Trashlords And Irie : Smilefile Review: I haven`t listened to this cd very often, just a couple of tracks here and there, but I`m sorry to say that I am not impressed, I really didn`t like the first either.. Not bad at all, but not very good either.. Kluster track was a little dissapointment, his other stuff is very good!! Logic Bomb delivers an average track, but maybe one of the best tracks here.. But if you liked the first release from Stone Age, I think you are going to enjoy this one too! Logic bomb track is ok,seems like was put together with remnants of tracks from Unlimited! anyhow wierdo's is just that and not much else.Puro does a darkish ,sophisticated track that keeps your attention well. But then comes the intricately simple Steptime track and if you drop this at the right time in a set it will definately touch the souls of those in tune,its got momentum like a holy chariot sweeping through the sky towards the promised land!Very goa!! Sienis do another high ly produced bit of magic,blending beats and samples into a chorus of angelic moments...but what I dare call a slightly annoying/cheesey/immature-ish noise stops it from being a classic. Next Spindrift with a very good track that just has the intensity and inner brain-cry type noises merged with good rythmic energy,,subtely savage would describe it well.Kluster gives a well produced tune that is pure evil-sinisism ,growling carefully with a wierd mute type effect accenting each beginning of a phrase!? To me its magic stuff again with a reality check groovy little ,creepy voice sample mid track that pre-empts more contained chaos. Ka-sol....never heard of them b4 ...fu-k me! yes a slight lose of production quality(slight) but what you get in place makes up 10x...those synths scream gently phazing into magical harmonics that pierce your emotional membrane.Magic moments will be had listening to this track evolve....people should be making more tunes like this....seems like live, in fact living keyboard riffs.A carousel of purity leading towards ecstacy,no doubt channelled from heaven(God's eternal reservoir of sound/emotion).Last track is following on the composure of Ka-sol...it never reachs the same level but probably is'nt designed to. what you get is something Parvati would gladly have put on their album...crazy arsed rocking tunage!! Being totally realistic and not trying to compensate for the people above who obviously didn't prepare properly tp listen to this .....it desrvres at least 8/10...4!, 6!, 8!! Posted July 4, 2003 Share Posted July 4, 2003 Well, having swept through both Stone Age issues in one single row I'd say this one is more un-even, more representative of the label's characteristic sound. Starting pretty unpromising with quite predictable LB & Weirdo Beardo tracks it gradually developes into something worthy for my tea. Tracks 3,4,5,6,7 are all good with elaborated rhytmics & melodic patterns, intricate activity on different layers & sparse twists which make up for their singularity. Sienis & Kluster ts provide quite a good flow in their second half whereas Puro, Steptime & Spindrift ts are more densely consistent overall. Be warned though for it is not the semi-industrial sinister psy we all know of as 'Scando sound' (Schlabbaduerst, for instance) - it's rather an endeavour to re-vamp, reshape it, make it more accessible for a broader public. I'm still fond of 'original'-styled efforts better though. But after all what makes this compilation shine is Ka-Sol "Trum-Drum" track, it's powerful as it's meant to be for the Swedens nominee yet it's trippy as hell on its own way. Pure bliss! Should the freakfactory workers consider the night-shift extension to their timeline I won't tell but it's evident now with this track that whatever changes are due to be implemented in their mass-production plastic mold they're still far to surpass their Origins. That said, "Trum-Drum" does also offer some elements of 'natural' progression for its sub-genre precisely cooked & served just to stay in-touch with the present time. T.9 is simply just another one good track, decent finisher. This comp. is really worth it just for the Ka-Sol track alone. 8/10 - "Why can't we just stay with the evident? - Just to overcome the prejudices of the time!
