I just got this new Album and i think its really good some of

it but to be frank, i like the older x-dream songs better!!! But since i liked

the delta very much i cant say that this is a bad album... i like it but i

expected a more trancy and a more melodical sound to it... OVER AND OUT... 9/10

Just listen songs like ´´Transilvania Xpress`` or ´´Imagine if the world was on

trip`` and compare with the songs of this cd. No magic.

It dissapointed me very much.

Old school Goa-Trance allways!

I have never been a follower of minimal, but new X-Dream is... just great !

It's like amalgamation of minimalistic, psychedelic and dark sounds with

admixture of annihilation. Every track has his own kind and intensity of

darkness nad heavyness. In my opinion most dark and heavy is "Fall Out":

strange, wicked sounds, stomp bass and awful mood - you can't escape from this

ravage track without damages in your brain. Caution #1: listening this

composition at night, in dark forest can cause an awe and irreversible changes

in psyche. "No Process" and "Peter's Hoover" are also great. Caution

#2: listening this album in hot, summer day, at sunny place can cause swelling

and splitting of your grey cells. Only 8/10, because last two tracks are too

light-weight and experimental. 10/10 for great cover and title.

miki@goatrance.com is right: X-Dream should be illegal...

#1 good bass, pretty basic, nothing special, #2 morning style, good tunes, #3

clubby stuff, nothing special again, #4 it sounds a bit like Reefer decree -

pulse train drums at the beggining but after a few minutes you realize thats

all you're gonna get ´cause its very repetitive but good at the dancefloor, #5

the darkest piece on the album, sounds like Synthetic - metal gear but a

little stonger, if you have any intention of bothering your neighbors this is

a good one, #6 following the same line as #5 in heavyness but with the slight

difference at the end when there's dreamy enchanted sounds with a woman eco

voice, #7 trippy with building atmosphere, #8 This should be the intro, sounds

almost the same as Planet ben - reparaturbeduerftig, #9 experimental

industrial and weird, the best of this one is the lenght 'cause i couldn't

take the regular 7 or 8 minutes of taruta-taruta-taruta-taruta even if i were

on glue, somebody lend me a shotgun, #10 funky and groovy with a little drum n

bass work, shame this is the chill out cause it lacks on melodies or drums,

could be better. The best songs are #2,5,7 and 8.The new X-dream style could

be named minimal industrial techno trance, a serpent for oldschool fans, like

myself but a ladder for past X-dream productions. No evolution, think in

devolution. It´s irritant to see one of the most famous german trance projects

fall in commercial, this cd rewinds your mindtape cassette not having process

falling and lacking out the magic moments Marcus gave us. But if you like

X-dream aspirin ep released on year 2000, Source unknown, Planet ben (without

the melodies)and specially The delta or a die hard X-dream fan this have to be

on your collection. You like dark heavy psy trance with techno influences?,

better stick to the Hujaboy debut album which includes a cool video. This

album tried to have a mix of styles and tunes but at the end the substance its

gone. To Marcus: take your time the next time, we are having hope on you.

Final veredict: 4/10. Be high.

Well, in the end it is not that special comparing to their previous albums, but

the fact is that they evolved and we can't run away from that..:) Honestly, I

don't like their change so much either but I do respect progress and they did

in the sens of widening their sounds and making them more bending which was

the original idea of X - DREAM at first place - MINDBENDING PSYCHEDELIA...And

in this album they do manage it..Some songs I completely don't like but the

good ones are ; IRITTANT ( Strangely, but this songs sounds as everything

except irritating..:), REWIND, THORAZIN, UNIVERSAL CHAOS, INTERCORPORAL

SIMULATOR...6.5/10

Irritant is X-dream at their darkest and finest hour presenting the results of a monumental production and ears for collosive arrangements pressing the limit. This is so massive, dark and crystal clear it HAS to become light in your mind, to let you survive. But then!

The more profound deeper meaning of Irritant will only reveal itself once played loud on good headphones or possibly a huge outdoor soundsystem, however. Remember the scene in Jurassic Park where the approach of a Tyrannosaurus Rex is illustrated by showing how rings form in a glas of water with every step the TR comes closer? That pretty much sums Irritant up ...

I love everything X-Dream has done, including this... but I must say that Irritant is probably my least favorite of their's (yes i even like We Interface better then this). I think the reason is because this whole album sounds the same to me. Track after track is the same minimal hard beat. I don't really have any stand outs.. Sure its good, but its the only minimal trance album i own, and the only reason i own it is because its X-Dream!

Wait...X-Dream are Asian?

Haha...they told us to f*ck ourselves! Want proof? Check out their post on the first page of this thread.

"Nahh load of minimalist bollox really-appreciate their production but if you
think this is better than the glory days of 97-99 you obviously wern't around
and Im talking about Solipse and Vortex. Coming soon, and Brainforest were it,
call this progression ??????????????"

If that's really them then it's ingeniously funny.

They did this on purpose. Had to. They knew it would be sawdust in the eyes of everyone's expectations. And if you were longing for the melodic and hypnotic goa sound of their past allow me to introduce you to a razor blade enema.

This is very dark and industrial with a hard, metallic sound. More in common with tech trance than psytrance. Someone described it as very linear and that is spot on. Super repetitive sequencer left on type stuff. The thumping power is ever present with a crunchy presence and eerie synths that cannot be reasoned with.

Robotic in nature it generates the fear of the machines taking over. Think of the harsh reality of the Matrix rather than the soft yet still sinister intentions of Blade Runner. Old school goa fans may be disappointed because this doesn't even sound like the same guys. It has a certain film noir appeal though because amidst the monotonous pounding are subtle cues that help bring out their story. Personally I liked the second half of the album more than the first. If you're in the right mood this could work, but leave your expectations at the door.
