booms,

Hi all, thanks very much for all your reviews. It has taken me a while to put

this album together. (It's hard from my side of the world) I'm quite happy

with it & keen to see how it goes around the world. It is rather an old school

sound as far as trance goes, but I can't stand music that bores me! The

correct track listing will be printed on www.fractalglider.com

shortly.......Booms, Frac.

I have had this album for a few days and it hasn't stopped playing. It's one

of those releases that each time you put on you hear something new. And I

haven't heard it on any hallucigenics - yet... Gotta get some LP's for the

local dj hehe. OZ has an awsome sound coming out of it!!!!
